Andre Petroski vs. Edmen Shahbazyan prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 69
Andre Petroski and Edmen Shahbazyan meet Saturday on the main card of UFC on ESPN 69 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.
Last event: 3-2
UFC main cards, 2025: 52-43-1
Andre Petroski vs. Edmen Shahbazyan UFC on ESPN 69 preview
Petroski (13-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) will look to extend his current winning streak to four to match his best UFC run. The 34-year-old enters this matchup following unanimous decision wins over Josh Fremd, Dylan Budka and Rodolfo Vieira. The only setbacks of Petroski's career have come by stoppage, which could bode well for his opponent. ... In his last outing, Shahbazyan (14-5 MMA, 7-5 UFC) recorded a first-round finish of Budka in February. Although Shahbazyan has traded wins and losses over his past five, each win was a stoppage before the third round.
Andre Petroski vs. Edmen Shahbazyan UFC on ESPN 69 expert pick, prediction
With every UFC Fight Night card seemingly having a 1.5 minimum on middleweight matchups, Edmen Shahbazyan and Andre Petroski will lead us into the top two attractions of the evening.
Petroski, who is a switch-stance fighter that primarily operates out of southpaw, will have the on-paper edge if this fight hits the floor given both his wrestling background and ability to extend the fight.
Shahbazyan has traditionally shown to struggle if fighters can survive the hellfire of his initial onslaught, so the first frame should be a nail-biter regardless of which direction it goes. And though Shahbazyan is officially 0-2 opposite southpaws in the octagon, he did finish a stance-switching Dalcha Lungiambula when he was in a southpaw stance (as well as hurt Derek Brunson and Gerald Meerschaert on the feet before falling apart on the floor down the stretch).
It's also worth noting that Shahbazyan switched training camps some time ago and is now working with Eric Nicksick and company at Xtreme Couture MMA, so I'd suggest leaving some room to be surprised as far as potential improvements go. Bias aside, Xtreme Couture is one of the best gyms for big bodies to work with right now and coaches like Nicksick can tailor excellent game plans for his fighters.
Petroski is also working with a top-tier gym in Marquez MMA, so the same pleasantries for potential improvements should be extended to the Philly native as well. That said, I've seen Petroski fold to the exact kind of fight that his Armenian foe will be bringing, so I gotta go with the bruiser from my backyard.
The pick is Shahbazyan by knockout in Round 1.
Andre Petroski vs. Edmen Shahbazyan UFC on ESPN 69 odds
The oddsmakers and the public are favoring the younger fighter, listing Shahbazyan -188 and Petroski +152 via FanDuel.

OKTAGON star Losene Keita lands Patricio Freire fight in Paris after signing with UFC
Losene Keita asked, received, and now he has a big test in front of him. The OKTAGON standout told MMA Junkie in July he thought it was time to join the UFC, and the promotion agrees. Keita (16-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will battle Bellator legend Patricio Freire (37-8 MMA, 1-1 UFC) in a three-round featherweight bout Sept. 6 at UFC Fight Night 258. The event takes place at Accor Arena. A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie following a report from Maitres Fumieres on Instagram. Keita, 27, held both the OKTAGON featherweight and lightweight titles during his 11-fight tenure with the promotion. He has 10 knockouts in 16 professional wins, and his lone loss was due to injury. "It's time," Keita said. "Let's make featherweight great again. I can do both weights actually. I even fought in welterweight before. I fought in lightweight, featherweight. Let's just make fun. Let me knock out people on the biggest platform." Freire, 38, picked up his first UFC win in July when he defeated Dan Ige by unanimous decision. The win came after an unsuccessful promotional debut vs. Yair Rodriguez. The victory was a long-time coming for the 45-fight pro, who spent the majority of his career fighting under the Bellator banner, rewriting the promotion's history book. With the addition, the UFC Fight Night 258 lineup includes:

UFC 319 live updates: Time, stream, predictions for Du Plessis vs Chimaev card tonight
Khamzat Chimaev doesn't like his chances of being part of a UFC event at the White House if it materializes. "Bro, look at my face," Chimaev, the Russian fighter with a thick, long beard, told MMA Junkie. But the odds of his becoming a UFC champion Saturday? Infinitely better. Chimaev will be the betting favorite when he fights middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis in Chicago. The bout scheduled for five rounds figures to be entertaining. Chimaev, 31, boasts wrestling skills that have led to comparisons to legendary Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov. He also has a spotless record – 14-0 overall and 8-0 UFC. Plessis, 31, has an impressive record in his own right – 23-2 overall and 9-0 UFC. Though his herky-jerky style has turned off purists, he'll be making his third title defense since winning the belt with a victory over Sean Strickland by split decision in 2024. UFC 319: Jared Cannonier vs. Michael Page odds, picks and predictions
In a 3-round middleweight bout on the main card, Jared Cannonier and Michael Page meet Saturday at UFC 319 at United Center in Chicago. The early prelims begin at 6:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+ / Disney+), with the prelims starting at 8 p.m. ET (ESPN / ESPN+ / Disney+), followed by the main card at 10 p.m. ET (Pay-Per-View). Their bout is expected to start around 10:45 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's UFC odds around the UFC 319: Cannonier vs. Page odds, and make our expert UFC picks and predictions. Records: Cannonier (18-8-0) | Page (23-3-0) Cannonier is looking to build upon a Round 4 KO/TKO victory over Gregory Rodrigues last time out in a fight night main event at the UFC Apex. This will be a rare fight for Cannonier, as it is just 3 rounds, after 6 consecutive main event fights from his title bout loss to Israel Adesanya in July 2022, until his win over Rodrigues in February. Cannonier has a lot of mileage on those legs lately, too, going to at least Round 4 in all 6 bouts, winning 3 times, with 4 fights going the distance. He has ended up going the distance in 6 of his past 9 bouts since Oct. 24, 2020, too. Speaking of going the distance, albeit in 3-round fights, Page enters with 3 straight fights at the UFC level going to a unanimous decision, including a win over Shara Magomedov last time out on Feb. 1. He is 2-1 since joining the company from Bellator. Neither of these fighters are spring chickens, with Cannonier 41 years old, and Page 38 years old. The Briton has a 1.5-inch reach advantage over Cannonier, while the American has a 4.60-to-2.53 significant strikes landed per minute advantage. Page is much more accurate on those strikes at 69.34%, while Cannonier checks in at 53.45% in his UFC career. The difference in takedown average is rather negligible. Lines last updated at 10 a.m. ET. UFC 319: Cannonier vs. Page picks and predictions Fight result (2-way line or moneyline) Facing Cannonier is a big step up in competition, but Page (-220) should be equal to the task. However, risking more than 2 times your potential return is a little on the pricey side as a standalone wager. If you were to toss Page into a multi-leg parlay with at least 4 or 5 ends, that would be perfectly acceptable, though. Anyway, if you want to bet the favorite straight up, consider the method of victory, too. Both of these fighters have had a penchant for going the distance and needing the judges to decide a winner, so PAGE ON POINTS (+100) at even-money is the best course of action for a singular wager. Play our free daily Pick'em Challenge and win! Play now! Over/Under Yes (-225): Fight to go the distance? is way too expensive, costing you 2 1/4 times your potential return. There is no way to justify risking so much for so little. If you're looking for a little more action than just playing the method of victory mentioned above, consider CANNONIER TOTAL TAKEDOWNS - OVER 0.5 (+130). In fact, taking PAGE TOTAL TAKEDOWNS - OVER 0.5 (+500) is also a good play. Both of these fighters know how to wow the judges and score points, and they'll each be looking to get to the canvas for top time. Visit MMA Junkie for more fight news and analysis.
