Japan Festival Fosters Cultural Exchange and Creativity at Ekya School Byrathi
The mural was unveiled by Hokuto Kaya, Consulate-General of Japan in Bengaluru, in the presence of dignitaries including Dr. K.C. Ramamurthy,IPS (Retd) Chairman, CMR Group of Institutions and Former Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, Dr. Sabitha Ramamurthy, President, CMR Jnanadhara Trust, Shri. Jayadeep KR Reddy, CEO, CMR Group of Institutions and Dr. Tristha Ramamurthy, Founder, Ekya Schools.
Teiko Nishimori has been traveling the world for over 45 years, leading large-scale mural projects that bring children together to celebrate themes of friendship, peace, and the connection between people, animals, and nature. Her unique process involves engaging children in discussions, listening to their ideas, and working together to transform blank walls into vibrant stories. This project at Ekya Schools marks her very first mural in India, making it an especially meaningful journey. Speaking about the project, Nishimori said: 'Because of the friendship between Japanese and Indian students, we were able to finish this beautiful mural. I hope to continue this friendship and create more art together in the future.'
Speaking at the event, Dr. Tristha Ramamurthy said, 'I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this incredible collaboration. This mural is not just an art piece but a permanent symbol of cultural exchange and creativity that will inspire generations on our campus.'
The festival, organized by Miho Sakata Malhan, Founder, Muse Creation, Bengaluru, featured a day full of enriching activities, including performances, workshops on Origami and Haiku, a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony, and art displays by students. The Muse Charity Bazaar presented sustainable products and gourmet treats, adding to the cultural experience of the day.
Adding her perspective, Miho Sakata Malhan remarked, 'This mural reflects the nature, culture, history, nostalgia, and future of Japan and India. It is a true representation of the friendship between these two nations and their students.'
The Japan Festival was a testament to how art and education can transcend boundaries, fostering creativity and building bridges between cultures. Attendees left inspired by the power of collaboration and cultural exchange.

Actor and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen recently revealed what it was like managing the Miss India Universe franchise from 2010 to 2012, a period when the global pageant was owned by Donald Trump. In an interview while promoting her series Aarya, the 1994 Miss Universe winner recalled being surprised when the Miss Universe Organisation approached her with the offer. 'They said, 'Would you like to take the franchise?' I was like, 'What? Really? That was like a dream!' I signed a pretty intense contract, and that was owned by Donald Trump, which didn't make it easy or fun,' she shared. Sushmita clarified that Trump was not her direct boss. 'Luckily, my only bosses at that time were Paramount Communications and Madison Square Garden, because they owned Miss Universe when I was an employee there for a year. I was a franchise owner for Donald Trump,' she explained. Although she met Trump during that time, the actor kept her remarks brief. 'There are some people who leave an impression, not necessarily because of their achievements or power, but for the people that they are. He is not one of them,' she said. Mohit Suri Called Uncle Mahesh Bhatt For Advice On Saiyaara: 'He Said Swear Words'
Mahesh Bhatt told Saiyaara director Mohit Suri to trust his instincts. Mohit Suri's latest film, Saiyaara, has become a sensation ever since its release last month. The film starred newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, who have also become massive stars due to the film's success. As Saiyaara continues its box office run, Mohit Suri joined CNN-News18 for a Town Hall where he discussed love, loss and of course, Saiyaara. During his session, he recalled how he called his uncle, Mahesh Bhatt, for advice when he was confused about a certain scene in the film. Mohit's mother, Heena, is Mahesh Bhatt's sister, making him the filmmaker's nephew. Mohit has often worked under Mahesh's guidance, and when he was faced with doubt during the shoot of Saiyaara, he reached out to his uncle and mentor. Referring to the scene in Saiyaara where Ahaan Panday's father gets violent with him, Mohit Suri said, while he was staging the scene with the actors, he felt it had become too dramatic. Mohit Suri said, 'At 7 in the morning the next day, I was going to shoot the scene. I sent a missed call to Bhatt saab. He was up at 4 in the morning, and he called me up. I said, 'I am feeling a little unsure, they're very nice people. I think I'm being a little too dramatic.' He has no idea about my script." 'All I've told him is the scene where the son gets violent with his father, he's an alcoholic. Bhatt saab just cut me off. He said a couple of swear words to me; that's him. I didn't realise that my profile picture was of my son's hand in my hand. He just said that the way you're holding your son's hand in a close-up, the kind of emotion you feel towards your son, no matter how, go shoot this scene, it's never going to have a wrong emotional connect," Mohit recalled. Mohit Suri said that Mahesh Bhatt mentioned, 'The son-father bond is too pure for you. How can the same person who has a DP like this even ask me this question? Go shoot it the way you want." Mohit Suri listened paid heed to this advice and it turned out to be one of the scenes that Aditya Chopra loved most. Meanwhile, Saiyaara has struck an emotional chord with audiences across the globe. The film's Indian box office collection has crossed Rs 300 crore, while the global total now stands above Rs 500 crore.
