Among 'Oscar's' posts were rants criticising Frank for being a coach 'who is inexperienced and stubbornly sticks to a system that doesn't work' and his 'inability to integrate new players that he himself has 100 per cent chosen'. 'Oscar' said Frank and Rud had made 'crazy decisions together due to ignorance and lack of experience', creating 'a headache that needs to be cured as soon as possible'. Nine months later, in December 2016, he joined Brentford as assistant boss to Dean Smith before taking the head coach role in October 2018. Without the strong backing of Bees owner Matthew Benham and co-director of football Rasmus Ankersen — a fellow Dane — he might not have survived. Gambling guru Benham believed Frank was a good bet and has been proved right. For all Frank's incredible success in leading the club from the Championship to the top half of the Premier League, Levy and Spurs fans are entitled to ask how he would cope with the very different challenge at Tottenham? The 51-year-old has never taken charge of a Champions League match nor won a major trophy, two things which were on former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou's CV even before he led Spurs to Europa League glory in what turned out to be his final game. Eddie Howe was similarly inexperienced when he joined Newcastle in November 2021. Yes, Howe had taken Bournemouth through the divisions all the way to ninth place in the top flight but he had also been relegated in 2020 and never managed in Europe. Yet Howe proved his doubters wrong — in 2023 he led the Magpies back into the Champions League, before lifting their first major domestic trophy for 70 years with March's Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool. Much has been made of Brentford's use of data from Benham's gambling business to give them the edge in recruitment. Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa are the most high-profile examples of the ability of Frank and his coaches. Frank has also proved tactically adaptable in a way Big Ange stubbornly refused to be until that backs-to-the-wall performance in the second half of the Europa League final against Manchester United. Brentford were a free-scoring, attractive side in the Championship. But after winning the play-off final in 2021, Frank knew he had to compromise a bit. He made his side defensively sound and difficult to beat, using marginal gains like set-piece excellence to help preserve their top-flight status. But last season the Bees were among the Prem's great entertainers. They were also one of the very few clubs in Europe to have three players with more than ten league goals - Mbeumo, Wissa and Kevin Schade. If Frank gets the Spurs job, his personality will be quite a change from Postecoglou's gruff Aussie charms. The genial Dane is the most relatable and likeable Prem boss. His image of a man who likes to visit his local pub on the Thames is not just for show. Brentford know what an asset they have, which is why Frank has a £10million release clause. Every managerial appointment is a gamble but for Levy that could be money well spent. Bech Andersen remains at Brondby and is still posting on social media — albeit under his own name now. At least Frank won't have to cope with Levy doing that if he joins Spurs.

The left-back is set to become a free agent this month amid interest from Greek side PAOK PAOK have reportedly handed Greg Taylor a deadline of the end of June to decide his future. The Celtic left-back is weighing up his options ahead of his current Parkhead deal expiring soon. Boss Brendan Rodgers has made no secret of the fact he would like to see Taylor remain at the club and battle with Kieran Tierney for a starting spot next season. However, PAOK have been strongly linked with the 27-year-old as they prepare for their Europa League campaign - and are said to have offered two year contract with the option of a third that will trump his current Celtic salary. But after Razvan Lucescu returned to Thessaloniki this week to begin his plans for the new campaign, it is claimed that Taylor and Jonjoe Kenny - who has already reportedly received a contract offer - will be told that they have until the first pre-season training camp of the year to decide their future, which is set for the end of the month. Djurgarden wonderkid Keita Kosugi has been tipped as a potential successor should Taylor depart. The 19-year-old left-back has opened up on his targets for the future away from the Swedish side. But Djurgården's sporting director Bosse Andersson has told potential suitors the club are in no rush to cash-in on their prize asset. He told Expressen: 'It depends a bit on what happens. Money is not a problem. "We have built incredible security and have a flow with players we've previously sold. But that's not what determines whether we win matches — it's about making long-term and wise decisions. 'Three players have stood out in the European Games (Conference League). Keita Kosugi has been prominent and was in the team of the tournament. "But it's impossible to know what will happen. We are not negotiating at the moment, and as long as they are Djurgards players, that is our plan — though we do have a backup.' Alejandro Garnacho faces little prospect of a future with Manchester United following his explosive fallout with Ruben Amorim and a switch to Saudi Arabia could potentially be on the cards Manchester United misfit Alejandro Garnacho could be offered an escape route from Old Trafford by Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. The Argentine is being discussed as an alternative target to Liverpool winger Luis Diaz after the Premier League champions made it clear that the Colombian is still part of Arne Slot 's plans when they were sounded out by Barcelona about their intentions for the 28-year-old. Al-Nassr have told former Kop favourite Sadio Mane that he can leave the club this summer - and want a top-class replacement. With Diaz now appearing set to stay at Anfield, the Saudis are now exploring the possibility of offering Garnacho the chance to link up again with his boyhood hero Cristiano Ronaldo. The Reds have also had interest from Saudi about Jadon Sancho after Chelsea sent the former England winger back to Manchester following his season-long loan at Stamford Bridge. And with United boss Ruben Amorim looking to clear the decks for a summer rebuild, Inter Milan have made contact with United about the possibility of taking misfiring £72million striker Rasmus Hojlund back to Italy. The beaten Champions League finalists want to take the 20-year-old former Atlalanta forward on-loan next season but are willing to agree to a £38million obligation-to-buy next year. That would save on Hojlund's £90,000-a-week wages. After telling Amorim that his budget for new players will be beefed up by cash generated from sales, there is also another potential money-maker in the pipeline. Former boss Erik ten Hag remains a big admirer of Antony and is weighing up whether to take the £80million Brazilian winger with him to Bayer Leverkusen after his successful loan spell with Real Betis. Betis don't have the £35million it will cost to keep Antony permanently, while Leverkusen will bank in excess of £110million for Florian Wirtz once they have settled on a fee with Liverpool. But it's Garnacho who is likely to give United their biggest pay-day. The Old Trafford club rejected a £40million bid from Napoli in January. But Amorim told the Madrid-born Argentina international to find a new club following a row in the aftermath of the Europa League Final defeat by Tottenham last month. United have already started splashing the cash with the £62.5million capture of Matheus Cunha from Wolves and will have to get close to that fee if they are to prise Bryan Mbeumo away from Brentford. The Reds missed out on a £100million pay-day when captain Bruno Fernandes turned down a £700,000-a-week contract with Al Hilal last week.
