American defender Caleb Wiley was again loaned from Chelsea to second-tier Watford on Tuesday after spending the second half of last season with the Hornets.
The 20-year-old left back joined Chelsea from Major League Soccer's Atlanta United last July and was loaned to Strasbourg for the 2024-25 season. He made three starts and three substitute appearances for the Ligue 1 club. His last appearance was Nov. 24, when he dislocated a shoulder during a collision against Nice.

Luis Robert Jr. returns to White Sox lineup after missing 2 games because of adductor soreness

CHICAGO — Luis Robert Jr. is back in the lineup for the Chicago White Sox after missing two games because of adductor soreness. Robert was the designated hitter for Sunday's series finale against the crosstown Cubs, batting seventh. The center fielder wasn't part of the team's original lineup. 'The initial evaluation, he came in feeling better but still not in a spot where he could get out there in center field,' manager Will Venable said. 'We wanted to keep him plugged in and give him the opportunity to run around more, and he did. We talked about it, and he really talked his way into the lineup after that. We agreed that maybe center field wasn't the best thing for him but that we could utilize his bat and that he was good to go to DH. We ended up making the change.' With the rebuilding White Sox in last place in the AL Central, Robert could be on the move ahead of Thursday's trade deadline. After a miserable start to the season, he began the day with a nine-game hitting streak. 'He's going to go out there and compete and play the right way, and if he's not able to do that, we wouldn't have him out there,' Venable said. 'At the same time, I'm probably not going to ask him to steal third base. That's fair. But he's going to be out on a major league field and running around, not to the degree we're used to, but he'll be out there.' Robert, who turns 28 on Aug. 3, entered with a .206 batting average, 10 homers and 41 RBIs in 84 games. Robert felt the injury when he stole second in the ninth inning of Wednesday's 11-9 victory at Tampa Bay. The White Sox were off on Thursday, and Robert rested during the first two games of the series against the Cubs. ___ AP MLB:

Injured Rishabh Pant will miss India's fifth test vs. England

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — India's Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the final test against England with a foot fracture. India coach Gautam Gambhir confirmed Pant's injury for the first time after the visitors salvaged a draw in the fourth test at Old Trafford on Sunday. Pant retired hurt on day one when taken off the field on a cart with his foot badly swollen but he returned, limping, on day 2 to reach a half century. 'It's been declared that he's out of the series, and one thing I want to say is that the character and the foundation of this team will be built on something Rishabh did for the team and for the country as well,' Gambhir said. 'Any amount of praise is not enough for him, especially batting with a broken foot. 'I think the generations to come forward will talk about it and the generations coming forward should talk about it.' Pant was injured when attempting a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes and the ball deflected onto his right ankle and foot. India did not confirm at the time the extent of the injury, but he was replaced as wicket-keeper by Dhruv Jurel for the remainder of the match. He wasn't required to bat in India's second innings, with the visitors earning a draw in Manchester after Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar (101 not out) all reached centuries on the final day. England leads the series 2-1 going into the final test at the Oval next week. ___ James Robson is at
