Sullivan provides aid to families following Linton tornado
SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. — Today, friends over in Sullivan County were helping give back to help those recently impacted by the tornado in Greene County.
The Sullivan County Republican Party held a fundraiser earlier this morning to raise proceeds to help support those in need. Over at Acorn Ridge, many people came out to help support the victims impacted the most. Chairman of the GOP say they plan to donate all of the proceeds from the event, directly to tornado victims.
'You know when we had the tornado here, Linton sent the boys over, from the football team and all the Linton residents came over and helped and we're glad to be able to give back,' said Mason.

EF-1 tornado damages 53 buildings in De Soto area, no injuries reported
DE SOTO, Mo. – The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down just south of the De Soto area on Saturday night, cutting a near five-mile path through rural Jefferson County. The tornado struck just before 9 p.m., with wind speeds reaching over 100 miles per hour and a maximum width of 300 yards. The storm left behind significant damage, particularly along Big River Heights Road. 'We were all very lucky, but we lost a lot of trees. A total of 53 buildings were damaged, with 12 sustaining heavy damage. Despite the destruction, no injuries have been reported. 'All the neighbors showed up in their side-by-sides and everybody was helping everybody making sure everyone was okay. Nobody got hurt, thank God,' said another resident. In the aftermath, the Jefferson County community is coming together, supporting one another through cleanup and recovery efforts. NWS confirms two tornadoes from Saturdays storm
HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — The National Weather Service has confirmed two tornadoes hit the Tri-State during a storm on Saturday. A release from the National Weather Service says the tornadoes touched down in Owensboro Kentucky and in Hatfield Indiana. The Owensboro tornado was rated an EF-0 with peak winds of 85 miles per hour. Officials say the tornado developed along Highway 431 and damaged a billboard. Several stores were also damaged. The tornado traveled 2.14 miles. The Tornado in Hatfield was rated an EF-0 with peak winds of 65 miles per hour. Officials say the tornado made brief contact with the ground and traveled 0.59 miles.
