Pakistan will play its matches in Colombo due to an agreement between the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) that India-Pakistan matches in ICC events hosted by either country from 2024-2027 will be played at neutral venues in the wake of recent military tensions between the two neighbouring countries.
The specific neutral venue for Pakistan's matches in the main tournament has not yet been officially announced, but it will be outside of India.
The first semifinal will take place in either Guwahati or Colombo on October 29 depending on Pakistan's qualification. The second semifinal is to be played the following day on October 30 in Bengaluru.

BCCI apex council to meet on June 14, IPL celebration protocols under review after Bengaluru tragedy
BCCI's apex council will set norms for victory celebrations. New Delhi: Following a deadly stampede at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium during an IPL match, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will discuss establishing standardized guidelines for victory celebrations at its upcoming Apex Council meeting. This will be a key agenda item at the 28th meeting, scheduled for Saturday. A stampede at a stadium last Wednesday resulted in 11 deaths and 56 injuries. The incident occurred when approximately 250,000 fans gathered to see popular performers. The BCCI admitted room for improvement in managing the celebrations and will formally discuss the issue at an upcoming meeting. 'The need of formulation of norms for IPL victory celebration will be discussed during the meeting,' a BCCI source said. The cricket board will discuss venue selections for the India-New Zealand series and review its age verification program, designed to prevent underage participation in youth cricket. Karimnagar District Cricket Association president V. Agam Rao's April 2025 complaint alleging financial mismanagement in Telangana's cricket infrastructure development is expected to be addressed. Following a complaint, the BCCI Ombudsman, Justice Arun Mishra, instructed the Apex Council to address the issue. This matter will be reviewed at their Saturday meeting. The meeting agenda also includes reviewing the BCCI's player and team official code of conduct, the tournament allowance policy for BCCI staff, the upcoming 2025-26 domestic season, and umpire and match referee training programs.

Steve Smith scripts history, becomes first non-English batter to achieve this feat in 99 years
Steve Smith. New Delhi: Steve Smith's strong performance in the first day of the World Test Championship 2025 final between Australia and South Africa at Lord's Cricket Ground on June 11 solidified his place in Test cricket history. After South Africa elected to field, Smith entered the crease in the eighth over. Rabada exploited the cloudy weather, removing Khawaja (0) and Green (4) in the seventh over. Marco Jansen dismissed Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head early in the session. However, Smith's 66-run innings off 111 balls kept Australia's progress steady despite difficult playing conditions, until Aiden Markram eventually bowled him out. Smith surpassed Warren Bardsley's 99-year-old record for the most runs scored by a non-English batter at Lord's Cricket Ground. This is Smith's fifth fifty-plus score at the venue, making him only the second overseas player after Shivnarine Chanderpaul to achieve this milestone. His previous notable performances at Lord's include a double century in 2015, 92 runs in 2019, and a century in 2023. Steve Smith holds the second-highest Test run total by a visiting batsman in England, surpassed only by Don Bradman. He also surpassed Viv Richards' record for most scores of 50 or more by a non-English batsman in England, achieving 18 such scores compared to Richards' 17. Smith surpassed Ajinkya Rahane's record, achieving the unprecedented feat of scoring over 200 runs in the World Test Championship final. His performance built upon his previous century (121 runs) in the first innings of the 2023 final against India, adding another 34 runs in the second innings to reach this milestone. In the World Test Championship final, Steve Smith achieved a unique feat, becoming the first player to score multiple fifties. Several other players also reached fifty runs, including Rahnae, Alex Carey, Devon Conway, Travis Head, Shardul Thakur, and Kane Williamson. Head is the only other player besides Smith to have scored a century in the match. Smith's recent performance places him second only to Virat Kohli in the number of 50+ scores in ICC knockout matches, with seven compared to Kohli's ten. He also shares second place for most 50+ scores in ICC event finals, tied with Adam Gilchrist and Virat Kohli at three. Kumar Sangakkara leads this category with four such scores.

1st Time In 145 Years: Australia vs SA WTC Final Witnesses Bizarre Event After Pacers' Show
The first day of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final between South Africa and Australia at Lord's was marked by some superlative bowling performances from both sides. For the Proteas, Kagiso Rabada picked a five-wicket haul while Marco Jansen took three as Australia were all out for 212. The Australian pacers breathed fire too in the final session as Mitchell Starc picked two wickets while Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood got one each to reduce South Africa to 43/4 at stumps on Day 1. The WTC Final Day 1 was also witness to a bizarre first in 145 years, i.e., since the format was first played in England (1880, England vs Australia, The Oval). The WTC Final was the first instance in 561 Tests in England that the No.1 batter (according to batting order) from both sides were dismissed for 0 in their first innings of the game. On Wednesday, Australia's Usman Khawaja and South Africa's Aiden Markram were the two men. Hence, it became the first such instance in 145 years. Overall, it was the 10th time in Test history that such a thing has happened. Talking about the star of the day, Kagiso Rabada delivered a sensational performance, not only dismantling the opposition with a five-wicket haul but also etching his name deeper into South African cricket history. Rabada claimed figures of 5/51 in 15.4 overs, helping bowl Australia out for 212. His fiery spell was instrumental in shifting the momentum in South Africa's favour during a crucial phase of the match at Lord's. With this performance, Rabada surpassed legendary fast bowler Allan Donald in the list of South Africa's highest wicket-takers in Test cricket. The 30-year-old now has 332 wickets in 71 Tests, overtaking Donald's tally of 330 wickets in 72 matches. Rabada now sits fourth on the all-time list of South African Test wicket-takers. His five-wicket haul also earned him a rare spot in the record books. Rabada became only the second bowler to take a five-for in a WTC final, following New Zealand's Kyle Jamieson, who achieved the feat against India in the 2021 final. Additionally, Rabada became just the second South African bowler after Jacques Kallis, who took 5/30 in the ICC Knockout Trophy final in 1998, to register a five-wicket haul in the final of a major ICC tournament. Rabada's overall record in knockout matches at ICC events continues to impress. He now has 11 wickets in five such matches, at an excellent average of 19.27. His five-for at Lord's on Wednesday is now his best performance in an ICC knockout game, taking him to third on South Africa's all-time list of wicket-takers in ICC knockouts, behind Jacques Kallis (14), and tied with Shaun Pollock and Allan Donald (12 each). Lord's has been a happy hunting ground for Rabada. In just three Tests at the venue, he has now picked up 18 wickets at a staggering average of 16.83 and a strike rate of 30.2. With his performance against Australia, he also moved ahead of Morne Morkel (15 wickets) to become the South African with the most Test wickets at Lord's. Furthermore, he became only the third South African bowler to take multiple five-wicket hauls at the historic ground, joining the elite company of Allan Donald and Makhaya Ntini.
