PICTURES: What to expect as popular children's show Bluey takes to Joburg stage

Bluey's Big Play The Stage Show runs from 9 to 20 July.
With characters based on the Australian Blue Heeler dog the production is supporting an initiative, along with Woodrock Animal Rescue, to make sure that their South African furry friends will make it through winter with their tails wagging.
Audiences coming to watch the show are encouraged to bring along donations of pet food, blankets and pet toys for the dogs and other pets being cared for by Woodrock, as well as any second-hand books they'd like to clear out of their collections, which will be sold to help raise money to cover the organisation's expenses.
Special collection bins will be available in the Teatro's foyer during the show's run, and all donations will help to make the animals under Woodrock's care more comfortable during the cold Johannesburg winter.
Bluey's Big Play The Stage Show is based on an original story written by Bluey creator Joe Brumm and contains music by Bluey composer, Joff Bush. The characters are represented by larger-than-life puppets operated by talented puppeteers who bring Bluey, Bingo, Mum and Dad to life on stage.
This show is a theatrical adaptation of the BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning animated television series produced by Ludo Studio and is packed with music, laughter and fun for the whole family.
Since premiering in Australia, Bluey's Big Play has toured globally across the UK, Ireland, Canada, the US, Europe, Singapore and the UAE and has been seen by millions of fans worldwide.

Power FM ‘duly accepted' Pabi Moloi's resignation
Some listeners of the station wondered about Moloi's absence from the airwaves on the lunchtime show, Power Lunch. Power FM has confirmed that it accepted seasoned broadcaster Pabi Moloi's resignation from the station. 'Ms Pabi Moloi tendered her resignation on 31 July 2025, which we duly accepted,' The Firm, a subsidiary of the Shilumana Group which owns Power FM, told The Citizen. 'Hey friends, I resigned from Power FM last month. I look forward to this new chapter,' shared Moloi on her social media accounts. The broadcaster has been with Power for more than a decade, with her voice heard in one of the trademark jingles on the station. The Citizen reached out to Moloi on various platforms for comment, but she hadn't responded at the time of publishing. However, on Tuesday, Moloi launched her podcast, the Pabi Moloi Podcast. The podcast's first episode is broadcast under the It's A Brother And A Sister channel, which she owns with her younger brother Khabane, on YouTube and Spotify. He was spotted, he was offered this, and he brought me along, so it's not the other way around at all,' said Moloi. The two, who lived together at the time of speaking to this publication, said the podcast hasn't brought them any closer than they were. 'It was more of a thing where we're putting ourselves out there.' 'For me, it was very interesting to see our work dynamic, because we haven't had a work dynamic like this before. So, it's been interesting for me to watch how your [Khabane] mind thinks,' shared Moloi. '…So, merging those worlds and giving each other notes, I actually think it's made us… I feel closer to you. Rebooting nostalgia: 'Friends Like These' and the rise of friendship vacations in South Africa

It captivated audiences for 14 seasons by giving groups of friends a chance to compete in quizzes and various challenges, all for the ultimate prize: a vacation. The show featured two teams, one of five guys and one of five girls, often culminating in exciting rewards like vacations and cruises. Its fast-paced format and "battle of the sexes" theme made it a staple among viewers. For countless fans, winning a spot on the show and emerging victorious felt like striking the vacation jackpot. Because of its success, "Friends Like These" played a unique role in popularising friendship group holidays in South Africa. Today, years after its final airing, nostalgia has sparked calls for a revival. One user on X, @Nkulunkulu_God, recently tweeted: 'SABC1 needs to bring back 'Friends Like These'. We are grown up, and we also want the opportunity to go to Mauritius.' This tweet quickly gained traction, and even radio presenter and TV personality Sizwe Dhlomo chimed in, reminiscing about his own time on the show. 'Guys! I'm here to solve a big mystery for anyone who doesn't believe that the 'Friends Like These' cruises really happened. I just found my itinerary from 2009!' he shared, eliciting waves of support from fellow users. Mbuso Khoza pleads for payment from TV show boss Duma Ndlovu
Mbuso Khoza composed music for the Mzansi Magic faith-based telenovela, 'Umkhokha' in which he also acted. Musician and actor Mbuso Khoza has asked TV show creator Duma Ndlovu to pay him for work the muso did on Ndlovu's show Umkhokha: The Curse. Tagging him in a Facebook post, Khoza pleaded with Khoza: 'Please take my call regarding the money you owe me on Umkhokha from 2021 until the last season. Please take my call, I composed many songs for the show. Please awube wumuntu [please be a human being].' Khoza composed music for the Mzansi Magic faith-based telenovela, in which he also acted. Ndlovu, famous for the creation of the recently canned Muvhango, was the executive producer on Umkhokha. Mzansi Magic decided not to continue with Umkhokha, and the popular show last aired in February this year. After giving him days to respond to the allegations made by Khoza about the payment dispute, Ndlovu did not respond to The Citizen's request for comment. When contacted by The Citizen, Khoza didn't want to comment on the payment dispute and said he was busy with another project that had just been launched.
