Prayagraj: Newly appointed divisional railway manager (DRM) of Prayagraj Division Rajneesh Aggarwal conducted an extensive inspection of the Operation Control Centre (OCC) of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor on Wednesday.
His visit emphasised the division's commitment to harnessing advanced technology for safer and more efficient train operations.
ADRM (Infrastructure) and senior divisional operations manager (coordination) along with other officials accompanied him. The DRM reviewed train reception procedures at key locations like New Sonnagar, New Chirailapauthu, and New Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction and engaged with teams from Eastern Central Railway, North Central Railway, Northern Railway, and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor.
"We are on a path of progress, and it is essential to focus on our loading goals to support the growing demand for rail transport," said Aggarwal, while highlighting the importance of the Dedicated Freight Corridor in achieving load targets. He pointed out specific challenges in the Dhanbad division and advocated for improved planning and infrastructure.
The DRM also discussed the proposed connection between New Dagmagpur station and the Chopan area via Vishwanathpuri, underlining the need for surface crossings to reduce traffic disruptions. He praised the work of Controllers at the OCC and expressed satisfaction with performance systems like the Hot Axle Box Detector, Machine Vision Inspection System, and Wheel Impact Load Detector .
The day also witnessed the inauguration of a new running room at New Kanpur, a facility that provides essential rest for train crew and helps reduce operational delays.

South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager, Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, on Wednesday reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams at the Godavari and Rajahmundry railway stations. He inspected the Tuni-Rajahmundry-Rayanapadu section in Vijayawada division and instructed Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mohit Sonakiya, and heads of various departments to ensure proper planning and completion of works in time for the Godavari Pushkarams — 2027. He also inspected station redevelopment works at Tuni, Nidadavole, Eluru and Rayanapadu, and asked officers to follow safety precautions at the work place. Later, he visited the Kovvur station and enquired about passenger amenities. Officers were directed to speed up the works under Amrit Bharath Station Scheme. Officers from the Safety, Commercial, Engineering, Electrical, Signal, security and other wings accompanied the General Manager. .

Mangaluru: Madhukar Roat took over as divisional railway manager of Palakkad division in Southern Railway on Thursday from Arun Kumar Chaturvedi. Before joining as DRM, he was serving as the chief freight traffic manager (CFTM) in North Western Railway, Jaipur. Roat is an officer of the IRTS Cadre (Indian Railway Traffic Service) of the 1997 batch. He has diverse experience serving in several pivotal roles across Indian Railways, including postings in the Northeast Frontier Railway, Western Railway, and as chief general manager on deputation with Concor, Ahmedabad. While serving in Ahmedabad division, Roat played a major role in initiating and opening private freight terminals (PFTs), significantly enhancing the division's freight handling capacity. He was also instrumental in the implementation and execution of the Indian Railways pioneering policy on Non-Government Railway (NGR) operations at Kandla Port, stated a release. Following the pledge, he flagged off a walkathon to raise public awareness of cleanliness. Additional divisional railway managers S Jayakrishnan and K Anil Kumar, along with other branch officers and staff, were present during the event. The walkathon, conducted from the divisional office to Palakkad Junction railway station, witnessed enthusiastic participation. As part of the ongoing activities, a Nukkad Natak (street play) will be performed by the Railway Drama Theatre team at Palakkad Junction railway station on Sunday. To engage passengers and the public, a swachhata-themed selfie point has been installed at Palakkad Junction and at all major stations across the division, serving as a creative and interactive element of the campaign. 1 2 Kanpur: Two coaches of the Muzaffarpur-Sabarmati Jan Sadharan Express (15269) derailed between Kanpur and Tundla in Uttar Pradesh on Friday afternoon. The derailment occurred near Bhaurpur outer area near Kanpur while the train was switching to the loop line at point and line number four to give passage to two passing trains. The slow speed of the train averted a major derailment, said rail officials. About 15 passengers sustained minor injuries. The up track remained closed for three hours, brining 12 trains to halt at nearby stations. Senior railway officials and emergency response teams reached the site and carried out relief operations. The Sabarmati Jansadharan Express had reached Kanpur Central Station at 3:07pm on Friday, more than two hours behind its scheduled arrival of 12:50pm. Following a brief 10-minute stop, it proceeded onwards. Around 4:15pm, while being directed to the loop line near Bhaurpur station's outer yard, the sixth and seventh coaches derailed. Loco pilot Chaman Ahmed and loco inspector Sunil Sharma from Tundla were operating the engine during the incident. The derailment caused complete disruption of the up track. Railway operations continued on the down track. Senior railway officials, including NCR general manager Upendra Joshi, DRM Rajneesh Agrawal and central station director Ashutosh Singh, visited the site. Several trains were diverted after the derailment. The Lucknow Junction Swarna Shatabdi Express was redirected from Unnao Junction to Delhi via Lucknow-Moradabad-Ghaziabad. The Bikaner Superfast Express was diverted through Bhimsen, Jhansi-Agra Cantt-Bandikui, while the North East Express was rerouted via Kanpur Central-Lucknow-Moradabad-Ghaziabad. NCR chief PRO Shashikant Tripathi said helpline numbers were established. Normal service on the up track was expected to resume soon.
