Pakistani journalist Jasmeen Manzoor shares images of domestic abuse, calls out ex-husband: ‘Life destroyed'
In a series of emotional posts shared on X early Wednesday, Manzoor accused her ex-husband of physically assaulting her, revealing a deeply personal and painful chapter of her life.
One of the images showed visible bruising and swelling around her right eye. Alongside it, she wrote: 'This is me. Yes, this is my story — my life destroyed by a violent man. I leave my justice to my Allah.'
In another post, Manzoor spoke about the emotional toll of domestic abuse and the betrayal she experienced.
'This can happen to anyone. No one is safe, even in the safety of your house. The most dangerous people are the ones you trust blindly,' she wrote.
Without naming her ex-husband directly, she made it clear who she was referring to: 'This is me, gifted by my ex-husband.'
She also addressed the internal struggle of deciding whether to go public with her story.
'I kept thinking for so long whether I should share this with the public or not. But I want to show the courage to share this, so we can all unite against this kind of behaviour and for the government authorities to open their eyes.'
Manzoor's courageous posts quickly gained attention online, with thousands expressing outrage and support.
A user wrote, 'Kudos to you. Women should stand against violence no matter who, where. This needs courage.'
Another user commented, 'You did right by sharing, such monsters are not to be forgiven or ignored and best is to expose them.'
Third wrote, 'If a woman of your stature could be treated like this imagine what these animals would do with a common girl!'
In a follow-up, she hinted at having documented multiple instances of abuse: 'There will always be haters. Don't blame them — it's their failure in life that puts them in this spot. I have 50 more pictures.'

Hit by mortar shell, but still fighting—BSF heroes of Op Sindoor honoured with gallantry medals
Then again, in the early hours of 10 May, multiple Pakistani drones were sighted in the area. Troops under the command of Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imteyaj neutralised one such drone. But soon after, a mortar shell possibly dropped using the drones exploded, grievously injuring five BSF jawans. Yet, they continued retaliating. According to the citations, on the intervening night of 7-8 May, Pakistani troops resorted to heavy shelling, targeting BSF outposts using flat and high trajectory weapons, followed by a drone attack. The Kharkola border outpost, barely 200 metres from the international border, was among Indian military installations that came under intense fire. New Delhi: A head constable and three constables deployed at the highly sensitive Kharkola border outpost were among 16 Border Security Force (BSF) jawans honoured with gallantry medals by the President of India this Independence Day, for display of exemplary courage during Operation Sindoor. They are Head Constable Brij Mohan Singh, Constables Depeswar Barman, Bhupendra Bajpai, Rajan Kumar and Basavaraja Shivappa Sunkada. Another recipient, Assistant Commandant Abhishek Srivastav, posted at this border outpost as part of his probation training, rushed to help the injured BSF jawans and post commander, eventually evacuating them from the area. However, SI Imteyaj later succumbed to injuries. Also among the gallantry medal recipients were SI Vyas Dev and Constable Suddi Rabha, both deployed in Jammu. SI Dev and Constable Rabha sustained injuries after a mortar shell exploded near them. According to BSF, SI Dev even after suffering life-threatening injuries remained conscious, stabilised himself and kept motivating fellow jawans. His left leg had to be amputated. Constable Rabha, meanwhile, sustained severe blast trauma-deep lacerations in the perineal region, injuries to thighs, left leg, and right ankle. Other gallantry medal recipients include Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajappa B.T. and Constable Manohar Xalxo. Engaged in critical resupply of arms in Jammu, both were injured when a mortar shell exploded near them. ASI Rajappa succumbed to fatal splinter injuries. ASI Udai Vir Singh, also posted in Jammu, successfully destroyed a Pakistani surveillance camera on 10 May, preventing Pakistani troops from real-time monitoring of border outposts and troop movement. ASI Singh was grievously injured when a shrapnel hit his upper lip but he continued to engage the enemy, refusing immediate evacuation. Deputy Commandant Ravindra Rathore, Inspector Devi Lal, Head Constable Sahib Singh, Constable Kanwaraj Singh and Assistant Commandant Alok Negi are the other BSF jawans honoured with the gallantry medal on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day. 16 BSF personnel awarded gallantry medals for Operation Sindoor
Sixteen Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have been awarded gallantry medals for displaying 'conspicuous bravery' and 'unmatched valour' during Operation Sindoor against Pakistan. The medals for gallantry (GM) for these troops, some of whom destroyed enemy surveillance cameras while others neutralised drone attacks, were announced by the Union government on the eve of the 79th Independence Day. 'The medals are a testament to the Nation's faith & trust reposed in India's First Line of Defence: The Border Security Force,' the BSF said in a social media post. Under Operation Sindoor undertaken by the three defence forces along with the BSF on the border, India targeted terrorist and military facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir from May 7 to 10 in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed. Two BSF personnel were killed in action while seven were injured during the operation. Sub-Inspector Vyas Dev, who lost his left leg after a Pakistani mortar shell fell at his border post, has been awarded, along with Constable Suddi Rabha, for undertaking a 'risk-prone' mission to replenish ammunition to forward deployed troops during the operation. Dev's citation said he 'suffered life-threatening injuries, but he remained conscious, stabilised himself and bravely engaged in his given task, motivated his fellow soldiers and exhibited tremendous courage'. Rabha stood 'shoulder-to-shoulder' with his commander (Dev) and refused to yield despite suffering grievous injuries. Another unit commanded by under-probation Assistant Commandant Abhishek Srivastav was deployed at the highly sensitive border post at Kharkola in Jammu, only 200 metres from the IB. On May 10, Srivastav along with his troops — Head Constable Brij Mohan Singh and Constables Depeswar Barman, Bhupendra Bajpai, Rajan Kumar and Basavaraja Shivappa Sunkada — engaged a swarm of Pakistani drones and neutralised them, but one UAV dropped a mortar shell in their bunker. Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imteyaj and Constable Deepak Chingakham were killed in this action. They are expected to be decorated with military medals for bravery posthumously. Another unit under Deputy Commandant Ravindra Rathore, Inspector Devi Lal, Head Constable Sahib Singh and Constable Kanwaraj Singh displayed 'exceptional courage' and 'operational brilliance' under intense pressure and saved the life of a fellow jawan 'whose life was in peril'. Assistant Sub-Inspector Udai Vir Singh was deployed at the Jabowal border post in Jammu and he destroyed a Pakistani surveillance camera amid 'intense' enemy fire at his location. Despite suffering a life-threatening sharpnel wound to his upper lip, Singh refused evacuation and went on to destroy a Pakistani 'heavy machine gun nest (post)', his citation stated. 'His actions ensured uninterrupted domination from the Indian side and inspired fellow troops,' it said. ASI Rajappa BT and Constable Manohar Xalxo undertook a 'high risk' mission at border post Karotana Khurd in Jammu on May 10 when the said post reported 'critical shortage' of automatic grenade launcher ammunition. While replenishing the ammunition, a mortar shell fell on the magazine and the two suffered grievous injuries, but they ensured completion of their task. Assistant Commandant Alok Negi, along with two of his troops, executed 'relentless and accurate' mortar fire on enemy positions for 48 hours and their 'fearless' conduct ensured zero casualties and maintained operational dominance, according to the citation. The government also announced gallantry medals for other police and central armed police forces personnel, who undertook other operations. This includes 128 for Jammu and Kashmir Police, 20 for the CRPF and 14 for Chhattisgarh Police.
