Aarti Industries shares see 20% surge amid strategic expansion and cost optimization

pharmaceuticals
, have gained nearly 20% in the past three months and 7% since its quarterly result announcement on May 8. This has reduced its one-year fall to 32%. A steady ramp-up in underutilised capacities, additional
capex
of ₹1,000 crore in the current fiscal year on top of ₹1,372 crore in FY25 and improving Ebitda from cost-optimisation efforts are expected to drive future growth. Of the planned capex, around ₹800 crore will be directed towards new product development, with the balance allocated for maintenance.
"Our large project initiatives at Zone IV (in Jhagadia, Gujarat) are being executed in a phased manner, with commissioning scheduled to progress through FY26," said Suyog Kotecha, CEO of Aarti Industries, during the company's earnings call.

The Zone IV facility is expected to support production of niche, high-value products used primarily in agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals, offering robust Ebitda margins.
"In FY25, several cost optimisation initiatives, both variable and fixed, were successfully completed, with plans to achieve similar targets in FY26," said Suyog Kotecha.

For FY25, the company's revenue rose by 15% year-on-year to ₹8,046 crore while Ebitda rose by 3% to ₹1,016 crore. The company has set Ebitda target of ₹1,800-₹2,200 crore over the next three years.

measures, these efforts are expected to bring the company closer to achieving its FY28 Ebitda goal." The company aims to increase utilisation of nitro chloro benzenes, di-chloro benzene, and hydrogenation units to 85% from 75% soon.
"The company has recently expanded its nitro-toluene (NT) value chain, ethylation, and MMA capacities (in H2, FY25) which will be ramped up in FY26," noted

in a report. "We expect gradual ramp-up tied up with demand growth which will lead to better operating leverage." The brokerage has upgraded Aarti to 'buy' from 'add' and revised its target price to ₹525 from ₹500. Company shares fell 1% to ₹480 apiece on Thursday on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Udupi to get Rs 150 crore for landslide, sea erosion mitigation
Udupi: The Karnataka govt has earmarked Rs 150 crore to address recurring issues of landslides and sea erosion in Udupi, said revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda during his visit to the sea erosion-hit Moolur Thottam area in Kaup on Wednesday. The minister told reporters that sea erosion has been a serious concern for nearly four decades. "Over the years, several measures were implemented, but in many places, they were not sustainable and there have been new places prone to sea erosion. The state government has now drawn up a Rs 300 crore mitigation plan for the three coastal districts, of which Rs 100 crore is earmarked for Udupi," he said. He said that the deputy commissioner was directed to submit a detailed proposal for Rs 100 crore, which will be finalised shortly. "This is part of a long-term strategy to contain sea erosion. Several methods have been tried over the years, some succeeded, some did not. I will hold consultations with experts, and once I am convinced of the most effective approach, we will proceed with the final action plan," the minister explained. Further, the minister said that in the coastal and Malnad regions, frequent landslides during monsoons prompted the govt to act. As a preventive measure, the govt proposed the construction of retaining walls worth Rs 500 crore across six districts. Udupi district will receive Rs 50 crore under this initiative. "In total, Udupi district will get Rs 150 crore, including Rs 100 crore for sea erosion and Rs 50 crore for landslip-prone areas. The DC was asked to identify vulnerable locations and submit a consolidated proposal," the minister said, adding that full-scale implementation may take up to two years. He also noted that IIT-Madras submitted technical recommendations for sea erosion control, which will be looked into. During his day-long visit to Udupi, he said that the damage reported this year is less compared to the previous monsoon. Urea shortage raised with Centre On the urea shortage, the minister criticised the central govt for not meeting the state's full requirement. "We are still short of 15%–20% of the urea stock. Some regions received early rainfall, resulting in early sowing. We submitted reports and wrote letters to Union ministers, including those from Karnataka, but there was no response," he said. He assured that district administrations, including DCs and SPs, are ensuring responsible distribution of available urea and urged the Centre to supply the remaining stock. Responding to a query on the 9/11 issue regarding land transactions, the minister said he would take it up with the rural development and panchayat raj and urban development minister. "We will discuss the matter and look into possible solutions," he added.

Arunachal to give permits online
Itanagar: Building construction permits in Arunachal Pradesh will now be issued through online process only with the launch of Online Building Permission System (OBPS). Arunachal Pradesh urban affairs minister Balo Raja launched the system on Wednesday. The OBPS is designed to enhance efficiency, transparency, accessibility, and ease the process of obtaining building construction permits for denizens of all districts, public or private, govt or business establishment, Raja said. He said the system aligns with the state govt's efforts to improve public services under ease of doing business. The minister stressed the need for ensuring wide publicity of the system so that the general public is made aware of the importance of the system and its consequences, if not adhered to by anyone. To facilitate OBPS, the Directorate of Town Planning will shift the department's website from static to dynamic mode. It will be more user friendly, interactive and can handle large amounts of data and user interactions efficiently with online banking facilities.
