A West Lothian mum is hoping to raise awareness after claiming a man asked her teen daughter if she wanted a 'draw of his vape'.
The alleged incident took place around 11.30am on Tuesday while the 13 year-old was travelling home from school on the X28 bus service from Deans.
Mum-of-three Stacey Waddell, 35, from Livingston says she was worried there was spice in the vape - a nickname for a lab-made drug - synthetic cannabinoid.
After the worrying interaction, Stacey made police aware and suitable advice was given.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Stacey said: "This all happened on Tuesday. She was sent home from school because she wasn't feeling well.
"A male approached her who looked around 18 or 19-years-old. He said 'this sounds a bit strange but I have been asking a lot of people - do you want a draw of my vape?'
"She said no and he watched her get off the bus. When she got home she told me everything and I had to explain to her that I had heard so many stories of people using vapes laced with spice. I mean this incident could have been innocent but I am glad she told me and didn't take anything."
Stacey is hoping to warn parents and spread awareness around the dangers of vaping and drug misuse due to the fear of what's inside them.
She added: "A lot of people get the X28 and X27 to school and I just want to warn people about what could be happening to children.
"You just don't know what could be in these vapes. I have a dealt with a lot in the past.

"I am always on high alert because I have a 16-year-old so I have to be aware of the dangers of drugs. It's a scary world out there, especially for bringing teenagers up.
"Children might think what they are doing is innocent but they can't see what it's doing to their insides or what it could do to their mental health as well.
"My daughter is only 13 so it's worrying we are having these conversations. I never had this when I was younger - children aren't getting to be kids anymore."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 2.20pm on Tuesday, 10 June, 2025, we received a report of a man having approached a girl on a bus in the area of Knightsridge West Road, Livingston.
'Enquiries were carried out and no criminality was established. Suitable advice was given.'

Police probe hit-and-run on Dundee street
Police have launched an investigation after a motorist deliberately tried to run over two men in a Dundee street. The driver of a black Vauxhall Corsa appeared to target the pair on Balmoral Place in the city's Douglas area. The incident took place near the community centre and library just after 3.15pm on Tuesday. Footage – seen by The Courier – shows three men on foot before the car enters the street via Balmoral Avenue. The vehicle then accelerates towards one shirtless man, who rolls over the bumper but remains on his feet. The driver then turns the car towards a second man standing at nearby flats, striking him at speed and propelling him into the air before fleeing towards Balmoral Terrace. Despite the impact, neither man required medical treatment, and neighbours said the pair remained in the area following the incident. One woman said: 'It was scary seeing the footage of what happened. 'The lads who got hit didn't even leave the street, and then the uniformed police arrived. 'There were three or four officers on the street, and CID came back the next day to carry out door-to-door enquiries. 'All they told us was that an incident had happened. 'It's absolutely mental what's going on in Dundee just now.' Police confirmed the hit-and-run is believed to have been targeted. A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: 'Police are appealing for witnesses following a hit-and-run in Dundee. 'Around 3.15pm on Tuesday, 10 June, officers were called to Balmoral Place after two men were deliberately struck by a black Vauxhall Corsa. 'They did not require medical treatment. 'The incident is believed to have been targeted and inquiries are ongoing.' Detective Inspector Craig Kelly said: 'We have been carrying out extensive inquiries, including reviewing CCTV. Cannabis farm worth more than £1m found in Greenock
The discovery was made after officers executed a warrant at a property in Clarence Street on Thursday, June 5. An extensive cannabis cultivation was found inside, with the drugs having an estimated street value of £1,306,200. Five men, aged 17, 23, 26, 38 and 50 were arrested and charged in connection with drug offences. They appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court on Friday, June 6. Sergeant Gary Arthur said: "This is a significant recovery and is an example of our efforts to disrupt the trade in illegal drugs in Scotland. "It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country's Serious Organised Crime Strategy. "We would continue to urge anyone with information or concerns about drugs and firearms activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
