Evansville Santa Run Chair wins 2024 Rotary Civic Award

EVANSVILLE, Ind (WEHT) – The Evansville Rotary Club announces the winner of its 2024 Civic Award.
This year's honor goes to Cathy Renner, the chair of Evansville's annual Santa Run.
Renner brought the event to the city back in 2014 after first taking part in a similar run in Illinois.
Since then, she says the event has grown every year, raising nearly $280,000 to support local causes.
Renner says receiving the award was both unexpected and humbling.
'When you think about Bill Wooden and Bob Cook and Lloyd Winnecke and Carol McClintock and Rita Eykamp, all those that I have followed and their contributions to the community, and then he taps me on the shoulder. I think, 'Oh, my goodness.''
The purpose of the award is to recognize people for outstanding civic cultural service to Evansville. It's given for services performed for the year or a lifetime of services. The first recipient was E. Mead Johnson, Sr. in 1927.
