Trina Storage demonstrates high efficiency and long-term reliability in verified field results
The project, part of a solar + storage hybrid renewable energy installation, has been in continuous operation for over a year. Performance evaluation was conducted by UL Solutions and the China Quality Certification Center (CQC), two globally recognized third-party authorities. Results show the system consistently achieved 95.2% DC-side efficiency and 87.1% system-level round-trip efficiency, placing it among the most efficient large-scale energy storage systems currently in operation.

Fully Integrated, High-Efficiency Design from Cell to Grid
The project is powered by Trina Storage's Elementa Series, a smart, flexible energy storage solution built with Trina Storage's proprietary in-house battery cells. Designed for flexibility and scalability, Elementa delivers high efficiency, safety, and long-term reliability by optimizing performance across the entire system—from cell to grid.
Key system features include a smart thermal management system, which keeps cell temperature variation within 3°C, and auxiliary power consumption as low as 1.8%. Together, these capabilities reduce energy loss by approximately 30% compared to conventional systems and contribute an estimated 200,000 kWh of additional electricity annually, boosting overall output and returns.
Verified Reliability and Strong Economic Performance
After more than a year in operation, the system retains 98% of usable capacity, indicating minimal degradation and strong cycle performance. This long-term reliability supports a 15–20% reduction in Levelized Cost of Storage (LCOS) compared to industry averages, enhancing project bankability.
With its high efficiency and stable performance, the system enables participation in multiple market applications—including energy arbitrage, frequency regulation, and reserve services — helping operators diversify revenue streams and shorten investment payback periods.
Over the course of more than a year, UL Solutions conducted a rigorous evaluation of the Feicheng project based on strict performance standards,' said Chen Chi, product manager in the Energy and Industrial Automation group at UL Solutions. 'The system has consistently shown optimal efficiency and cycle life, and low auxiliary power consumption throughout the monitoring period. These outcomes indicate a solid level of technical integration and reliable performance under real-world conditions.'

Energy and AI summit: Trump to attend Pennsylvania event focused on future of the technology
US President Donald Trump will make a push for his vision on powering increasingly energy-hungry artificial intelligence infrastructure during the first Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit on Tuesday. The event, spearheaded by Republican US Senator Dave McCormick, is taking place in Pittsburgh at Carnegie Mellon University. 'This summit is about catalysing $90 billion of investment and tens of thousands of jobs in Pennsylvania,' Mr McCormick said in his opening remarks. 'If we don't lead this AI revolution on our own terms, we will hand control of our infrastructure, data, leadership and way of life to the Chinese Communist Party,' he said. With AI continuing to expand into all aspects of life, the burden it places on the US energy grid is becoming more of an issue, as policymakers try to keep America in the lead amid a global race for AI dominance. According to a report from the US Energy Department, data centres consumed about 4.4 per cent of total electricity in the country in 2024. By 2028, that share could increase to 12 per cent. By most estimates, a simple query to ChatGPT uses 10 times more energy than a similar search on Google. The event has featured several panels and discussions on energy and AI, including how to best meet the energy needs created by the technology, and looking at the potential efficiencies that AI would create in the years ahead. There were also discussions about the need for data centres to keep up with the AI investment boom and increased user demand. During the opening panel discussion, alternative asset management firm Blackstone made a $25 billion investment in building data centres in Pennsylvania. Investors, entrepreneurs and business leaders from around the world are attending the event. Iran seeks sanctions-busting alliance at meeting with China and Russia
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has proposed setting up an international organisation to study ways to counteract sanctions after meeting Russian and Chinese ministers at a Shanghai Co-operation Organisation summit on Tuesday. Iran's economy is struggling under the weight of western sanctions imposed over Tehran's nuclear programme, which has been a source of friction for decades. Iran relies heavily on economic links with Beijing and Moscow, and is part of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation, a 10-nation Eurasian security and political grouping whose members also include China, Russia, India and Pakistan i. Tianjin, in northern China, is hosting the organisation's 25th foreign ministers meeting. Mr Araghchi said in a post on Telegram that the SCO should establish a 'Centre for Studies and Counteraction to Unilateral Sanctions' to develop strategies to counter 'illegal economic sanctions' and protect supply chains, banking systems and the trade exchanges of its member states. He also sought support for Iran following its 12-day aerial war with Israel last month. Israel and the US launched air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities which they said were part of a nuclear programme geared towards weaponisation. Tehran denies having any such plans. Mr Araghchi said the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation should also 'establish a permanent mechanism to monitor, document and co-ordinate responses to military aggression, acts of sabotage, state terrorism and violations of national sovereignty'. 'The SCO is gradually opening up its place in the global arena, meaning it is gradually going beyond the regional arena, and it has many different issues on its agenda, including in the economic, political and security fields,' he added. He said he would be holding bilateral meetings with Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the event. Iranian state news agency Irna said Mr Araghchi also met Chinese President Xi Jinping and would hold talks with Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Mr Lavrov confirmed the meeting with Mr Araghchi had taken place and said they had discussed how to reach a peaceful solution to the Israeli conflict. Since the reimposition of American sanctions on Iran during Donald Trump's first term as US president, Tehran has deepened ties with Moscow through a 20-year strategic pact, as well as with Beijing, which buys as much as 90 per cent of Iranian oil exports.

OPEC says world economy may do better in second half of year
OPEC said the global economy may perform better than expected in the second half of the year despite trade conflicts and that refineries' crude intake would remain elevated to meet the uptick in summer travel, helping to support the demand outlook. In a monthly report on Tuesday, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries left its forecasts for global oil demand growth unchanged in 2025 and 2026 after reductions in April, saying the economic outlook was robust. "India, China, and Brazil are outperforming expectations so far, while the United States and the Eurozone are experiencing a continued rebound from last year," OPEC said in the report. "With this, the second-half 2025 economic growth may turn out better than currently expected." The OPEC+ producer group, comprising the 12 OPEC members plus allies including Russia, is pumping more barrels to regain market share after years of cuts to support the market. The report also showed that in June, OPEC+ pumped 41.56 million bpd, up 349,000 bpd from May. This is slightly less than the 411,000 bpd hike called for by the group's increase in its June quotas.
