Four Maoists, including three women, were killed in an encounter with security forces in the dense forests of Balaghat Saturday. The joint operation was carried out by Hawkforce, the district police, and the CRPF.
The encounter took place in the forested areas of Pachmadar and Katejhiriya. The forces continue to comb the area as part of an ongoing operation involving a large number of personnel. The operation was launched following inputs, about their movement, received last evening.
Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav said that a substantial cache of arms, including a grenade launcher, a self-loading rifle (SLR), two .315 bore rifles, and other equipments were seized.
'Balaghat is the only Naxal-affected district in the state, and our police force has shown exceptional courage in dealing with this menace,' Yadav said. He said among the four Maoists killed, three were women.
The CM said the Maoists were planning a violent attack, which was averted. 'Our forces acted decisively and eliminated all armed Naxalites before they could harm anyone… I congratulate the entire police force.'

BJP has no answer for intelligence failure: Akhilesh Yadav slams Centre over Sindoor campaign

Kannauj (Uttar Pradesh) [India] June 15 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a sharp attack on the BJP on Saturday, accusing the ruling party of covering up intelligence failures through its recent 'Sindoor' campaign. Yadav alleged that the campaign was a diversion tactic and questioned the government's silence on serious national security lapses. Speaking to the mediapersons in Kannauj, Yadav said, '...Recently, the BJP people organised a big program on Sindoor. By seeing the name of the program, common people understand that they are going to apologise to the people for the lapse. 'Sindoor-- jo nakami hui unki, jo intelligence failure hua', they are going door to door to remove that. They have no answer for the lapse.' Yadav alleged that the BJP was trying to distract public attention from critical national security concerns, especially intelligence failures that may have occurred during recent security challenges. He further emphasised the need for a stronger national defence and better equipment for the armed forces.'Our country should be strong, our army should have better resources so that they can fight the enemy, especially the neighbouring country...' he said, hinting at growing threats along India's borders. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. Speaking with the media, the SP chief said the incident was very sad and prayed that no such incidents would happen again. 'The incident that happened in Ahmedabad is very sad. It is very sad to see this, and one wonders how this happened. In today's time when technology has become so advanced... the incident is being investigated. When the investigation report comes, the truth will come out, but we pray that such an incident does not happen again,' Akhilesh Yadav said. The AI-171 Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 aircraft, bound for London's Gatwick, crashed shortly after taking off from the Ahmedabad International Airport on Thursday. The airline said 241 people on board the aircraft died in the crash, while only one passenger survived. (ANI)

CRPF ASI's death revives memories of Maoist days

ROURKELA: Death of a CRPF personnel during an anti-Naxal operation on Saturday morning has brought back memories of the troubled phase of Sundargarh's tryst with Maoist violence Renewed Maoist activities have come back to haunt Rourkela police with the loot of the explosive-laden truck on May 27. Before the incident, Sundargarh side of the border was relatively quiet with no significant Maoist movement. Now, it appears that taking advantage of the security gaps following withdrawal of CRPF from Sundargarh, Maoist have reactivated their old bases. Reliable sources said the Sanbalijodi, Mahupada, B Jharbera, Langalkata, Silkuta, Banko, Ralhatu, K Balang and Topadihi under K Balang police once served as stronghold for the Jharkhand regional committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoist). An encounter with police in 2005 near Renjda had left the then Bonai circle inspector MP Karua shot in his leg and the Maoists had firmly made their foothold in the forested regions of K Balang and adjoining Koida police limits. With no challenge offered, the Maoists had spread their influence in the entire Bonai sub-division using the forest covers of K Balang, Koida, parts of Lahunipada and Bonai, Chandiposh, Tikayatpali and Gurundia police stations as safe corridors.

Tej Pratap Yadav Seen In Video Inside Kashi Vishwanath Temple's 'Red Zone', Probe Ordered

Last Updated: The high-security zone includes the sanctum premises within the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, where mobile phones and unauthorised access are strictly prohibited. Tej Pratap Yadav, RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav's son, has courted a controversy after a video surfaced on social media showing the estranged party leader inside Varanasi's Kashi Vishwanath Temple's restricted 'Red Zone'. The temple administration has ordered an investigation after the video went viral triggering security concerns, reported news agency PTI. The high-security zone includes the sanctum premises within the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, where mobile phones and unauthorised access are strictly prohibited. What's In The Video? The video, which began circulating on social media platforms on Thursday, appears to show the former Bihar minister inside the restricted 'Red Zone' area, officials said. 'May Baba Vishwanath bless you, May the ghat of mother Ganga be pure and holy, I forget the whole world and I remember my Bhola in Banaras, I must say Har Har Mahadev…." he said in a post on X along with the video. बाबा विश्वनाथ का आशीर्वाद हो,माँ गंगा का निर्मल पवित्र घाट हो,पूरी दुनिया को मैं भूल जाऊं औरबनारस में मेरा भोला मुझे याद हो हर हर महादेव बोलना ही होगा। … #Varanasi — Tej Pratap Yadav (@TejYadav14) June 13, 2025 Temple Orders Probe Kashi Vishwanath Temple CEO Vishwa Bhushan Mishra that the temple administration recently became aware of the video through social media platforms and various newspapers. According to the temple administration, information has been shared with the CRPF and the local police, which are responsible for the temple's security. 'Information has been sent to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local police administration to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and take action against the responsible personnel of the concerned agency," said Mishra. 'Both agencies have been requested to ensure strict adherence to the prescribed rules and guidelines within the temple premises. Their investigation will also verify the authenticity of the content circulated on social media and identify any personnel found to be at fault. If any violation of rules is found at any level, appropriate legal action against the concerned individuals," he added. The controversy comes amid ongoing personal and political turbulence for Tej Pratap Yadav. The RJD patriarch and his father expelled him from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, declaring that he would have 'nothing to do with the family," on May 25. The move came a day after Tej Pratap Yadav's Facebook post announced that he was 'in a relationship for 12 years" with a woman, despite being married and his divorce petition still pending before a family court. He, however, deleted the post a few hours later, claiming on X that his Facebook page was 'hacked." First Published: June 15, 2025, 08:50 IST
