Jonathan Jackson to Exit 'General Hospital' Again, Less Than a Year After Returning as Lucky

Jonathan Jackson is leaving General Hospital again, less than a year after his most recent return to the soap opera Jackson plays Lucky Spencer on the long-running series, a role that has won him five Daytime Emmys Jackson's last episode as Lucky will air next weekJonathan Jackson is leaving Port Charles behind — again. Jackson, 43, will be exiting General Hospital less than a year after he returned to his Daytime Emmy-winning role as Lucky Spencer, PEOPLE has confirmed. His last episode will air next week. "We were so glad Jonathan was able to reprise the role of Lucky, even if it was for a limited time," General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini said in a statement. "We wish him nothing but the best and the door is always open for Jonathan to return." Jackson first played Lucky, the son of soap opera royalty Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis), between 1993 and 1999. He returned between 2009 through 2011 and once again for a short run in 2015 during Geary's exit storyline. Most recently, he returned full-time as Lucky in August 2024, even reuniting with Francis in the process. Recent General Hospital episodes have hinted at Jackson's departure. After rekindling a romance between him and his ex-wife, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst), Lucky popped the question in the June 4 epsidoe while the two were enjoying a romantic picnic in the park. The story continued in the June 5 episode, with Elizabeth turning Lucky down gently. Despite him suggesting she and their son, Aiden, explore the world together, Elizabeth said she's content in Port Charles and didn't want to uproot Aiden's life. Amid his heartbreak, Lucky said he'd be leaving town, admitting "it's not my home anymore." "I know it's sudden, but being here, knowing that we can't be together… it just hurts too much," he explained. Jackson's latest departure from General Hospital comes after he took a brief hiatus from the soap opera in February. Actor Guy Wilson took over as the character for a few episodes. Wilson isnt' the only actor to play Lucky when Jackson wasn't in the role, as Jacob Young and Greg Vaughan have also stepped in to play the role during Jackson's absence. Jackson, who is also known for playing Avery Barkley on Nashville, has won five Daytime Emmys for playing Lucky over the years. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC (check local listings). First Came Forbes' ‘30 Under 30.' Then Came Love.

Morgan Rose DeBaun never had a lot of time for pickup artists. Then she went dancing in Nashville and changed her tune. It wasn't with a cheesy line that Joshua Lamar Shaw picked her up on Aug. 20, 2021, at the speakeasy nightclub Dirty Little Secret. It was with his hands. 'He just picked me up and moved me,' Ms. DeBaun said. That no man had been brazen enough to do this before had less to do with her immovability — she is a compact 4-foot-11 — than her reputation. Ms. DeBaun, 35, is a founder and the chief executive of the digital media company Blavity and an adviser to brands including American Airlines and PepsiCo. In 2016, two years after she started Blavity, she was on the Forbes '30 Under 30' list alongside Aaron Samuels, her fellow founder. She is now a serial entrepreneur at the head of companies including AfroTech, a platform for Black technology executives, and an author. This spring, 'Rewrite Your Rules,' her mantra, became a book about the path to personal fulfillment. A rejection of hustle culture for something more authentic is at its foundation. So was the path that led her to go dancing that night in Nashville. Binge more Vows columns here and read all our wedding, relationship and divorce coverage here. Ms. DeBaun grew up in St. Louis with an older brother. Their parents, Sandra and Michael DeBaun, raised them with what she called solid Midwestern values. 'Everything at home was consistent and stable,' she said. 'My mom and dad were high school sweethearts, my grandma picked me up from school every day.' In Los Angeles, where she moved in 2015 to grow Blavity after graduating with a bachelor's degree in political science and entrepreneurship from Washington University in St. Louis, she wasn't meeting men who shared those values.
