A recent security breach of the women-centric application Tea has ignited an online debate. When talking about it, popular streamer Asmongold didn't hold back. His latest rant was all about the Tea app data breach, where he slammed user hypocrisy Tea app, expressing personal information leak outrage.
He called it pure karma for participating in an app that was designed for sharing dating red flags about men, or in his words, sharing private information on others.
Asmongold gives a blunt, fiery reaction to the
Tea app security breach
they leaked WHAT
The streamer Asmongold chose not to mince words while reacting to the Tea app breach. He directly targeted users' hypocrisy, who are now complaining about personal IDs and photos being leaked online. While his core argument was brutal, it simply stated that, to participate in an app the entire purpose of which was to anonymously leak men's personal details, makes the user's outrage deeply ironic.
Asmongold reaction to Tea app breach tore the app users apart with words, during his stream. He mocked the outrage over the leak, saying, '
if you are… crying about your personal info, getting leaked on Tea you wear on an app that's all about leaking personal, fucking Info….'
'That karma bro like that's 100 percent karma but how the fuck are you going to go and complain about getting a personal shit leaked when all you've been doing is leaking people's personal shit…,'
he starkly added further.
Asmongold and his comments highlight the situation's irony. Tea's entire promise revolved around anonymously sharing private details about the men, and yet the users were furious when they found out that their data had been compromised.
His comment read,
'Well that's what they get man and they get all this shit leaked and everybody's making fun of them. I'm so glad to see this happen. It was a self hosted firebase but uh Tea got bagged yeah dad jokes in coming I just say and that's the way it happens and that's what going on with it.'
Asmongold even doubled down, as he called the breach deserved consequences for participation within what he saw as a
'toxic platform.'
What is the Tea app safety breach all about?
Tea is an app that has positioned itself as a secure and women-only space to share dating experiences and even vet potential partners.
The features of the app included tools like AI-powered reverse image searches, detection of fake profiles, background checks, etc., with the aim to help users to 'date safely.' In simpler words, the app functioned like an anonymous whisper network. Here, women were able to post men's pictures, labelling them 'green/red flags' and even sharing their details.
The security promise crumbled, though, after the significant data breach, which, as per reports, happened on July 25, 2025, at 6.45 a.m. PT. Tea confirmed that there was unauthorised access to the old data storage system. As per preliminary findings, roughly
72,000 images
got compromised. It included
13,000 verification selfies
and the
IDs
that got submitted for sign-ups. It also had
59,000 images
from the public posts, messages and comments in the app. Quite importantly, Tea stated that email addresses and phone numbers weren't accessed. The users who signed up before
February 2024
were affected.
Company faces
Tea app user backlash
amidst its fallout
Facing intense scrutiny and backlash, Tea after women-centric app data leak moved quickly to contain all the damage. It was announced on X, by the company that they have engaged third-party cybersecurity experts Tea app to work with internal teams
'around the clock"
and secure the systems. The statement further emphasized that protecting the user's privacy and their data was the team's highest priority. It was also claimed that there was
"no evidence"
that current user data or any information beyond identified legacy images was accessed at the time of the incident.
The breach, as per reports, stemmed from an exposed database, which was potentially linked to the calls for a
'hack and leak'
campaign on the forums, including 4chan. Here, Tea drew criticism, quite particularly from the groups of men. While it was stressed by Tea that leaked verification images could not be linked to any app posts, 1000s of IDs and images exposure severely damaged the trust of users in a platform that was designed to offer safety.
The fallout of the company for now continues, but they are making their best attempts at rebuilding their reputation and security of it. However, at this time, blunt commentary by Asmongold has struck a chord, and many do agree that the app's user did get a harsh dose of their medicine.
