2,215 inmates freed per Eid al-Adha presidential pardon

CAIRO – 6 June 2025: The Ministry of Interior said it had released 2,215 inmates from correctional and rehabilitation centers per a presidential pardon issued to mark Eid al Adha 2025.
The move comes as part of a decision by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to pardon the remainder of prison sentences for certain inmates who met the conditions for presidential amnesty during the Eid.
Families of the freed inmates expressed joy at their relatives' changed behavior and thanked the president for giving them a second chance to reintegrate into society.
As part of the holiday celebrations, the Interior Ministry also held Eid prayers in rehabilitation centers,
The ministry said the initiative reflects its commitment to providing comprehensive care to inmates and implementing measures to reintegrate rehabilitated inmates into society.

CAIRO – 6 June 2025: 42 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on several areas in the Gaza Strip on Friday according to Palestinian media reports. An Israeli fighter jet struck a five-story residential building in Jabalia, northern Gaza, resulting in the deaths of three Palestinians and injuries to dozens more. According to medical sources, three Palestinians were also killed and others wounded after an Israeli combat drone targeted a charging point for cell phones between tents sheltering displaced people to the west of Khan Younis, WAFA reported. A child was also shot dead by Israeli troops near the Al-Saraya detention area in Khan Younis. Another civilian succumbed to injuries sustained in a previous Israeli strike on the city. Israeli strikes have also killed one Palestinian in the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis. In addition, eight Palestinians were killed and 61 injured in renewed massacres in Rafah City in the southern Gaza Strip on Friday. The victims were targeted while trying to reach recently established humanitarian aid sites in western Rafah on the first day of Eid Al Adha. Earlier Friday, 10 Palestinians were killed and others injured in an Israeli raid on homes in Jabalia. They were taken to the Al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City.
