If you want a talking pet, your best bet is to get some kind of a parrot, usually. They can learn to talk, sing, make sounds like the ocean... A parrot's talents seem endless. However, they're also very high-maintenance, and not everyone can have one. Good news, though: apparently cats can talk now, too!
At least, one can. On Wednesday, June 4th, one cat fully got caught saying "mama" on camera. It was clear as day and makes everyone question whether cats have actually been able to talk this whole darn time:
I can't believe @chloemragland24 has a talking cat. You have no idea how jealous I am... None of my pets talk, and I have 4 birds! This is the only video of this Maine Coon on her mom's account, but that's okay: it's the best one. She has a Pit Bull sibling, too, but they don't talk. They hog all of their mom's attention, but at least they can't talk! This kitty can, and she let everyone know all about it!
Chloe is also a mom to three kids, so she's referred to as "mama" often, and the word is constantly being used. Some have speculated that this might be the reason the cat was able to "say" it, and others claim their cats do the same thing!
Cats cannot technically learn and mimic words like parrots can, as badly as we'd like them to be able to. They can learn when the best time to vocalize is, and their different vocalizations can sound like words, but that's not what they're meant to be.
Most commonly, people claim their cats can say words like, "I love you," "mama," and "hello." It certainly sounds like they might be, and if they time it right, it really feels like they're responding to you. A win is a win! Who cares about technicalities?
It sounds like this kitty definitely said mama, and you know what? Maybe she did. Maybe cats are just fooling us all...

Golden Retriever Puppy's Funny Attempt to Avoid Eye Contact with the Cat Is Priceless

Golden Retriever Puppy's Funny Attempt to Avoid Eye Contact with the Cat Is Priceless originally appeared on Parade Pets. Any psychologist will tell you that in early childhood, older siblings often exhibit dominant behaviors over their younger sibs. That certainly appears to be the case with pets too, particularly with Teddy the Golden Retriever puppy and his older sister, a silver cat who is keeping him in line! 'When you can't make eye contact with your sister because she will punch you in the face,' Teddy's pet parent writes in an adorable TikTok clip that truly illustrates the ups and downs of sibling relationships. Take a look and have a laugh at the pup's epic side-eye. Experts note that this dynamic is often a natural part of the sibling relationship, and hopefully for Teddy, there will be a shift towards a more equitable power dynamic as he and his sister mature. But for the time being, Teddy seems to be falling into line, not considering for one moment the idea of looking his sister in the eye!🐶🐾🐾 Poor sweet Teddy! His sister is all business. Though we can't see this kitty's face, based on the fear in Teddy's eyes, we wouldn't mess with her either. 'The cat's little chubby neck roll nearly took me out,' wrote a viewer. 'Her ears say it all.' In fact, that cat is reminding me of a marine drill instructor! Don't do anything to ruffle her feathers, or in this case, her sleek silver fur, Teddy!'This older sister-younger brother dynamic spans across all species, I'm afraid,' noted a fan on TikTok. 'I one-hundred percent believe she was about to throw paws,' said another. Of course, Teddy has good reason to believe he might get smacked based on the strong right hook his sister has shown in the pair's previous escapades. Take a look at this montage of their past minor squabbles and skirmishes. Though Teddy has every right to be wary, it really looks more like his sister cat is giving him gentle high-fives or simply playing. Still, stay on your toes, little guy! Cat behavior can be, umm, erratic. In the end, there's really nothing to be concerned about, Teddy. A few months from now you'll likely dwarf your sister and this fearful feelings will all be a distance memory. We think they'll be fast friends in no time! Golden Retriever's Tender Patience with Baby Pulling His Fur Is Touching Hearts

Golden Retriever's Tender Patience with Baby Pulling His Fur Is Touching Hearts originally appeared on Parade Pets. Golden Retrievers are known to be gentle and loving. A top family-friendly breed, Goldens are wonderful with children of all ages and patient with varying types of temperaments. These pups are often around babies, yet it's best for parents of newborns often take extra caution when introducing their dogs to their new addition. Since babies are extremely fragile, it's wise to always have supervised interaction until your pooch is completely acclimated to a delicate infant. Monte the Golden Retriever is clearly close with the little baby of the family and kindly takes the infant's exploring habits in stride. The @monte_the_golden video showed the extreme patience on Monte's part as he sat next to the baby on a playmat. The infant kept pulling at the precious pup's hair, which had to hurt at least a little, but Monte barely flinched and just nuzzled his tiny sidekick. "POV: You have a Golden Retriever and they are gentle souls," the onscreen text read. Preparing your dog for a baby's arrival is very important. You can start by teaching them basic commands (sit, stay, lie down, leave it/drop it, etc.). Also, train them not to jump up on you and give them a calm space of their own. Introduce your canine to baby sights, sounds, and smells to get them used to what they'll be living with when your infant comes home. Let them gently sniff baby products like pacifiers, high chairs, toys, blankets, and others. If your dog tries to chew on these items, redirect their attention to their own toys and your fur baby to smell baby lotion, shampoo, diaper cream, and other scents to familiarize them with your infant. Playing a video of a baby crying or laughing is also a good way to expose your dogs to the different sounds the little one will make. Some parents practice socializing their dog with a lifelike baby doll. They go through the actions of feeding, rocking, and carrying so they'll see how their pup will react and correct accordingly. Monte seems thrilled about his new family member and is thankfully willing to put up with a few hair pulls for the love he gets in return. 🐶🐾 Golden Retriever's Tender Patience with Baby Pulling His Fur Is Touching Hearts first appeared on Parade Pets on Jun 6, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade Pets on Jun 6, 2025, where it first appeared.

Pontiac man left confused after dog shot and killed by sheriff's deputies

Robert White recalls Tuesday night when his dog, Minnie, was shot and killed by Oakland County Sheriff's deputies. It all started with him and a few friends sitting in the front yard. "Somebody was actually working on a car for a minute, so we were all just hanging out," White told CBS News Detroit. White says Minnie, a pit bull, was sitting in the neighbor's driveway. Eventually, deputies arrived outside the home. Sometime later, Minnie was shot. "(She) did not lunge at you, did not bark, didn't do anything, she was sitting there," he said. CBS News Detroit contacted the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, which released the following statement: "The facts show that a pit bull charged at the deputy while the deputy was on a sidewalk and retreating. The dog continued to charge, and the deputy defended himself. The dog was taken by the deputy to a veterinarian, where it succumbed to its injury." "I just need justice. My daughter is going crazy over this. That was her dog," White said. White says Minnie isn't a violent pet. He and his neighbors are still unsure why authorities arrived. "They just said they got a call about a fight, about a pregnant lady. I was too hysterical about my dog. Wasn't nobody fighting over here," he said. White says one deputy offered to take Minnie to the vet. As he carried her to the car, it would become his last time holding her. "They, trying to tell me to hurry up and take your dog to the vet so you can save your dog. I ain't got no money to take my dog to the vet." Less than an hour later, White got the call that Minnie had died. He says it's a confusing situation, especially since he feels left in the dark about the entire incident. "Killed my dog for no reason. No, I ain't get nothing. They didn't give us any badge numbers or anything," he said. Minnie would have turned 5 years old next week. White is hoping to honor her by getting answers.
