Two 3-game gauntlets highlight make-or-break stretches of the Eagles' 2025 season

Two 3-game gauntlets highlight make-or-break stretches of the Eagles' 2025 season Six games may tell the tale during the Eagles' 2025 regular season.
Believe it or not, it hasn't even been four months since the Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl 59. Much has happened since then.
We've seen another NFL Scouting Combine and another round of Pro Days and Top 30 Visits. Free agency's frenzy came and went. The Birds added a ten-man draft class and a couple of handfuls of undrafted rookie free agents at the end of April.
Rookie minicamp is over and done with. Organized team activities come at the end of May and the beginning of June.
We've known who the Eagles' opponents will be during the 2025-26 NFL season for a while. Now, we know all of the dates and times of those matchups.
Two tough stretches will tell the tale of the 2025-26 Eagles regular-season campaign.
We've been teased with some early information about a handful of Philly's games. As promised, Wednesday's schedule release painted the entire picture.
Every game is important. No opponent can be taken for granted, and even though three tough challenges vs. the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and Los Angeles Rams come in as many weeks to start the season, there will be time to rebound and refocus regardless of what happens.
Two stretches, however, will write Philly's finish and set them up for an all-important postseason run: Weeks 10-12 and Weeks 16-18.
Week 10 - Week 12
Green Bay Packers (AWAY) - November 10, 8:15 pm EST
Detroit Lions (HOME) - November 16, 8:20 pm EST
Dallas Cowboys (AWAY) - November 23, 4:25 pm EST
Philly's bye week came after four games in 2024, but it came late this time. The Birds get a break to relax and recover in Week 9. Then, things get tricky. They play two of their next three games on the road.
They face the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions in consecutive primetime matchups. That Monday Football affair vs. The Pack could get ugly.
In Week 12, they get their second date with Dallas, this time in Arlington. Philly has lost seven of the past eight meetings with their hated rivals there. Fortunately, the win came during the most recent meeting, so the tide could turn.
Week 16 - Week 18
Washington Commanders (AWAY) - December 20, 4:30 or 8:00 pm EST
Buffalo Bills (AWAY) - December 28, 4:25 pm EST
Washington Commanders (HOME) - TBD
Four of the Eagles' final five games last season were at home. The road game was their only loss during that stretch, one vs. the Washington Commanders. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
Philly refocused and wouldn't lose again in their final six games. Four came during the postseason. One of those games was against those same Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
Three of the Eagles' final five games will be played on the road this time. Two clashes have been with those pesky Washington Commanders, sandwiching a road game vs. the defending AFC East-champion Buffalo Bills.
Pay close attention to Philly's performance. The Commanders represent their biggest roadblock to repeating as NFC East champions. These final three games could determine divisional superiority.

Vic Fangio feels good about Eagles' pass rush despite offseason departures

The Eagles' pass rush that relentlessly pressured Patrick Mahomes was a big part of the reason they won Super Bowl LIX, but that pass rush will look different in 2025: Josh Sweat, who led the team in sacks in the regular season and had 2.5 sacks in the Super Bowl, is gone. Milton Williams, who was third on the team in sacks in the regular season and had two sacks in the Super Bowl, is gone. Defensive ends Brandon Graham and Bryce Huff are gone. But Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio isn't worried. Fangio mentioned Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari as players he thinks he can count on to be a big part of the pass rush this season. 'I feel good about Nolan,' Fangio said. 'I think we'll feel good about Jalyx now that he's gonna get a lot of reps and develop. He played good for us down the stretch last year, and played a lot, as you saw, so I feel good about those two guys, and I think they'll continue to improve. We've got Uche, we've got Azeez, we've got three other guys there. I think we'll be fine.' The Eagles suffered heavy losses on defense in free agency, but Fangio has repeatedly said he trusts General Manager Howie Roseman to give him a roster he can succeed with. The roster will look different in 2025, but that doesn't mean it can't again land in the Super Bowl.

In 2025, after beating Florida 3-0 in the WCWS opener, they upended the Sooners 4-2 in the winner's bracket. Then Texas reached the championship series for the third time in four years with a 2-0 victory over Tennessee. Against Texas Tech, the Longhorns rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning to win 2-1 in Game 1. They lost 4-3 in Game 2 with the tying run on third base. In Game 3 on June 6, the Longhorns left no doubt who would rule college softball. They scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning against NiJaree Canady, the million-dollar transfer from Stanford who had thrown every pitch for the Red Raiders during the WCWS. She didn't return for the second inning. Mia Scott's grand slam in the fourth inning made it 10-0 Texas. The Red Raiders stayed alive with three runs in the top of the fifth and scored again in the seventh. After a final groundout, with a 10-4 victory secured, the Longhorns stormed the field, celebrated madly and hoisted the trophy. Pitcher Teagan Kavan was selected the most outstanding player. Washington Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore may be entering a make-or-break season.

Washington Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore may be entering a make-or-break season. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Washington Commanders made a trade with the New Orleans Saints back in November of 2024 to acquire veteran cornerback Marshon Lattimore. While he was only able to play in two games for his new team, he will play a key role for them in 2025. Advertisement And this season could be a very important one for the 29-year-old defensive back. In a recent article by Nick Shook, he picks some players who he believes are entering "make-or-break" seasons, and one of the players he lists is the Commanders veteran. "This is about earning the final year of his contract," Shook wrote. "Lattimore moved to Washington as a coveted trade acquisition but struggled to find the same form with the Commanders, posting some truly dreadful Pro Football Focus grades in the postseason. There's reason to believe a full year with Dan Quinn will fix things, and Lattimore is under pressure to do so this fall because the Commanders can cut ties with zero financial penalty in 2026." Lattimore will be a free agent after the 2026 season, so if he plays well in 2025, then he could lined up for quite the pay day when the time comes. Advertisement The veteran cornerback played 10 games in 2023, but he still racked up eight passes defended and 48 total tackles. The Commanders are hoping to compete with the likes of the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East this season, so Lattimore will be looking to help the team's defense do just that.
