Gresham man pleads guilty to sex crimes involving Connecticut teen
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Gresham man pled guilty on Friday to sex crimes involving a Connecticut minor, authorities said.
According to the Department of Justice, in January 2023, Canyon Beasley, 21, began talking to a 13-year-old in Connecticut over Snapchat.
In July of that year, officials said Beasley began requesting sexual pictures and videos from the minor, even after he learned that they were underage.

For over a year, the Department of Justice said that the pair exchanged explicit images over online platforms.
In June 2024, Beasley traveled from Oregon to Connecticut to have sex with the minor and he recorded the activity on his phone.
A few months later, Beasley was arrested.
He pled guilty to receipt of child pornography and was released on a $250,000 bond pending sentencing, which hasn't been scheduled yet.
The incident is also still under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation alongside the Cheshire Police Department and the Connecticut State Police.

PF&R investigating ‘suspicious' Powellhurst-Gilbert apartment fire
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Portland Fire & Rescue is investigating after a 'suspicious' fire at an apartment building in the Powellhurst-Gilber Neighborhood early Sunday morning. Just before 6 a.m., PF&R responded to a reported residential fire near the intersection of Southeast 118th and Holgate, where the Bureau of Emergency Communication indicated that fire and smoke was seen from a recently vacated apartment. On the scene, crews saw the blaze on the first and second level of an apartment with smoke pushing through the garage and on the eave line. Tipton County detective honored by FBI for work on child exploitation case
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Tipton County detective was honored by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for her work on a child sexual exploitation case in January. On June 4, FBI Supervisory Special Agent Taneka Harris Blacknell and other members of her team presented Detective Tonia Bruno a letter and certificate of appreciation. In a social media post describing the event, Tipton County Sheriff Shannon Beasley said that in 2023, Detective Bruno and other members of the Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant on a convicted and registered sex offender, Austin Lineback. ORIGINAL STORY: TN man facing state, federal child sex crimes charges Items of evidentiary value, along with electronic devices, were seized and presented as evidence at the trial. Lineback was eventually found guilty on multiple charges, such as violation of the sex offender act and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, and is facing 10 to 20 years in federal prison. In a letter to Sheriff Beasley, Special Agent Blackwell wrote the following, 'Detective Bruno's testimony was professional, skilled and thorough. Detective Bruno's expertise and passionate pursuit of justice were pivotal to the success of the joint investigation and directly improved the safety of Tipton County.' Bruno was also issued the Certificate of Appreciation by Special Agent Blacknell, from the FBI and Director Kash Patel. Body pulled onto swimming dock at Cathedral Park
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A body that appeared to have been in the Willamette River for some time was recovered Saturday afternoon by a person at Cathedral Park, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office confirmed. The body was pulled onto the swimming dock around 1:45 p.m. A death investigation is underway along with trying to determine who the person was. No further information is available.
