A suicide bombing at the Saint Elias Church in Damascus, Syria on Sunday (June 22) killed at least 25 people and injured 63 others. As per a statement by Syria's interior ministry, a suicide attacker affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, known as Daesh, entered the church in the Dweila area, opened fire, and then blew himself up with an explosive belt. Following the attack, security forces have cordoned off the area and an investigation has been launched. This incident marks the first attack of its kind in the Syrian capital since Islamist-led forces toppled Bashar al-Assad in December last year. As per the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, this also marks the first suicide attack inside a church in Syria since the civil war began in 2011. While other churches have been damaged or seen attacks in their vicinity during the conflict, none have been so directly targeted. Watch this video to know more.

Congress slams Govt over US advisory, calls it ‘another diplomatic failure'
With the US issuing an advisory for its citizens travelling to India, Congress Tuesday hit out at the Centre calling it 'another diplomatic failure' of PM Narendra Modi-led government. At a press conference, Chairperson of the Congress digital and social media platforms Supriya Shrinate said: 'It is yet another diplomatic failure of the Modi government that the same country under the same leader whom Modi had gone out of way to appease by organising shows like 'Howdy Modi', 'Namaste Trump' and 'Ab ki Bar Trump Sarkar' was repeatedly heaping and hurling insults on India.' '… an advisory is being issued against us while Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir is being invited to enjoy a meal with US President Trump, who has, in turn, hyphenated India and Pakistan,' Shrinate said.

Jagan slams Andhra govt for ‘failing to support students and unemployed youth'
'The lathi-charge on students in Narasaraopet exposed the government's violent, intolerant nature,' said Reddy in a post on X, referring to police dispersing the protesters in Narasaraopeta city in Palnadu district. Hailing the statewide 'Yuvatha Poru (youth struggle)' protest led by his party on Monday against the alleged unfulfillment of giving unemployment allowances, Reddy said that the government has failed to honour its promises such as jobs and education support. Amaravati, Jun 24 (PTI) YSRCP chief and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday lashed out at the ruling TDP-led coalition government, accusing it of betraying youth and students. The former CM questioned why students were allegedly assaulted for simply submitting representations and asking for the implementation of the Rs 3,000 monthly unemployment allowance as promised by the TDP during the election campaign. Reddy questioned how many of the 1.25 crore unemployed youth in the state received the allowance. The YSRCP supremo further alleged that Rs 6,400 crore in dues from the erstwhile YSRCP government schemes, Jagananna Vidya Deevena and Vasathi Deevena, remained unpaid, 'forcing students to abandon education and seek jobs.' He alleged that only Rs 750 crore was released from the Rs 4,200 crore due under the fee reimbursement scheme, while Rs 2,200 crore was pending under hostel assistance. He warned Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu against crushing dissent and declared that betrayal, lies and neglect would not go unpunished by the people.
