Jet2 warn passengers over latest passport and airport rules

Jet2 is gearing up for a bumper summer of overseas trips, and passengers are able to check in for flights as far as 28 days in advance.
From the latest emails sent to passengers who have checked in it shares "some handy info you need to know before you go".

These add that there "can be plenty to think about when it comes to travel, from checking your passport's validity to airport need-to-knows" and advise passengers to "visit our handy hub for the latest info, plus handy videos, FAQs and more".
According to the ECHO, travellers are also reminded that payments at Jet2 customer help desks and on board flights are card or contactless only.
And if you've booked a flight that is due to set off before 12pm, Jet2 adds, "you can drop your bags off the night before your flight.
"Our smart service makes your journey even smoother."
This "Twilight Check In" option means these passengers can drop off bags between 4.30pm and 9pm the evening before their flight, if travelling from Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, London Luton, London Stansted, Birmingham, East Midlands, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, or Newcastle.
On the "latest travel information" section of its website, Jet2 continues to remind travellers to "please check this section of the website at least 12 hours before your flight for the latest flight information.

In a post to X, the US traveller said he tried to open his accommodation window as his 'boiling' room was much hotter than the outside temperature but was thwarted by a child lock. He assumed the child lock was installed because of a regulation restricting how much Brits can open their windows. 'It's 100 degrees in my room, but 68 outside, but I can't change that because England has dumb rules,' he posted. The man later revealed that he managed to pry the lock off the window with his nail clippers because the hotel didn't have a key and 'every store was closed and nobody had a screwdriver'. Americans took the post literally and were shocked to 'learn' that the UK has a law that doesn't allow any windows to open all the way in a bid to stop children from falling out with one calling the country 'dystopian'. 'I have an American Mind and I do not understand this,' one person replied. 'I don't understand, so like they have a law preventing them from opening the windows?' a second asked. 'The amount of laws in England is wild,' a third commented and a fourth wrote: 'Wait wtf is this contraption?'. 'The way I'd lose my mind if I couldn't open my windows,' someone added. 'Might as well put holes in the bottom of buckets so kids won't drown in them,' a man said. 'Thankful for the freedom I have to open my dang windows,' another chimed in. Many were concerned the window restrictors created a hazard as people wouldn't be able to escape a building via the windows in the case of a fire. 'Yeah, best burn to death in case of fire to prevent kids falling out of the window,' one person scoffed. 'So if the building is on fire and the only way out is the window…you're dead, basically?' another asked. In the UK, there is no law that restricts windows opening all the way in residential buildings and homes however some hotels use the locks for guest safety. The safety cables can be released by key and are installed to prevent people, particularly small children, from falling out or from robberies. Window restrictors are only a legal requirement in buildings with vulnerable people like schools, hospitals and care homes. Brits were quick to point this out to the outraged Americans while some claimed they had never seen the locks before despite living in the UK for years. 'An entire thread full of poorly travelled Americans who think this is a 'rule' in England, rather than the choice of a single establishment with a single window,' one user quipped. 'I am British and have never encountered such a device. What is its purpose and what do you do in the event of a fire?' someone asked. Is it illegal to open windows all the way in the UK? No. Regulations vary depending on the type of building and between local authorities but residential dwellings are not required by law to have window restrictors. They are a recommendation, not a legal obligation, in houses and flats but some landlords chose to install window restrictors and child locks above the ground floor to protect tenants from injury or break-ins. Hotels often also have window restrictors to protect guests from falling but it is not mandatory by law. Depending on their purpose, some buildings must only have windows that open no more than 100mm. Windows restrictors are required by law in places with vulnerable people like children and the elderly including hospitals, schools and care homes. 'People really out there thinking it's against the law to open the window,' a third said and one commented; 'It's a window comes with keys. Stop being dramatic'. 'I was born and lived here all my life and never have I seen windows like that in any house in London,' a Brit responded. 'The rule was brought in because Americans kept coming over and falling out the windows when it was too hot!' another joked.

TRAVEL chaos has been caused at Euston station after a train derailment, with passengers to face long delays to journeys today. The train derailed at "low speed" near Milton Keynes in Bletchley today. 1 Commuters can expect significant travel days of around 90 minutes through London Euston Station. No passengers were on the train and no injuries have been reported, according to London Northwestern Rail. National Rail warn a major disruptions are expected until the end of the day, as some lines have been closed. In a statement on their website, the train provider said: "Trains running through this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 90 minutes or revised." Several trains are experiencing delays of over 90 minutes since the incident occurred. These include trains to Manchester Picadilly, Glasgow Central, Chester, Edinburgh, and Liverpool Lime Street. May I say on behalf of all Londoners – what is up with the tube at the moment? I'm normally quite an advocate for London 's transport system, but in the last few weeks I've had endless drama on my way to work, and have often had to complete the last part of my commute on foot (a 48-minute walk encompassing the entire length of Hyde Park, which is not a short stroll). During these surprise hikes I've been very pleased to be wearing comfy footwear, because otherwise the whole experience would be even more annoying. Most of us have suffered the tooth-clenching feeling of strappy summer sandals rubbing our feet, which on a hot, sweaty day can be extremely painful. One pair of sandals I've had absolutely no problems with in this department is Oliver Bonas's Raffia Weave Black Gladiator Sandals, which – along with Dune's excellent Luno style – win the accolade of being my most-worn sandals this summer. £75 Shop What's great about them is that I can walk miles and miles without any sore spots – it's basically like wearing trainers, which I put down to the fact they encompass a lot of the foot with their cage-like design, and aren't flapping around like a backless sandal or flip-flop (how anyone can walk very far in the latter is completely beyond me). These sandals also go with almost everything in my wardrobe, which is handy, and I think they look good based on the fact I've had a lady chase me off the tube to ask me where they're from. All the reviews online agree with me – everyone who has posted a review of the sandals so far has given them five stars, and said things like 'I have had SO many compliments' and 'They are so comfy, I wore them all day with no rubbing or pinching.' At £75, they're not super cheap, but cost-per-wear I'm certainly getting my money's worth this summer. The question is – do I need to buy another pair for when I inevitably wear these into the ground?
