One of NYC's best bars is coming to Hawksmoor Chicago for one night only

Time Out13-06-2025
You don't get named number five on North America's 50 Best Bars list without taking some risks. Sip & Guzzle, a two-level cocktail haven in New York City's West Village expertly stirs buzzy NYC nightlife with Japanese cocktail culture. And, now, for one night, and one night only, that acclaimed drinks team have partnered up with Hawksmoor Chicago, a Windy City favorite well-known for its midwestern hospitality and steak-and-seafood spread.
What began in east London in 2006 has evolved into a culinary juggernaut with restaurants in New York and Chicago, earning Hawksmoor placement on the World's Best Steak Restaurant list as well as James Beard Foundation mentions and Tales of
the Cocktail accolades. So you can expect to be in very good hands with this pop-up match-up, which takes over the Chicago venue tonight, June 13 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (final entry is at 9:30 p.m.
Attendees can expect two different bar vibes, all in one epic night: Guzzle will bring crushable cocktails and highballs, while Sip will deliver refined, Japanese-style creations. Plus, the Hawksmoor bar team will also be serving up select cocktails from their own menu. Those boozy tipples will be available for purchase a la carte, on Hawksmoor's second-floor bar while supplies last. While walk-in imbibers are welcome, reservations are recommended— RSVP via Evite is encouraged but does not guarantee a reservation.
The Sip & Guzzle Chicago takeover is a natural fit, given the Windy City cred of the team behind the NYC bar: owners Shingo Gokan's and Steve Schneider's combined resume includes not only NYC favorites like Angel's Share and Employees Only but also Chicago powerhouse Alinea, where chef Mike Bagale—who's in charge of the high-meets-low bar fare, including that $150 Wagyu sandwich—once served as the executive chef.

Cristiano Ronaldo fans worry for fiancee's shoulder with 'comically big' ring

Cristiano Ronaldo is officially engaged to Georgina Rodríguez – and almost certain to spend the rest of his days with her as there's no conceivable way he can break free from the sheer gravitational pull of the rock he's put on her finger. If NASA ever needs a new orbital anchor, they now know where to look. Georgina broke the news on Instagram with a romantic snapshot of the couple holding hands in bed, with her left ring finger sporting the diamond. It's hard to tell if there are actually hands in the picture because the view is mostly obstructed by a diamond so massive it may have its own weather system and possibly a small, uncontacted tribe living on the far side. The 31-year-old captioned her post: 'Yes I do. In this and all my lives.' Which is fitting, because that's exactly the sort of ring an emperor would be buried with to ensure they took it with them in their next reincarnation. Visitors to the Ronaldo household ought to be weary of Indiana Jones-style booby traps. Ronaldo, 40, first met Georgina in 2016, and popped the question two years after Saudi authorities politely pretended not to notice the couple shacking up without a marriage certificate, which is illegal in the country. Perhaps Ronaldo figured now was the perfect time to propose to the mother of his five children (she is the biological mother of two of them): he's older, wiser, and presumably has an accountant who finally signed off on the insurance premiums for that thing. The ring itself is an oval-cut diamond flanked by a three-stone platinum design, as if the main gem – roughly the size of a Ring Pop candy – requires two smaller, deeply anxious bodyguards on either side. And they're going to need backup. Experts estimate the central stone is between 25 and 30 carats, worth up to $10million (£7.4m). One jeweller told Elle the double-claw setting 'keeps it secure,' which is important as you wouldn't want it rolling off the nightstand and flattening a nearby village. Naturally, the internet has questions: Did Ronaldo have to remortgage one of his superyachts? Was the diamond ethically sourced, or pried loose from a Bond villain's volcano lair while ominous music played? Will Georgina need physiotherapy to lift her left hand without tearing her rotator cuff? One X user, @bettingkingz9, joked: 'It's the iceberg from the Titanic!' Harsh, but fair – though in this case, Leonardo DiCaprio wouldn't have frozen to death; he'd have been blinded instantly and staggered into the sea. Another, @cotina23, wrote: 'That thing definitely has the soul of a vengeful demon inside,' while @br0046 simply chimed in: 'She's going to have shoulder problems lugging that around.' Facebook users had similar sentiments, with Rosie Vasquez commenting: 'That ring is comically large.' Karen King said what we're all thinking: 'I'd be struggling to lift my hand with that massive rock on my finger.' Paul Devlin compared it to the infinity ring in Avengers: 'Thanos gonna be calling to get that back!' More Trending One Reddit user wrote: 'Thoughtful, it's an engagement ring and a weapon.' Rumours of an engagement began swirling when Georgina was spotted flashing an unusually bright diamond in public. The couple played coy at first, with Ronaldo previously explaining the timing wasn't 'quite right' – despite the couple sharing multiple children and nearly a decade of dating. Regardless of your thoughts on the ring, love is now officially in the air – along with the blinding glare of a diamond visible from three continents. View More » If you're unsure whether you've spotted it, just look for the sudden loss of mobile signal caused by its atmosphere. Or follow the faint sound of sirens as sunlight bounces off them and ignites nearby trees. Got a story? Bar Leone wins 2025 Spirited Awards' Best International Cocktail Bar

Hot on the heels of an impressive triumph at the Asia's 50 Best Bars awards ceremony earlier last month, where Bar Leone was once again crowned number one bar in Asia – holding its enviable position at the top of the list for the second year running – co-founder Lorenzo Antinori has yet another shiny accolade to add to his growing collection. At the 19th annual Spirited Awards held in New Orleans on July 24, and hosted by the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation (TOTCF), Hong Kong's Bar Leone was named the Best International Cocktail Bar of 2025. Not one to do things by halves, mixologist extraordinaire Antinori made the occasion a double victory by also securing the International Bartender of the Year award, cementing Bar Leone's already mighty reputation in the competitive drinks industry. Building on the 2025 theme of the Tales of the Cocktail conference, 'Evolve', the Spirited Awards recognises game changers who pioneer innovation, transformation, and evolution in the cocktail community through remarkable creativity and bold vision. Bar Leone's continued success on a global stage further elevates Hong Kong's prestigious position in the world of mixology, firmly placing the city as a leading player in the international spirits and hospitality scene. From Bar Leone debuting at a coveted number two spot on the World's 50 Best Bars 2024 rankings, to unveiling a dynamic new concept with the Cuban-inspired Montana, Antinori has plenty more surprises and ambitions up his sleeves. We'll raise a glass – or many – to that!

'I tried Fox's new pistachio flavour biscuits - there's one thing you need to know'

Dubai chocolate is still viral online, and the latest brand to join the hype is Fox's with their brand new Dubai-style chocolate biscuits and Mirror writer Niamh Kirk decided to try them out Fox's biscuits is the latest brand to jump on the pistachio hype as they launched their brand new 'Dubai Style' pistachio biscuits - but they have divided the internet. ‌ It seems pretty much everywhere you turn, there is some sort of pistachio flavoured food on the market all thanks to the viral 'Dubai Chocolate' bar. ‌ The brand behind the beloved Party Rings, Jammie Dodgers and Wagon Wheels have entered the Dubai Chocolate phenomenon, and as a true pistachio lover myself, I took up the seriously hard job of trying them for myself. ‌ Fox's Fabulous Chocolatey is bringing the luxury of the Middle East straight to the biscuit shelves and I couldn't be more excited. The Summer I Turned Pretty has major twist and fans are on the edge of their seats While they sound delicious with a "melt-in-the-mouth" pistachio filling, people have been divided over the might biscuits that are now available in stores due to being £3 a pack. While it is steep, the Dubai chocolate craze doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. ‌ The first thing I noticed was the size, they really aren't very big at all, but once I broke it in half it was absolutely crammed with soft chocolate and pistachio, so they definitely didn't scrimp on the filling. I can see why people aren't impressed with the price though as they aren't the biggest for your money. Excited to try, I bit into the biscuit and instantly had the soft melting chocolate cream which was tasty, it was very chocolatey but I didn't quite get the true pistachio flavour I was expecting. It gave a salty aftertaste, and a hint of nuttiness, but I can't say it was pistachio. ‌ For more stories like this subscribe to our weekly newsletter, The Weekly Gulp, for a curated roundup of trending stories, poignant interviews, and viral lifestyle picks from The Mirror's Audience U35 team delivered straight to your inbox. I think these would be great for those who are just starting out with pistachio flavouring and are wanting to try pistachio flavoured foods without being overwhelmed as it's a very mild flavouring. ‌ While there is only the slightest hint of pistachio that gives a slight salty aftertaste, it is still delicious. Each biscuit features a buttery cocoa shortcake base, filled with smooth pistachio cream. It's layered with a fine crumbled biscuit for a knafeh-inspired crunch and coated in velvety milk chocolate. It's finished with a dark chocolate drizzle to perfectly balance each bite - it's definitely a treat and I could most likely devour a whole pack with a cup of tea.
