Aug 13 South Africa (Kenilworth) form analysis
(10) BLACK EAGLE moved up like a winner in his last start. He travelled really well in his race, and got caught only very late by Blind Date. This looks to be the perfect race for him to exit the maiden ranks and he will be hard to beat.
(3) SUNSHINE SUPERMAN was terribly green on debut. He was caught a long way back but took off late to run a nice fifth behind Blind Date. He will improve, so watch him closely.
(9) IN MOTION ran a lovely race on debut behind Late December. He should be among the places.
(4) PRINCE OF EGYPT ran a much better race last time. Even though he wants further, he could sneak into the quartet.
Race 2 (1,200m)
(10) POMP IT UP was just off the speed early, and really caught the eye late behind African Memoir on debut. He should make tons of improvement, and this looks to be a nice race for him to be competitive.
(6) IKO IKO ran a great race behind Note To Self last time. He is very consistent and should be right there in the finish again.
(9) PRINS JASPAR has been rested. He ran a fair race on debut behind Happy Verse. If he does not need the run badly, he should be among the places.
(5) DAY IN DAY OUT ran a shocking race in testing conditions last time. He is much better than that. The blinkers have been fitted, and he may bounce back to his best.
Race 3 (1,200m)
(12) GIMME WHAT I WANT caught the eye late behind her stablemate Wish List on debut, when she was very green but still managed to run on strongly to finish just over six lengths behind the winner. Include her in all bets, she will run a cracker.
(10) PITERAQ ran a great race behind Splash Of Colour last time, when she stayed on nicely. She must be respected.
(8) AMAYAH was slightly slow into stride out of the gates on debut. This does not look to be a strong race on paper and, if she has improved, she could sneak into the places at a big price.
(9) ONE DANCE ran a fair race on debut behind Heritage Ridge. Watch her closely, she should run a much better race.
Race 4 (1,200m)
(6) QUEEN REGENT has been in terrific form of late. She ran a super race last time behind a very smart filly. She is improving and this looks to be a great opportunity for her to exit the maiden ranks.
(12) SOUTH OF FRANCE has been rested for 89 days. She was heavily backed in the market last time when finishing third behind Lowveld Lily. If she does not need the run badly, she will be right there in the finish.
(8) LA LANDONNE ran a nice fourth on debut behind her stablemate Wish List. She was just off the speed early, and then stayed on nicely late. She is looking for further, but should run a fair race. Include her in all bets.
(11) HOMING PIGEON was far from disgraced on debut behind Stormwatch. She has a lovely action and will enjoy the extra 200m. She could sneak into the quartet at a decent price.
Race 5 (1,600m)
(1) NOTE TO SELF won very impressively on debut up the straight at Kenilworth last time. He will absolutely love the step-up in trip and, from a good draw, he will be hard to beat.
(8) THE NIGHT FERRY was given a great ride by jockey Grant van Niekerk to win a good race last time. Champion apprentice Brevan Plaatjies has been booked to ride the gelding. He will be right there in the finish.
(10) MELA STRENGTH never runs a bad race. He is very honest, but the bad draw will make life tough for him. If he gets some luck in the running, he will run a good race again.
(5) SUMMER NIGHT CITY could be the value in this tricky contest. She has dropped even further in the ratings, and gets 4kg off her back from the apprentice claim. She has run two fair races in succession and has a good each-way chance on her best form.
Race 6 (1,000m)
(1) AFRICAN MEMOIR quickened up smartly to win impressively last time. He is very quick and has lots of ability, even though this is a stronger race on paper. He will take lots of beating again.
(6) ESCARPMENT burst through the field to win well last time. He loves the softer underfoot conditions, and will be storming home late. Include him into all bets.
(7) IN A TIMELY MANNER has been rested for 77 days. He finished like a train to win well on debut, and the form of that race has worked out well. Though he wants further, he certainly has a good winning chance again.
(4) RATTLESNAKE has been rested for 98 days. Ignore his last run as he is much better than that poor performance. If he bounces back to his best, he will have a good each-way chance.
Race 7 (1,100m)
(4) THE US OF A has won two very good races in succession. He was given four points for his recent victory, where he sat off the speed early, and powered past the field to win in great fashion. He has lots of ability, so he will be right there in the finish again.
(2) ARCTIC WIZARD beat a strong field last time. He tries hard and, even though he has gone up in the ratings, he will run a huge race.
(7) ELUSIVE WINTER is very fast. If he jumps out of the gates cleanly, he will make them all work for victory. On his current form, he definitely has a good place chance.
(8) NORDIC QUEST ran a terrific race behind Dean Street last time. If she has improved, she will be competitive at a good price.
Race 8 (1,400m)
(7) WISH LIST won her maiden very well last time. She will love the step-up to 1,400m. If she finds herself in a good position turning for home, she will be very hard to beat.
(6) VIVA LA VIDA quickened up smartly to win by over two lengths last time. She will enjoy the step-up in trip. Include her in all bets.
(2) DREAM SEARCHER has been rested for 96 days. She won a good race at Kenilworth last time. She loves this trip of 1,400m and, even though she has gone up in the ratings, she should be in the placings from a good draw.
(1) RAHHABBA has been rested for 70 days. She ran superb last time from a poor draw. She gets the perfect draw of 1 and 4kg off her back from the apprentice claim. If she does not need the run badly, she could trouble them in the finish.

School mom reveals rare peek into Kate Middleton's parenting and private life: "I do see her a lot..."
It's a side of the Princess of Wales we rarely get to see. Kate Middleton might be the future queen of England, but when it comes to parenting, she's just like any other mom on the sidelines. At the premiere of The Real Housewives of London, cast member Panthea Parker shared a rare glimpse into the Princess of Wales' life as a school mom, revealing that Kate is a constant presence at her children's sports games. 'I see her quite a few times because my son's school plays against her son's school,' Parker told Hello!. 'So they play rugby and football against each other so we're always at her school or my school. I do see her a lot but not to talk to, just from afar. So classy, so lovely, and she never misses any of her children's matches, so really amazing.' A hands-on royal mom Kate, 43, and Prince William are raising Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, with a focus on family life despite their packed royal schedules. Kate has previously spoken about the challenges of balancing motherhood with duty. On the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast in 2020, she admitted to feeling 'mum guilt' when she couldn't do the school run. 'Even this morning, coming to the nursery visit here – George and Charlotte were like, 'Mummy how could you possibly not be dropping us off at school this morning?'' she said with a laugh. A family that loves sports The Wales family is known to be 'sport-mad,' as royal biographer Robert Jobson has put it. From rugby and football to their annual Wimbledon outings, the family embraces both playing and spectating. Jobson noted that George and Charlotte's appearances at big sporting events show not only their parents' enthusiasm but also a way to connect with the public. With summer holidays underway, the royal kids might be off the field for now — but according to Parker, fans can count on spotting their mom cheering from the sidelines once the school season kicks back in. DOJ goes 0-3 in requests to unseal Jeffrey Epstein grand jury materials
NEW YORK — A federal judge on Wednesday rejected the Justice Department's effort to unseal grand jury transcripts and exhibits in the Jeffrey Epstein case, writing that the government itself is the "logical party" to make the Epstein files public and criticizing its motion as a 'diversion' tactic. "The information contained in the Epstein grand jury transcripts pales in comparison to the Epstein investigation information and materials in the hands of the Department of Justice,' U.S. District Judge Richard Berman, a Bill Clinton appointee, wrote in a 14-page opinion. Berman's decision is the third by a federal judge to deny nearly identical motions by the Justice Department to make public certain grand jury material in the cases of Epstein, the disgraced financier who died by suicide in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, and his onetime girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell. Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence for aiding and participating in his sex trafficking ring. She is appealing her conviction. Berman's opinion, however, comes as the Justice Department is being forced to disclose the Epstein files through another channel. On Friday, the department is expected to begin turning over Epstein-related records to congressional lawmakers in response to a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee. And as Berman noted, the Justice Department's 100,000 pages of Epstein materials, which it could release at any time and which are the target of the congressional subpoena, 'dwarf' the roughly 70 pages of grand jury material it asked the federal judges to unseal. 'The Government is the logical party to make comprehensive disclosure to the public of the Epstein files,' the judge wrote. 'The grand jury testimony is merely a hearsay snippet of Jeffrey Epstein's alleged conduct.' Solve the daily Crossword
