This collaboration marks a significant step towards realizing the ABP's vision of establishing the Africa Continental Baseball League, comprising eight cities across seven nations, while simultaneously leveraging GAE's innovative technology to positively impact communities.

Its initiatives include conducting impactful clinics in Tanzania and Nigeria, providing crucial support for the construction of an outfield fence in Burkina Faso, contributing to the development of a two-field complex by IfWeBuildIt.org in Nairobi, Kenya, and funding the installation of a backstop for Zambia's inaugural baseball field.

Previewing Ben Shelton's 2025 US Open draw
The final Grand Slam of the 2025 ATP season begins main draw play on Sunday, and former Florida Gator Ben Shelton is one of the homegrown stars at the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. Shelton has put together a career year and is learning to thrive on the biggest of stages. The World No. 6 has climbed deep into the top 10, claimed his maiden Masters 1000 title in Toronto and set personal bests at each of the three Grand Slam events. The hard court is Shelton's preferred surface. It's what he grew up on, and it doesn't take away from his power or movement like clay and grass do. Not to mention, the Atlanta, Georgia, native is a natural showman. He plays better with the crowd behind him and rarely shrinks with the spotlight on him. However, Shelton isn't the favorite to come out of his quadrant of the bracket. Ben Shelton must learn to defeat Carlos Alcaraz At the very bottom of the draw is World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, who holds a 3-0 head-to-head record against Shelton. They would match up in the quarterfinal, barring any upsets along the way. The two will be linked for decades to come. Both are 22 years old and are among the elite in the sport. Alcaraz is already being compared to the greats, such as fellow countryman Rafael Nadal and his generational counterpart Roger Federer, while Shelton represents the newest hope for American tennis to reclaim the World No. 1 ranking. Shelton hasn't come close to beating Alcaraz yet. He took a set off him at Roland Garros this year, but Alcaraz dominated most of the competition. The biggest difference between the two might be confidence, or perhaps comfortability is the more optimal term. Shelton went to college in Gainesville and is only in his third full season of pro play. Meanwhile, Alcaraz has been on the big stage since 2021. He won the US Open in 2022 and has claimed four more Grand Slam titles since. He knows what to expect and how to maintain his body through the rigors of a multi-week tournament that requires three sets to win each match instead of two. Shelton has shown some of the maturation necessary to overcome players such as Alcaraz over the summer, but he is still winless against the Big 3 in the sport — Alcaraz, No. 1 Jannik Sinnner and No. 3 Alexander Zverev. Making this match competitive is a win for Shelton, even if he doesn't win. What a win vs. Carlos Alcaraz would mean for Ben Shelton If he does win, Shelton has a strong chance of taking over the No. 5 spot in the rankings from Jack Draper, who has to return to the semifinals to hold the same point total from last year. Shetlon was bounced in the third round in 2024, so a quarterfinals appearance gets him a 180-point bump. Draper only leads Shelton by 160 points. From there, Shelton is chasing a 1,100-point difference between fourth and fifth in the world rankings. Taylor Fritz has 5,575 points, but 1,200 of those are on the line as last year's US Open runner-up. Zverev could lose early and make things interesting in the No. 3 spot, but Alcaraz and Sinner are virtually untouchable after dominating the season. Novak Djokovic is behind Shelton, but only by 150 points. He's basically in the same position, and Shelton will have to outperform him to keep from slipping a spot. Other potential matchups for Ben Shelton at US Open Shelton gets a qualifier or lucky loser in the first round, and likely No. 113 Pablo Carreno Busta in the second round. No. 31 Tallon Griekspoor, No. 41 Corentin Moutet and No. 73 Adrian Mannarino are the main candidates for a Round 3 matchup. Shelton is 1-0 against Moutet and 1-2 against Mannarino in head-to-head matches. No. 12 Casper Ruud and No. 21 Jiri Lehecka are the top seeds who could reach the Round of 16, and then it's Alcaraz. No. 13 Daniil Medvedev and No. 18 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina are the main threats to Alcaraz leading up to a potential clash with Shelton. If Shelton makes it to the semifinals, Novak Djokovic may be waiting. The NFL wants players to have fun within the rules. That's why the league will be emphasizing sportsmanship and cracking down on violent and sexually suggestive gestures this season. 'Unsportsmanlike gestures like simulating or either shooting a gun or brandishing a gun, or inappropriate gestures like a throat slash, or unfortunate sexual gestures, those were up 133% so that is a point of emphasis,' NFL officiating rules analyst Walt Anderson said Thursday. 'The officials have made it a point of emphasis to the clubs. It's just one of those areas that the league wants to work actively on. There are plenty of ways for players to be able to celebrate, and they come up with some very unique and often entertaining ways so we want them to focus on those and not the inappropriate areas.' In April, the NFL expanded prohibited acts to include banning the 'nose wipe' gesture that league executive Troy Vincent said is affiliated with gangs. The unsportsmanlike conduct rule now states: 'any violent gesture, which shall include but not be limited to a throat slash, simulating firing or brandishing a gun, or using the 'nose wipe' gesture, or an act that is sexually suggestive or offensive. 'There's no place in the game to be standing over your opponent,' Vincent said in a video that's sent to teams. 'There's no place in the game to have violent gestures.
