Rose Merc secures exclusive rights to manage MCA Inter Corporate League 2025
In an exchange filing dated July 21, 2025, the company stated that it has been granted rights for event management, team selling, sponsorship, marketing, and promotion of the event. The league, set to unfold before the end of 2025, is positioned as a vibrant celebration of corporate camaraderie and sportsmanship.
According to the filing, Rose Merc will execute these rights either directly or through its associates, subsidiaries, or group companies. The MCA Inter Corporate League will feature around 100 corporate teams competing in a knock-out format for the coveted MCA Inter-Office Trophy, and a secondary elite league of eight top-tier teams formed through a player auction, played over 15 days in an IPL-style format with 32 matches.
Mazgaon Cricket Club, which granted the rights, acknowledged Rose Merc's proven track record in managing previous leagues, such as the Navi Mumbai Premier League, and expressed confidence in its ability to deliver an exceptional tournament.
The scope of rights includes comprehensive marketing across digital, television, print, and social media platforms; exclusive team selling and sponsorship rights; and full oversight of logistical and operational aspects, including match-day management, hospitality, and ceremonies.
Rose Merc described the development as a 'game-changing opportunity' and said the league would not only amplify its brand visibility but also foster a vibrant sports culture in the corporate community.
The company also shared the formal 'Grant of Rights' letter from Mazgaon Cricket Club with the exchanges as part of its disclosure.

Luka Doncic started doing two-a-day workouts after Lakers lost in 2025 NBA Playoffs
For months and perhaps years, Luka Doncic has been criticized for his lack of fitness and conditioning. A good amount of that criticism seemed to come from the Dallas Mavericks after they traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 1, perhaps as their attempt to justify what most considered a brain-dead trade. But by all accounts, ever since the Lakers lost in the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs, Doncic has been working hard to get into the best shape he has been in since early in his career. He looks noticeably slimmer this summer, and according to one report, he has been "incredibly committed to his conditioning" while adopting a strict diet. Javier Barrio, a physiotherapist, told Men's Health magazine that Doncic started doing two workouts a day with trainer Anze Macek right after the Minnesota Timberwolves eliminated the Lakers, and that he wanted to start transforming his body right then and there. "His goal this year?" wrote Andrew Heffernan. "Come into his first full season as a Laker in the best shape of his life. In three months. "No big deal. "Macek took charge of the workouts—except Sundays, Dončić hit two per day, with plenty of lifting, mobility, and court drills. But fueling the 6'7' point guard as he underwent this Rocky-style transformation may have been an even tougher job: a chemistry experiment where all the elements not only had to fulfill a specific function, but also taste great and make sense to Luka as he learned the ropes of performance nutrition. 'He's 26, and it's a learning process,' says Barrio. "It helped that their client was motivated. Luka's final game with the Lakers was April 30th; days later he was on the plane to his native Slovenia. 'He arrived May fifth, and said, I want to start immediately,' recalls Barrio. And he did: right around the time you'd forgive a pro athlete for kicking back with pizza and a few beers, Luka went low-carb." Doncic reportedly had a habit of enjoying his beer and hookah over the years. But he has apparently accepted a more balanced diet and health regimen, especially after all the playoff losses he has endured through seven NBA seasons. It was just one calendar year ago that Doncic and the Mavericks lost in the championship series to the Boston Celtics, which made it clear that he wasn't well-conditioned enough to take home basketball's grand prize. The criticism hit a crescendo when the Lakers fell flat on their faces in the playoffs a few months ago, and it seemed to culminate with coach JJ Redick telling the media that the team needed to get into "championship shape." Most interpreted that comment as being directed squarely at Doncic, even though Redick never mentioned Doncic by name when making the comment. But the Slovenian superstar is apparently doing his part, and it could mean lots of trouble for the rest of the league.

MicroStrategy copycats are getting out of control as Canadian vape company joins fray
The crypto market's bullishness may be tipping into speculative frenzy, if the latest MicroStrategy-style copycat is any indication. On Monday, a little-known Canadian vape company saw its stock surge on plans to enter the crypto treasury game – but this time with Binance Coin (BNB), the fourth largest cryptocurrency by market cap, excluding the dollar-pegged stablecoin Tether (USDT), according to CoinGecko. Shares of CEA Industries, which trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker VAPE, rocketed more than 800% at one point after the company announced its plans. CEA, along with investment firm 10X Capital and YZi Labs, said it would offer a $500 million private placement to raise proceeds to buy Binance Coin for its corporate treasury. Shares ended the session up nearly 550%, giving the company a market cap of about $48 million. Given the more crypto-friendly regulatory environment this year, more public companies have adopted the MicroStrategy playbook of using debt financing and equity sales to buy bitcoin to hold on their balance sheet to try to increase shareholder returns, pushing bitcoin to new records. Now, with the S&P 500 trading at new records, the resurgence of meme mania and a pro-crypto White House supporting the crypto industry, investors are looking further out on the risk spectrum of crypto hoping for bigger gains. In recent months, investors have rotated out of bitcoin and into ether, which led to a burst of companies seeking a similar treasury strategy around ether. SharpLink Gaming, whose board is chaired by Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin, was one of the first to make the move. Other companies like DeFi Development Corp, renamed from Janover, are making similar moves around Solana.

Gertie Couple to Open New Restaurant in Longtime Buttermilk Channel Home
is an editor and reporter for the Northeast region at Eater, focusing primarily on New York City, where she was born and raised. She covers restaurants, bars, pop-ups, and the people powering them. After closing their Williamsburg brunch spot, the couple behind Gertie announced over the weekend that they'll be relocating to Prospect Heights. It's one of two storefront takeovers they have up their sleeve, also scooping up the former longtime home of Buttermilk Channel in Carroll Gardens for a new concept. Both are aiming to launch by the end of the year. First up: Gertie will relocate to 602 Vanderbilt Avenue, reformatted as a to-go spot. For the past 11 years, the address had been R&D Foods, a prepared food staple, which is shutting down on August 9. Owners Ilene Rosen and Sara Dima have passed the keys to Gertie co-owners Nate Adler and Rachel Jackson. Rosen and Dima aren't going far: They will continue with their next-door home goods store, R&D Goods, which shares a backyard with the food spot. Gertie 2.0 on Vanderbilt will go all in on bagel production. 'We were baking and smoking stuff on premise, trying to be this juggernaut of Russ and Daughters and Katz's in one place,' says Adler. 'Seeing this resurgence of bagels, we are more New York-style than many of the newest additions to the scene.' They're working to add a hood ventilation to the kitchen so they can also fry latkes. And, they'll also carry on customer-favorite R&D Foods items in homage. By night, they'll host occasional pop-ups. It's a more manageable, downsized layout from Williamsburg, convenient to Gertrude's, their Prospect Heights 'Jew-ish' bistro, which they opened with chef-partner Eli Sussman in 2023. These restaurants, and their newest, the forthcoming Trudie's Tavern, in Carroll Gardens — at 524 Court Street, where Buttermilk Channel stood for almost 20 years — will be a part of RAD, their hospitality group. (The Philadelphia outpost the couple had in the works is no longer.) Trudie's Tavern will spotlight steak and rotisserie chicken in a kitchen led by Mike Cain, the last chef at Gertie in Williamsburg, who will also oversee the to-go iteration. They'll serve fried chicken-and-waffles, made with a matzo crust, in a nod to the Southern brunch spot once at this Brooklyn address.
