Traffic Police discuss last year's performance & prepare plan for 1447 AH
A meeting held on Tuesday in Sana'a, chaired by Director-General of Traffic Police, Major General Dr. Bakil Al-Barashi, reviewed the field performance of the previous year (1446 AH) and outlined the action plan for the new year (1447 AH).
The meeting, attended by Traffic Police leaders and officers, examined the challenges faced during the past year and proposed solutions and improvements to enhance services for citizens and boost traffic safety.
Dr. Al-Barashi emphasized the importance of strengthening traffic performance through regulatory frameworks that translate into practical steps on the ground. He noted that the success of any plan begins in the field, not in offices, requiring unified efforts, heightened motivation, and teamwork to deliver tangible results. He stressed adherence to the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership, as well as the Ministry of Interior, to enhance oversight and traffic discipline.
The Director-General stated that the new year's plan receives leadership support, as it includes key projects to improve Traffic Police operations and prioritize tasks. The plan will focus on raising awareness, discipline, and traffic safety while enhancing the efficiency of personnel through cultural and training programs on professional conduct with citizens.
He reiterated the need to develop the cultural and religious awareness of traffic officers through educational programs that reinforce faith-based consciousness, self-discipline, and commitment to divine guidance in fulfilling responsibilities. He highlighted that Traffic Police operations are rooted in the teachings of the Holy Quran, instilling values of honesty, integrity, sincerity, and excellence in service.
Major General Al-Barashi described the new year as one of implementation, follow-up, and development, urging all personnel to recognize their responsibility and duty in carrying out their tasks. He added, *"The motto of the upcoming phase will be: 'God's oversight before people's oversight—performance for God, service to people, and discipline that satisfies conscience before superiors.'"

U.S. Increases Reward for Information on Yemen-Based Al-Qaeda Leader
The U.S. Department of State has raised its reward offer to $10 million for information leading to the identification or location of Sa'ad bin Atef al-Awlaki, the current leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), as part of its Rewards for Justice program. Al-Awlaki, who assumed leadership of AQAP in 2024, has publicly called for attacks against the United States and its allies. He is also accused of orchestrating kidnappings of American citizens and leading militant operations in Yemen's Shabwah province during his previous role as an AQAP emir. The State Department emphasized that the increased reward reflects the heightened threat posed by al-Awlaki's leadership and aims to disrupt AQAP's operational capabilities. Additional rewards of $5 million and $4 million are also being offered for information on senior AQAP figures Ibrahim al-Banna and Ibrahim Ahmed Mahmoud al-Qosi, respectively. Information can be submitted confidentially via secure messaging platforms such as Signal, Telegram, or WhatsApp, or through a Tor-based tipline maintained by the Rewards for Justice program. This move comes amid growing concerns over AQAP's resurgence and its potential coordination with other armed groups in Yemen. U.S. officials reaffirmed their commitment to counterterrorism efforts and the protection of American citizens worldwide.

Houthi Militias Allegedly Force Students to Join Loyalty Marches in Hajjah, Yemen
Hajjah – Recent reports from local sources and human rights groups allege that Houthi militias are coercing schoolchildren in Hajjah governorate to participate in mass rallies glorifying the group's leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi. According to testimonies from parents and educators, public schools under Houthi control are being used to organize weekly marches where students chant slogans and carry posters of the militia leader. In some cases, students are required to watch recorded speeches by al-Houthi inside classrooms as part of their school activities. Rights advocates say these actions violate international norms protecting children's rights and education. 'Schools should be safe spaces for learning, not tools for political indoctrination,' said one local education activist. The United Nations has previously condemned the use of educational institutions by armed groups to spread ideology and recruit youth, warning that such practices can have long-term psychological and social effects.
