Pakistan Navy holds launching ceremony of PNS Sahiwal Gun Boat
Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami graced the occasion as the chief guest, , said a news release issued by the Directorate General Public Relations (Pak Navy).
Navy conducts exercise with Italian Navy ship
PNS Sahiwal (Desig) Gun Boat has been indigenously designed by Platform Design Wing (PDW) of Pakistan Navy and is under construction at KS&EW. This state-of-the-art vessel will be equipped with high-performance, long-range semi automatic guns, enhancing its operational effectiveness in maritime missions, the Pakistan Navy stated.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Bilgrami appreciated joint efforts of PDW of Pakistan Navy and KS&EW in furthering Pakistan Navy's policy of indigenisation. He extended his gratitude to the Ministry of Defence Production for its continued support to KS&EW.

The vice chief of naval staff also highlighted that the Gun Boat will be equipped to perform diverse maritime security tasks. 'Pakistan Navy is considering additional production of Gun Boats. It would eventually boost both indigenisation process and uplift of KS&EW,' he maintained.
The launching ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials from Pakistan Navy including representatives from the Ministry of Defence Production, KS&EW and Shipbuilding Industry.

Philippines, India hold first joint sail in South China Sea
MANILA: The Philippine and Indian navies have sailed together for the first time in the South China Sea, officials said on Monday, as President Ferdinand Marcos left Manila for New Delhi for a state visit. The Philippines has conducted 'maritime cooperative activities' with foreign navies since late 2023 as part of its push to counter China's expansive claims in the waterway, including joint passages with treaty ally the United States, as well as Japan, Australia, France and Canada. An Indian official said the passage was in the West Philippine Sea and part of a bilateral exercise with Manila, where its ships arrived on Friday as part of India's outreach to build partnerships in the Indo-Pacific. Philippine military chief Romeo Brawner said the idea for the two-day joint passage, which started on Sunday and was inside the Philippines' exclusive economic zone, came about when he met his counterpart in India in March. 'We did not experience any untoward incidents, but there are still those shadowing us - as we had already expected,' Brawner told reporters, without referring directly to China. Pakistan Navy's rescue operation helps injured Indian crew member China's foreign ministry said in a statement that territorial and maritime disputes should be resolved between the countries directly involved and no third party should intervene. Indian Navy ships that took part included guided missile destroyer INS Delhi, tanker INS Shakti and corvette INS Kiltan. The Philippines deployed two frigates, BRP Miguel Malvar and BRP Jose Rizal. The exercise coincided with Marcos' departure for a five-day trip to India, where he said he would look to deepen maritime ties and seek cooperation on sectors including defence, pharmaceuticals and agriculture. China claims nearly the entire South China Sea, overlapping with maritime zones of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam. The waterway is a strategic shipping route where $3 trillion of annual shipborne commerce takes place. A 2016 ruling of an international arbitral tribunal found Beijing's sweeping claims had no basis under international law, a decision China rejected.

Vice chief of naval staff confers military awards upon Pakistan Navy personnel
Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami on Monday conferred various military awards upon Pakistan Navy personnel, including Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military), Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military), Tamgha-e-Basalat and Tamgha-e-Khidmat (Military). The vice chief of the naval staff graced the Pakistan Navy Investiture Ceremony (North) in Islamabad as the chief guest. On this occasion, Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) was awarded to Commodore Syed Muhammad Abbas Naqvi, Commodore Aamer Rasheed Malik, Commodore Kashif Elahi, Commodore Muhammad Afsar Khan, Commodore Rao Ahmed Imran Anwar, Commodore Dr Anwar Hussain, Commodore Shahid Ahmed, Commodore Raja Muhammad Nasir, Commodore Jawad Haider Khawaja, Commodore Muhammad Zahid Zaheer, Captain Jawad Malik PN and Captain Atif Aman Chughtai PN, the Director General Public Relations (DGPR) – Navy said. Whereas, the recipients of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) were Captain Hasan Ali Chauhan PN, Commander Zahid Mahmood Javed PN, Commander M Fahad Farooq PN, Commander Tahir Jabran Khan PN, Commander Aqeel Iftikhar PN, Commander Muhammad Tariq Rehman PN, Commander Abdullah PN, Commander Nadia Zulfiqar PN, Commander Umair Hafeez PN, Commander Asghar Ali PN, Lt Commander Nazish Javid PN, Lt Commander Muhammad Naeem PN, Lt Commander Shah Nawaz Abbasi PN, Lt Commander Talha Naveed PN, Lt Commander Muhammad Ali Shah PN and Lt Commander Mohsin Rashid PN.
