Several Trojans head to NFL rookie minicamps
Two weeks ago, three USC football players heard their names called at the 2025 NFL draft. In addition, numerous more Trojans signed with teams as undrafted free agents. For those who were not able to get a contract, however, there is still another option: Head to a rookie minicamp.
This week, it has been announced that several USC players are headed to minicamp with NFL teams. One of those players is wide receiver Kyle Ford, who will attend camp with the Las Vegas Raiders. In addition to getting to work with legendary USC head coach Pete Carroll, Ford will return to the scene of his biggest moment as a Trojan: the game-winning touchdown catch in last year's Las Vegas Bowl, his final college football game.

Saftety Bryson Shaw will head to Meadowlands and attend camp with the New York Giants. He will not be the only rookie with USC ties in attendance, as the Giants drafted Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart—who started his college career with the Trojans—in the first round.
Kicker Michael Lantz will make a much shorter trip, heading down the road to attend camp with the Los Angeles Chargers. Lantz was one of the Trojans' few bright spots in 2024, providing stability at the kicker position as a graduate transfer from Georgia Southern.
Finally, defensive lineman Gavin Meyer will attend two different rookie mini camps. Meyer will take his shot with both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins.
NFL rookie minicamps are three days long, and consistent of draft picks, undrafted free agents, and non-roster invitees. All 32 teams hold one during one of the first two weekends in May.

Athletics outfielder Denzel Clarke makes unreal catch for home run robbery vs. Angels
It's only June and we might have the catch of the year already after Athletics outfielder Denzel Clarke pulled off an incredible home run robbery. The Athletics are in Anaheim playing the Los Angeles Angels, and in the bottom of the first inning of Monday's contest, Nolan Schanuel took Grant Holman's splitter deep to center field. It looked like it was going to go over the wall to give the Angels an early 1-0 lead. Advertisement Instead, Clarke scaled the wall, reached over and caught the ball in one of the best catches one could make. Clarke got so high he almost went over the wall, but he was hyped as he landed back in the field of play. Mostly everyone, especially Holman, in the stadium couldn't believe what they saw. It was an impressive catch for a ball that went 398 feet to center field. Monday was just Clarke's 16th game in the big leagues after he was called up in May. Taken in the fourth round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Cal State Northridge, Clarke entered the night with a .224 batting average with one home run and three RBI, but he already has an all-time highlight play in his career. Advertisement It may just be something Clarke does as this isn't the first time he's robbed a homer. On May 30 against the Toronto Blue Jays, Clarke robbed Alejandro Kirk from a home run as he scaled the wall to catch the ball back in his home country. The catch against the Angels come three days after he had another incredible snag against the Baltimore Orioles, as he turned on the jets and hauled in the ball before hitting the wall to steal a hit away from Jorge Mateo. Raiders Named Landing Spot for Recently Released All-Pro Defender
Raiders Named Landing Spot for Recently Released All-Pro Defender originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Las Vegas Raiders welcomed in a new leadership tandem of Pete Carroll and John Spytek ahead of the 2025 NFL season. With two competent people now in place, the team can begin rebuilding their roster the right way. Advertisement That started this offseason with the overhauling of the team's defense, particularly the linebacker and cornerback positions. Now gone were Robert Spillane, Divine Deablo, Nate Hobbs and Jack Jones, all of whom were starters the last two seasons. In came Elandon Roberts, Devin White, Jaylon Smith and Eric Stokes from the free agent market, as well as a handful of drafted prospects, to replace them. Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander (23).David Banks-Imagn Images Many have questioned the talent and depth of the Raiders' roster, with the cornerback room in particular coming under fire. On Monday, the Green Bay Packers may have given them an opportunity to remedy this with the release of Jaire Alexander. Advertisement According to Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema, Las Vegas is among the teams who could land Alexander now that he is a free agent. "Now that Pete Carroll is the head coach in Las Vegas, don't count the Raiders out of the Alexander sweepstakes," Sikkema wrote. "Carroll knows how to build an elite secondary, as evidenced by the Legion of Boom during his time in Seattle. He is also known as a player's coach and someone who can handle big-personality players." Alexander has been a Second-Team All-Pro honoree twice in his career, as well as a Pro Bowler in two different seasons. Unfortunately, he has struggled with injuries throughout his tenure in the NFL. Only one time has Alexander played every game in a season, and that was all the way back in 2019. He has played in seven games or less in three of the last four years, including just 14 total in his last two campaigns. Advertisement Las Vegas is returning cornerback Jakorian Bennett, who had eight passes defended in just 10 games last year, as well as 2024 fourth-round pick Decamerion Richardson, who showed flashes last season. However, the additions of 2025 third-rounder Darien Porter and four-year veteran Eric Stokes may not immediately offset the losses of Hobbs and Jones, so the Raiders could use some experience at cornerback. Alexander could provide just that if he can stay healthy and is willing to restructure his $18.2 million price tag. Knicks rumors: How player input factored into New York's decision to fire Tom Thibodeau
The post Knicks rumors: How player input factored into New York's decision to fire Tom Thibodeau appeared first on ClutchPoints. Shortly after the New York Knicks were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, they decided to surprisingly fire head coach Tom Thibodeau after a five-year run at the helm. Advertisement Thibs took the Knicks to their first conference final in 25 years, but Leon Rose and James Dolan ultimately made the call to cut ties with the veteran boss, who will surely land a job elsewhere. That being said, it appears the players had their say in the decision as well. Via SNY's Ian Begley: 'According to SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley, player input during their end of season meetings with owner James Dolan in attendance was a factor in the ultimate decision to move on from Thibodeau. 'Players were respectful of the veteran coach, who they have a great deal of respect and admiration for, but they also pointed out in those meetings that there were things Thibodeau did that could be improved.' Advertisement Thibodeau has always been respected across the NBA by players and coaches. But, behind the scenes, there were clearly some things the Knicks players didn't love. That's despite him bringing a level of playoff success to the organization that they haven't seen in years. The search now begins for their next coach, with Jason Kidd and Ime Udoka reportedly on their radar. The Houston Rockets have zero interest in even giving New York permission to speak with Udoka, while Kidd appears to be comfortable with the Dallas Mavericks. Michael Malone is another option after he was fired late in the season by the Denver Nuggets. He was previously an assistant for the Knicks. New York has lots of candidates they can target, but this job doesn't come without pressure. Thibodeau embraced that and did the best he could to help make NY a winning franchise again. It just wasn't enough to help them end their 52-year championship drought.
