Aaron's mental health crisis forces John into a major sacrifice in Emmerdale

Metro07-05-2025
John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) is once again more than happy to take the role of local hero in Emmerdale, as he acts fast when his partner Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) experiences mental health problems.
We know by now that John isn't your standard soap villain. The character has a god complex and orchestrates situations that he knows he can fix, so he looks like an amazing person to everyone watching him afterwards.
While some of his plans have worked, others haven't. John attempted to help Nate (Jurell Carter) last year but he reacted badly to the medication administered to him. It meant Nate died, prompting John to dispose of his body in the lake.
A few weeks ago, John tried to get revenge on latest enemy Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) by attacking him with a plank of wood. However, John got completely the wrong man and ended up knocking Liam (Jonny McPherson) out instead.
In upcoming episodes, John is absolutely loving the attention from the villagers for his heroism award.
However, when he gets word that Aaron is struggling with his mental health, he prioritises his partner's welfare over attending the event.
When Vic (Isabel Hodgins) and Tracy (Amy Walsh) learn that John missed the event, they decide to hold another celebration in the pub. It makes up for the fact he missed the real award ceremony, and boosts his ego even more.
In the week, the lads gather at HOP for John and Aaron's stag do. As the first round of paintballing gets underway, Mack remains determined to try and thwart John.
John ends up hot on Mackenzie's tail though, and sneaks off in pursuit of his prey. More Trending
But how much danger is Mack in?
'The thing is with John, he obviously killed Nate but he didn't do it intentionally', actor Lawrence Robb said.
'Could he go all the way with Mackenzie? I absolutely do think so. If John were to fall into that kind of spiral of being a serial killer, Mackenzie would be right at the top of that list. So on that basis, Mackenzie's life is in jeopardy.'

He added: 'I don't think Mackenzie has seen the threat that John is, at this stage, so if there is a warning from John it's not heeded by Mackenzie. If anything, it spurs him on. I don't think anybody really knows how dangerous John is. If Mackenzie did, I think he would probably tread more carefully.'

Vicki hits 'tragic' pervert Joel with a very serious warning in EastEnders

Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) has issued her final warning to sick Joel Marshall (Max Murray) in EastEnders. It's about time that somebody shuts down his disgusting behaviour once and for all – but with Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) reluctant to turn his back on his son, he's pretty much been given free reign to do whatever he wants. In tonight's episode, however, Vicki swore to put a stop to that. She can see that her partner is effectively enabling Joel's vile ways, and won't stand for it any longer. Soon after his arrival, we discovered that Joel had upskirted a pupil in his class, and her family had ordered him to leave Australia in exchange for their silence. They'd also accepted a hefty $50,000 sum. The teen showed no signs of changing – recording himself sleeping with Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James), and introducing Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) to pornography. He then showed his new mate videos from an influencer, who spoke about women in a derogatory manner. The lads skived off school to take a trip into The City. On their journey home, Joel demanded Tommy whip out his phone and record something shocking. He stumbled through the carriage, falling onto a girl and touching her inappropriately. Later, Vicki met up with the victim and handed her £2,000 in exchange for her silence. In the aftermath, despite promising to do better, Joel has tore strips off Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), before seemingly leaking the latter's SecretCam content online. This came just days after Ross snapped branded his son a 'disgusting little pervert.' With the police reluctant to investigate, this couldn't be proved – but Stace' is adamant that he's responsible. Joel spiralled further after learning that Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) had aborted their unborn child, and attempted to slap her. A furious Vicki charged in his way, and dragged him home. He reeled off a number of sick ideologies, including his belief that reproduction is the purpose of womanhood. She begged him to open his eyes and wondered if he looked at her any different having not had any children herself. In a truly horrifying move, he asserted that if she pushes him further, she'd find out that a 'proper slapping would do [her] the world of good.' In tonight's episode, Joel goaded Stacey, spelling it out to her that he was responsible for leaking her content and didn't care about the consequences for her. She asserted that he was nothing more than a 'dirty, disgusting little perv' and while he may have fooled the others, he hadn't fooled her. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Meanwhile, Vicky attempted to corner Ross and fill him in on last week's events – but he quickly shut her down. More Trending Realising that her family's trauma would only continue for as long as Ross brushed off her concerns, she then caught Joel outside, calling him 'tragic'. He laughed in her face, but the smirk was soon wiped off when she told him in future she wouldn't hesitate to call the police. View More » Will Joel finally learn a lesson? Exit storyline for Cain in Emmerdale amid huge murder shock

Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) received an unexpected phone call in this evening's episode of Emmerdale. Earlier this year, Cain was told that his son Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) had been murdered. It absolutely knocked him for six, as he had spent from September 2024 onwards believing that Nate had cut off all contact with his family in the village. The most recent development has seen Cain discover that a man called Owen (Simon Haines) confessed to murdering his son, but we know that this isn't true. In reality, Nate's actual killer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) framed Owen by writing a suicide note that confessed to the crime. He did this in the hope it would give Cain and Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) some closure. It was a massive mistake, however, as the news left Cain and Tracy with the realisation that they would never truly understand why Owen murdered Nate. On top of this, Cain has dealt with family drama involving the likes of Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) . He's been through a lot, so it was a very welcomed and pleasant surprise when daughter Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) rang him in tonight's ep. In May, Debbie contacted Sarah and revealed that she had moved to Australia with her new boyfriend. Debbie departing for Australia – surprisingly – upset Cain a great deal. At the time, he had learnt that Nate had seemingly organised for his things to be moved from the village and to Shetland, so another one of his children leaving him hit pretty hard. Cain spoke to Debbie in this evening's episode as he wandered through the village. His daughter wanted him to visit, and Cain rightfully pointed out that if Debbie wanted to see her family, she would've returned for Nate's funeral. It was a fairly pleasant conversation, but it was interrupted by the arrival of DC Cole. The detective confirmed to Cain that new information has come to light regarding Nate's investigation. Later, Cain told a very shaken John that the police now believe Owen did not murder Nate. What will John do this time to cover his tracks? And will Cain leave the village to go and see Debbie? Doing something to stop the police looking in his direction where Nate is concerned may have to wait for John this week. A few days ago, a trailer was revealed that sees John chase Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) through the woods, moments after he discovers the truth about him. Mack dashes through the trees but ends up falling. Alongside these clips, we see John telling Mack that he has now 'joined up the dots'. While this is happening, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) looks set to confront Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller). They will share a kiss on Monday, but Robert reckons that Aaron still loves him and doesn't want to leave with John. At the end of the trailer, Mackenzie is seen begging for his life as John throws a large rock above his head, presumably preparing for the moment he murders Mack. 'Guess I really am the bad guy', John says. More Trending If Mackenzie is murdered by John, it will be the first time (as far as we are aware) that he truly intends to kill someone. When Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) was killed, John never planned for it to happen. He gave Nate some medication and he had a bad reaction to it, leading to his death. Could this be a sign that John will now become even more unhinged, ahead of his inevitable exit? EastEnders fans call former couple 'endgame' as they finally reunite in steamy scenes

EastEnders fans were overjoyed at the end of Monday night's episode as Ravi Gulati and Priya Nandra-Hart unexpectedly rekindled their relationship in steamy scenes It was an eventful time in Albert Square on Monday, as EastEnders fans were left overjoyed when former couple Ravi Gulati and Priya Nandra-Hart unexpectedly rekindled their romance. ‌ After moving out from Suki Panesar's house after Suki was exposed for asking pregnant teen Avani to keep her baby for her, Avani and her mum Priya moved in with her ex Ravi, Avani's father. Now, it looks like the two could be getting back on track - but one huge thing stands in the way. ‌ The unexpected scenes came after an argument between the two became passionate after Ravi scolded Priya for not taking Avani shopping like he'd promised, after her recent termination. It comes after an EastEnders legend was rushed to hospital after a deadly attack by a familiar face. ‌ Ravi, who still has the police watching over him following his dodgy dealings, opened up about how he felt bad for continuously letting his daughter down. Reassuring her ex, Priya said: "You've been brilliant with her. Getting her away from Suki for a start. And I mean you were probably having a go at Jack to look out for her. I reckon you've been a pretty good dad to her today, even if you didn't take her out." Ravi later opened up about losing the restaurant due to tax problems, but told Priya that she and the kids were all that mattered to him. "Isn't that what you want? Me, you, the kids, a proper family," Ravi said as the pair leaned in to kiss each other. It didn't stop there as the next scene cut to the couple in the bedroom, with Priya telling Ravi: "I thought you'd have learnt a few new things after all these years. Of course, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter to react to the raunchy scenes. ‌ One fan wrote: "Priya & Ravi have the potential to be the greatest couple the square has ever seen." Another fan said: "I ship Ravi and Priya so bad," as a third wrote: "I will take Ravi and Priya in any way I can get them." A further fan called them " endgame". However, the conversation quickly turned serious, as Priya told Ravi that she wanted to get back together, which can't happen whilst he's still into "all the shady stuff". Despite Ravi promising Priya he's find a way to be legit again, it doesn't look like it'd be happening anytime soon. At the end of the episode, he was heard telling someone on the phone to "shift as much gear as you can" on Bank Holiday weekend. Will Ravi ever change his ways and will the family be back together for good?
