No Chris Gayle, 5 Players From MI! AB De Villiers Picks His All-Time IPL XI
Legendary South African batter and former captain AB de Villiers played in a total of 184 IPL matches for two teams—Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (formerly Royal Challengers Bangalore)—and scored a total of 5162 runs. During his IPL career from 2008 to 2021, ABD hammered three centuries and 40 fifties. The 41-year-old cricketer, who is one of the greatest players of all time, in a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, picked his all-time IPL XI.
In his list of 11 players, ABD included five from Mumbai Indians and two from Chennai Super Kings. But surprisingly there was no place for Chris Gayle and Rashid Khan. Gayle played 85 matches for RCB in the IPL from 2011 to 2017 and scored 3163 runs. Rashid, on the other hand, holds the record for taking the most wickets in T20s. In the IPL, the legendary spinner from Afghanistan has played 136 matches so far for two teams and picked up 158 wickets.
In addition to ignoring Gayle, ABD didn't include any player from the West Indies in his all-time IPL XI. In the last 18 years, apart from Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell from the West Indies have played more than 100 matches in the IPL and made big names for themselves.
ABD included former India and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma as opener along with Matthew Hayden, who played 32 matches for CSK and also won the Orange Cap in IPL 2009.
Virat Kohli was included as the No. 3 batter by De Villiers, and the highest run scorer in IPL was followed by Suryakumar Yadav at 4. Surya is the captain of India's T20I team, and in IPL 2025, he won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season award. De Villiers included himself as the No. 5 batter, and he was followed by Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni.
Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga, who have only played for MI in their IPL careers, were the two pacers De Villiers picked in his all-time XI, and the two spinners were Yuzvendra Chahal and Daniel Vettori.
AB de Villiers' all-time IPL XI: Rohit Sharma, Matthew Hayden, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, AB de Villiers, Hardik Pandya, MS Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Lasith Malinga, Daniel Vettori.

Lost Father When He Was Seven, Family Couldn't Afford Milk, Now He's India's Greatest Fast Bowler: The Inspiring Story Of...
1/11 Jaspri Bumrah himself revealed during an interview that he had just one pair of shoes and t-shirt which he used to wash every day and "use again and again". (Picture Credit: IG/jaspritb1) Little did Jasprit Bumrah know that his love for fast bowling would one day result in a change in his fortunes too. He started by copying the bowling actions of famous cricketers before settling on the unique action that has made him the bowler he is today. Steadily, he started making impressions and overcame rejections to prove himself at every level before landing IPL contract with Mumbai Indians. (Picture Credit: IG/jaspritb1) Jasprit Bumrah developed his pin-point yorkers thanks to a condition laid down by his mother: As a kid, Bumrah would bowl inside the his home during summers. His mother would get disturbed by the noise and to ensure she got her afternoon nap, Bumrah had to bowl without making any noise. As a solution, Bumrah started targeting the area where the wall and floor met which unwittingly became part of his training for bowling accurate yorkers. (Picture Credit: IG/jaspritb1) Jasprit Bumrah told his mother at an early age of his dream to play cricket professionally. Despite apprehensions, Daljeet agreed and was soon pleasantly surprised how driven her son was towards achieving the goal. (Picture Credit: IG/jaspritb1) Jasprit Bumrah, who became a father in September 2023, holds several records including that of the most wickets by an Indian bowler in an away Test series (32), only bowler to have reached top ranking in all three formats, only Asian bowler to pick 150 or more wickets in SENA countries - and more. Vaibhav Suryavanshi's powerful shot nearly sends camera crew to the hospital
Vaibhav Suryavanshi "See the ball, hit the ball!" — that's been the simple yet deadly effective mantra of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Whether it's in first-class cricket, representing India Under-19, or donning the Rajasthan Royals jersey in the IPL, the 14-year-old prodigy from Samastipur, Bihar has captured attention with his fearless and explosive batting style. On Thursday, Suryavanshi was part of a promotional video shoot for Rajasthan Royals — and what was supposed to be a casual session turned into an unforgettable moment for the crew. Fitted with a GoPro camera on his helmet, Suryavanshi walked into the nets while five crew members were stationed at the non-striker's end, recording the session from close quarters. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! As the bowler charged in and delivered the ball, Suryavanshi launched into a blistering straight drive. The ball flew back like a missile, clearing the bowler and racing towards the filming crew. Startled and unprepared, the camera crew scattered, diving for cover. Some even lost their balance and fell in an attempt to avoid being hit. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the sheer power of the strike left everyone stunned. Had the ball struck any of them, it could have resulted in serious injury or even hospitalisation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Knee Pain Keeping You Up at Night? This Trick Could Help Instantly Learn More Undo A visibly shaken Suryavanshi immediately rushed to apologize. 'Sorry!' he was heard saying to the crew members, genuinely concerned about what could have been a dangerous accident. It was a moment that encapsulated both his raw power and humility. Suryavanshi had already made headlines earlier this year when he smashed a record-breaking 35-ball century for Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium — the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history and the second-fastest overall. That knock put him on the national radar, and he has only gone from strength to strength since. On his debut India U-19 tour to England this summer, Suryavanshi lit up the youth ODIs with breathtaking performances. He began the series with a blazing 48 off just 19 balls in the opening match. He followed it up with a 34-ball 45 in the second game. Then, in the third ODI, he notched up a half-century off just 20 balls — the third-fastest in India U-19 history. However, his most iconic innings came in the final Youth ODI at Worcester. There, Suryavanshi scripted history by smashing the fastest-ever Youth ODI century in just 52 balls. He went on to score a magnificent 143 off 78 deliveries, cementing his place as the highest run-getter of the series with 355 runs at an astonishing average of 71. While his red-ball numbers from the two Youth Tests on that tour were modest — 90 runs in four innings at an average of 22.50 — there's no denying that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already made a mark as one of India's brightest emerging batting talents. At just 14, his journey is only beginning — and the cricketing world is watching closely. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

Dravid, Shastri identified Easwaran as Pujara's Test heir, but...: Father alleges BCCI's IPL bias cost him India cap
Cheteshwar Pujara might have played his last Test match in June 2023, during the World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval. But the Indian team management had seemingly planned his exit two years earlier, with then-coach Ravi Shastri and successor Rahul Dravid reportedly identifying Abhimanyu Easwaran as his Test replacement. Abhimanyu Easwaran was identified to replace Cheteshwar Pujara in 2021 Easwaran backed their vision during the India A tour of South Africa in November 2021, where he was slotted at No. 3 — the same position Pujara held — and scored 103 in the first unofficial Test, followed by 55 in the second. Speaking to Vickey Lalwani on his YouTube channel, Easwaran's father, Ranganathan Parameshwaran Easwaran, revealed that the 'India coaches' had advised his son to bat one down on that tour, preparing him for Pujara's eventual role. Although he didn't name them, Shastri was India's head coach at the time, until he stepped down after the 2021 T20 World Cup, after which Dravid took over. "Abhimanyu was picked up for the India A side. He went to South Africa. With the advice of the Indian coaches at the time, Abhimanyu was asked to play one down, as Cheteshwar Pujara was leaving cricket. So he played at No. 3 and scored 103 against Marco Jansen and five other quality bowlers," the senior Easwaran said. Despite his performances, Easwaran was overlooked for the senior Test squad's tour of South Africa. His father alleged that the lack of an IPL profile had hurt his son's chances of selection. "By the time he came back from South Africa, Bengal lost in the quarterfinals to Karnataka. Karnataka played a pre-quarterfinal against Saurashtra. Bengal were out of the Vijay Hazare Trophy by then. So the talent scouts had nothing recent to show on paper. And this perception—along with the absence of an IPL record in my son's profile—is what I feel became a basic impediment to his India selection," he added. Easwaran did receive two call-ups from the BCCI selectors in 2021, albeit only as a standby — first for the home Test series against England, and then for the WTC final against New Zealand. His first official inclusion came in 2022 for the Test series in Bangladesh. Since then, he has been a regular part of the Test set-up as a back-up top-order batter but is yet to make his debut.
