Iran's Richest Businessman: The war between Iran and Israel intensified further when the United States joined it, bombing Tehran's nuclear bases on Saturday. Furious over the American attack, Iran intensified the bombing of Israeli cities. Amid all the missile and drone attacks, the economy of both countries is getting affected. Businessmen are losing millions and crores every day, but today we will not talk about this war, but about Iran's strict laws and the richest businessman of the country. Iran's Oil Tycoon
Back in 2013, Iran's richest businessman, Babak Zanjani was arrested on charges of money laundering and corruption. Babak Murtaza Zanjani's wealth at the time was approximately 13.5 billion dollars (approximately 918 billion rupees). The 41-year-old built a massive business empire in a very short period, becoming Iran's richest businessman in just a few years. Corruption Charges And Death Sentence
Zanjani was arrested in 2013, during the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He was accused of illegally receiving billions of rupees from foreign countries in his accounts in exchange for oil sales. Back then, several foreign countries had imposed sanctions on the middle country, due to which the transfer of foreign currency to Iranian banks was not possible.
As foreign money transfer was not possible, Zanjani took the money into his account. But when Hassan Rouhani swore oath as President of Iran, he immediately issued orders to arrest the 41-year-old businessman, accusing him of receiving 2.8 billion dollars from foreign countries in his accounts in exchange for oil sales. Three Years Of Legal Proceedings, Then Death Sentence
Babak Zanjani's three-year trial resulted in a death sentence for money laundering and corruption in 2016, a verdict upheld by the Supreme Court. While initially sentenced to death, his punishment was commuted to 20 years' imprisonment. He remains incarcerated, having been accused of illicitly receiving USD2.8 billion in foreign funds linked to oil sales.

Telangana HC fines NIA Rs 20k over PFI bail delay; cites repeated adjournments, no progress since 2024

HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court came down heavily on the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for repeated delays in pursuing criminal appeals to cancel the bail granted to members of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI). Expressing strong disapproval, a division bench directed the country's premier investigation agency to pay Rs 20,000 as costs to the high court advocates' association. Though the agency filed appeals in 2024 seeking to revoke the bail granted to the accused, it consistently sought adjournments and failed to advance the matter. "We do not appreciate the delay on the part of the NIA in proceeding with the appeals. The appeals were filed in 2024, and almost a year has passed without even admission," the bench said, directing the agency to furnish proof of payment of the imposed costs on the next date of hearing. The order was given on June 16. The PFI members were accused of allegedly motivating and radicalising youth to carry out violent terrorist activities and were booked under different sections of the IPC and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The Nizamabad police filed the case in 2022 and subsequently, the NIA registered a fresh case and took up the investigation. NIA failed to act despite repeated adjournments: HC The court further pointed out that despite multiple adjournments since Sept 2024, the National Investigation Agency had not taken substantial steps to move the appeals forward. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo It cited various excuses ranging from pending related appeals in the Supreme Court to the alleged unavailability of apex court orders. The agency earlier claimed that the Supreme Court had passed an order on May 30, 2025. However, during the June 16 hearing, the agency submitted the top court order (dated April 30, 2025), undermining the credibility of its earlier claim and casting doubt on its justifications for the repeated delays. The high court bench also recorded that the agency failed to appear for a scheduled hearing in March. On another occasion in April, the NIA cited that related matters were expected to be listed before the Supreme Court.

Qatar says one Iranian missile reaches U.S. airbase, airspace reopened

Doha, June 24 (UNI) Qatar's air defence systems intercepted 18 of 19 Iranian ballistic missiles targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, which hosts U.S. forces, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced Monday. One missile impacted inside the base without causing any casualties or material damage. Shayeq Al-Hajri, deputy chief of Joint Operations, confirmed in a press conference that the missiles were launched in two separate waves. The intercepted missiles were destroyed over the sea after entering Qatari airspace. "We received intelligence earlier in the day indicating a threat to several regional military installations, including Al Udeid," Al-Hajri stated. He emphasised Qatar's military readiness, noting that its capabilities "go beyond what has been demonstrated." The attack prompted a temporary suspension of all air traffic. The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority later announced the full resumption of flights, praising the coordination among government agencies to ensure aviation safety. In a subsequent briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari said Qatar is weighing a "firm and wise" diplomatic response. He described the attack as a "surprise" given Doha's significant diplomatic efforts to mediate regional conflicts. Al Ansari confirmed that Iran had provided advance notice of the attack to both the United States and Qatar through diplomatic channels. He affirmed that the incident would not deter Qatar from its ongoing mediation role. UNI XINHUA ARN

Trump announces ceasefire between Israel, Iran

Washington, June 24 (UNI) U.S. President Donald Trump announced Monday that Israel and Iran have reached a formal agreement to implement a complete and total ceasefire, marking what he called the end of the "12-Day War." In a post on his Truth Social platform at 6:02 p.m. Monday, Trump congratulated both nations and revealed that the ceasefire will begin in approximately six hours, following the completion of each side's ongoing military operations. The ceasefire will initially last 12 hours, during which the opposing side will maintain a posture of "peace and respect." According to Trump, Iran will initiate the ceasefire, followed by Israel 12 hours later, culminating in an official declaration of the war's end at the 24-hour mark. "On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will," Trump wrote, "I would like to congratulate both countries... on having the stamina, courage, and intelligence to end what should be called 'THE 12 DAY WAR.'" Calling the agreement a breakthrough that "could have saved the Middle East from years of destruction," Trump ended his announcement with a sweeping message of unity: "God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!" There has been no immediate confirmation from Israeli or Iranian officials. White House and Pentagon sources have yet to issue official statements. UNI XINHUA ARN
