Rockville man faces felony charges after road rage incident, police say

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — A Rockville man is behind held without bond after a road rage incident escalated on Thursday, state police detailed.
Maryland State Police (MSP) said charges against 43-year-old Joshua Johnson include first-degree and second-degree assault, as well as using a firearm during a felony crime.
On May 15, MSP troopers received an emergency call from a driver who reported a road rage incident on I-270 in the area of Montrose Road in Rockville. The victim said that the driver of a black Hyundai Santa Fe pointed a gun at them during a road rage dispute.
MCPD: Man dies in hospital after stabbing in Silver Spring
The victim was not hurt.
Investigators identified Johnson as the driver involved and searched his car, resulting in the seizure of a loaded gun from his driver's seat.
Johnson was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. () — A 44-year-old man died after he was hit by a car while trying to cross U.S. Route 301 (Crain Highway) in Charles County on Friday, according to police. Just before 2 p.m., troopers from Maryland State Police and deputies from the Charles County Sheriff's Office responded to U.S. Route 301 just north of Smallwood Drive for a serious collision involving a vehicle. Two hurt in crash involving Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service tanker At the scene, police learned that a Chevrolet Traverse driven by a 21-year-old man was traveling north of Smallwood Drive on Crain Highway when a pedestrian, identified as Edward Coates, 44, of Waldorf, was trying to cross the northbound lanes of the highway. That's when, for unknown reasons, Coates crossed into the travel path of the SUV, and it hit him, according to MSP. Medics tried to save Coates, but he died at the scene. Police noted that he was not in a marked or 'implied' crosswalk at the time of the crash. MSP urges anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Sergeant J. PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. () — A Prince George's County man is facing several charges related to the production, possession, and viewing of child pornography, police said Friday. Maryland State Police (MSP) arrested Edwin Antonio Valdez Olivar, 41, of Beltsville, on Thursday following an investigation from MSP's Computer Crimes Unit, a task force focusing on using the internet to identify those involved in child pornography. Through the investigation, which began in December 2024, troopers discovered that Olivar was receiving photos and images depicting child pornography on his cell phone, according to MSP. Man dead after mid-morning shooting in Prince George's County On May 29, troopers from the Computer Crimes Unit and the College Park Barrack, along with officers from the Prince George's County Police Department and agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, executed a search warrant at Olivar's home in Beltsville, promptly arresting him. Authorities charged Olivar with seven counts of possession of child pornography, seven counts of accessing and viewing child pornography, and seven felony counts of charges related to causing the production of child pornography.
