Several Trojans head to NFL rookie minicamps

Two weeks ago, three USC football players heard their names called at the 2025 NFL draft. In addition, numerous more Trojans signed with teams as undrafted free agents. For those who were not able to get a contract, however, there is still another option: Head to a rookie minicamp. This week, it has been announced that several USC players are headed to minicamp with NFL teams. One of those players is wide receiver Kyle Ford, who will attend camp with the Las Vegas Raiders. In addition to getting to work with legendary USC head coach Pete Carroll, Ford will return to the scene of his biggest moment as a Trojan: the game-winning touchdown catch in last year's Las Vegas Bowl, his final college football game. Advertisement Saftety Bryson Shaw will head to Meadowlands and attend camp with the New York Giants. He will not be the only rookie with USC ties in attendance, as the Giants drafted Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart—who started his college career with the Trojans—in the first round. Kicker Michael Lantz will make a much shorter trip, heading down the road to attend camp with the Los Angeles Chargers. Lantz was one of the Trojans' few bright spots in 2024, providing stability at the kicker position as a graduate transfer from Georgia Southern. Finally, defensive lineman Gavin Meyer will attend two different rookie mini camps. Meyer will take his shot with both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins. NFL rookie minicamps are three days long, and consistent of draft picks, undrafted free agents, and non-roster invitees. All 32 teams hold one during one of the first two weekends in May.
