Saskatchewan Roughriders sign American offensive lineman Nick Jones
Jones spent last season with the Roughriders, with whom he suited up for six games, contributing to an offensive line that allowed just 35 sacks.
The six-foot-three, 300-pound Jones played 32 collegiate games over three seasons (2021-2023) at left tackle and left guard with Mississippi State.
As a senior, he allowed only three sacks on 657 snaps and helped the offence rush for 1,761 yards and pass for 2,182 yards.
In his first two games as a Bulldog, Jones played a pivotal role in helping running back Woody Marks achieve consecutive 100-yard rushing performances.

As a junior in 2022, he helped the Bulldogs average 311 passing yards per game – earning the 10th best passing attack in the nation.

Bayer Leverkusen extends Patrik Schick's contract until 2030
LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AP) — Bayer Leverkusen has extended a contract for Czech Republic striker Patrik Schick until 2030, the German Bundesliga club said on Monday. Schick's original deal was to expire in 2027. The announcement came after a string of key players left the club this off-season. They include midfielder Granit Xhaka, attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, right back Jeremie Frimpong and defender Jonathan Tah — all crucial to Leverkusen's league and cup double in 2024. Also, coach Xabi Alonso departed for Real Madrid. Schick was Leverkusen's top scorer last season with 27 goals in 45 games and scored a total of 64 goals in the Bundesliga for the club since his arrival in 2020. Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who was appointed in May to replace Alonso, is faced with a big rebuild due to the departures. Leverkusen's off-season spending so far has gone on American attacking midfielder Malik Tillman from PSV Eindhoven and former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah, while the club's also signed Brentford's highly-rated goalkeeper Mark Flekken. 'Bayer 04 is working hard to assemble a top team for the future,' Schick said. 'I firmly believe that we will continue to play a significant role in the Bundesliga and in Europe.' Vedika wins title at US Kids Golf as Aida finishes third; Nihal, Kabir in top-10
Pinehurst (North Carolina) [US], August 4 (ANI): Vedika Bhansali of Bengaluru emerged as the champion at the US Kids World Championship golf at Pinehurst Village. Playing in the Girls 9 years category, Vedika shot her best nine-hole round of the week with 4-under 32, and for the second time in three days, it was bogey-free. With 33-33-32, she totalled 10-under and beat Japan's Emi Minami by one shot and American Audrey Zhang by two. Vedika, who was fourth a year ago, had just one bogey in three rounds, each of which is nine holes for her age group. As Vedika picked the gold another Bengaluru golfer, Aida Thimmaiah (75-68-66) was third in Girls 11 Category. Aida's final round was brilliant as she shot 6-under 66 and totalled 7-under to finish third. The runaway winner was American Bella Simoes (66-62-67) at 21-under while Ananya Venkataraghavan (70-69-67), granddaughter of former India cricketer S Venkataraghavan, was second at 10-under. Ananya is now based in the United States and represents the US. Two other Indians finished in the top-8. Last year's medallist, Chandigarh's Nihal Cheema, was Tied-fourth in the Boys 8 category with cards of 38-39-35. In Boys 10, Noida's Kabir Goyal shot 72-70-68 and finished eighth. He started the day with a five-stroke lead and after an opening bogey reeled off five straight birdies — a run that included a 26-foot bomb at the third hole. 'I've been waiting for it for awhile,' Young said. 'I never thought I'd really be that emotional about it, but it's the end of my fourth season and I've had my chances.
