CAIRO, June 4 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi travels on Wednesday to Abu Dhabi for talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Egyptian presidency's spokesman said in a statement.
The two leaders are expected to discuss a number of priority issues for both countries, including the current regional situation and efforts to restore security and stability in the region.
They will also explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in line with the aspirations of their peoples, the statement added.

The discussion also addressed the ongoing suffering of the people of Gaza due to the escalating war and humanitarian crisis. Both leaders emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid. In addition, they praised the Egyptian government's firm stance on preserving Saint Catherine's Monastery—one of the world's oldest Christian monasteries, dating back to the 6th century AD—underscoring its historical and spiritual significance. Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected on Thursday as the first American pope, and took the name Leo XIV. Prevost, 69, is the267th pontiff after being elected by the College of Cardinals to succeed Pope Francis, who died April 21 at the age of 88. According to Vatican news, Prevost was Born in Chicago in 1955 to parents of Spanish and Franco-Italian descent. He spent his childhood and adolescence with his family and studied first at the Minor Seminary of the Augustinian Fathers and then at Villanova University in Pennsylvania, where in 1977 he earned a Degree in Mathematics and also studied Philosophy.

2,215 inmates freed per Eid al-Adha presidential pardon

CAIRO – 6 June 2025: The Ministry of Interior said it had released 2,215 inmates from correctional and rehabilitation centers per a presidential pardon issued to mark Eid al Adha 2025. The move comes as part of a decision by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to pardon the remainder of prison sentences for certain inmates who met the conditions for presidential amnesty during the Eid. Families of the freed inmates expressed joy at their relatives' changed behavior and thanked the president for giving them a second chance to reintegrate into society. As part of the holiday celebrations, the Interior Ministry also held Eid prayers in rehabilitation centers, The ministry said the initiative reflects its commitment to providing comprehensive care to inmates and implementing measures to reintegrate rehabilitated inmates into society.
