Witcher 4's 60fps tech demo sparks hope for GTA 6 performance on PS5
Source: Rockstar Games A recent tech demo for The Witcher 4 has gotten people excited, especially fans who are waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6. Presented at the State of Unreal 2025 event, the demo showed The Witcher 4 playing at 60fps with ray tracing on a default PlayStation 5. This achievement has raised the question of whether other demanding games such as GTA 6 would be capable of such performance on next-gen consoles. Witcher 4's tech demo sparks GTA 6 frame rate expectations The Witcher 4 - UE 5.6 Tech Demo | State of Unreal 2025 The Witcher 4 demo, developed with Unreal Engine 5.6, showcased hero Ciri traversing verdant woods and chock-full medieval towns, all of which were rendered in breathtaking detail at 60fps with ray tracing enabled. The announcement came at Epic Games' State of Unreal 2025 presentation and immediately rang in optimism throughout the gaming world. Many believed that this kind of optimization would be applied to other giant open-world titles, particularly Rockstar's GTA 6, which is infamous for pushing technical limits. But CD Projekt Red explained that the demo was a technical demonstration rather than representative final gameplay. Nevertheless, its silky-smooth performance on base PS5 hardware hints that next-gen games can do more than thought before, based on engine efficiency and hardware use. Why GTA 6 might not do the same, at least yet Even with the optimism, experts caution that GTA 6 cannot be expected to ship with a 60fps mode on PS5. The engine of the game is built around Ray Traced Global Illumination (RTGI), which is deeply integrated and not scalable. This renders it difficult to offer a performance mode without significantly sacrificing the game's visuals. Even the PS5 Pro will struggle to maintain 60fps from CPU restrictions and the simulation-intensive nature of GTA 6. Additionally, Rockstar's official trailers have been capped at 30fps, furthering expectations of a 30fps launch. Developer recorded clips at higher frame rates are not representative of real-time console gaming. While The Witcher 4 tech demo shows that 60fps open-world experiences are possible on PS5, GTA 6 may not be able to replicate that performance at launch. Until Rockstar confirms otherwise, players should manage expectations and be prepared for a 30fps experience, at least in the early stages. Rockstar surprises fans with new GTA San Andreas iOS update
Source: Via Rockstar Games Rockstar Games has quietly released a new update for the classic version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on iOS, sparking surprise and delight among long-time fans. The update, titled version 2.2.21, went live on May 29, 2025, and targets key technical issues that had affected the mobile experience. This marks the fifth update in the past year for the original iOS version, not to be confused with the Definitive Edition. Classic San Andreas receives rare mobile update from Rockstar The biggest chunk of the update comes in the form of the solution to persistent frame rate issues. Several players had complained that GTA San Andreas was not able to sustain 30FPS or more on multiple iOS models. With release 2.2.21, Rockstar has finally fixed the issue, providing smoother gameplay on supported hardware. Traffic-related bugs, cars suddenly materializing or flying off ramps, are another large set of fixes included in the patch. In spite of the availability of the updated GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition on mobile devices, Rockstar has continued to update the original release to the surprise of the community. This support is particularly remarkable considering that the classic release has been out for well over a decade and many had assumed updates were no longer coming. Fans have turned to social media to thank Rockstar for its dedication to the older game, commending the improved performance and renewed playability. Full patch notes and community response As per the official patch notes published on Rockstar's support page , the update features three fundamental fixes: Fixed an issue that resulted in traffic appearing abruptly instead of fading in Fixed an issue that resulted in traffic flying away at high speeds when going down ramps Fixed an issue that resulted in a frame-rate limiter causing a lower than target FPS Though these changes may appear minor at first glance, they greatly improve the mobile gaming experience. The increase in frame rate, in fact, adds much-needed stability to gameplay, which has grown jerky on current hardware. Rockstar's surprise upgrade of the original GTA San Andreas on iOS shows that even classic titles continue to get a look. While fans continue to speculate Vice City's comeback in GTA 6 buzz, it's a nice reminder that the classics have not been neglected. Whether nostalgia or performance, San Andreas is just a little better now on iOS. Also Read: In GTA 6 civilians could call 911 and that might change how you play

No more early morning shows for big-ticket Tamil films even outside TN
Chennai: There will be no more 4.30am release of Tamil films even outside the state. Tamil Nadu stopped early morning release of big budget films in 2023 when a fan died in a stampede at 'Thunivu' screening. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Yet, producers continued to have releases at 4.30am in other states, while keeping the 9am show as the first show within Tamil Nadu. Now, big-ticket films, including Kamal Hassan's ;Thug Life;, will only hit screens from 9am onwards. Producers blame poor security in neighbouring states, rising theatre vandalism, low booking commissions for theatres, and paid reviews before release, affecting the bookings adversely. Even Ajith's Good Badly Ugly and Suriya's Retro had only 9 am releases. S R Prabhu, producer with Dream Warrior Pictures, said early morning shows are getting regulated in all states. "It's a challenge to secure police security for such early shows in other states. Fans come in craze, and mishaps tend to happen. So, many prefer not to have such shows early in the day," he said. Prabhu mentioned that paid influencers and YouTube reviewers who attend such shows give exaggerated reviews, both positive and negative, for reach. "So, even before a movie is released, it affects the booking. We just want people to directly view the show instead of getting influenced by such reviews," he said. Thiruppur Kumaran, representing Tamil Nadu Theater and Multiplex Owners Association, said fans come drunk and end up vandalising the seats and screens. "We cannot control the frenzy on such occasions. It's better to have morning shows," he said. People from Coimbatore mostly go to Kerala to watch, while those in Krishnagiri go to Bengaluru. Fans from Chennai go to Nagari in Andhra Pradesh to catch early shows. Prabhu also added that when fan clubs book in bulk, theatres don't get booking commissions.
