The San Antonio Spurs, unless they make a trade, will pick second, 14th, and 38th in the 2025 NBA Draft. Ever since the Spurs shot up the lottery, they have been linked to Rutgers' standout Dylan Harper with the second pick, and the 14th pick will either be dangled in trades or used to add a depth piece.

As the Spurs seem to take a step back from the Kevin Durant trade pursuit, the likelihood that they end up making a selection late in the lottery grows, and they have a clear area of need: backup center.
Aside from Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs do not have a center on a guaranteed contract for next season, and Charles Bassey and Sandro Mamukelashvili have been unreliable during their NBA careers.
With solid options in the draft like Derik Queen, Maxime Raynaud, Thomas Sorber, and perhaps even Khamam Maluach, all possibilities, a recent mock draft by ESPN has the Spurs drafting French standout Joan Beringer, who is currently playing in the Slovenian League.
Beringer is very, very raw, but he is already a solid defender and excellent lob threat. While he can't space the floor or handle the ball, he vacuums up rebounds and can swat shots. Perhaps, in time, he could share the floor with Victor Wembanyama and floor spacers/facilitators who can find him under the basket for easy dunks.

Between Zach Collins in San Antonio and Rudy Gobert in the Olympics, Wembanyama has not been able to find his stride while playing with another big man, so Beringer will likely end up being his backup.
Considering his defensive upside, that works out well. If he shares the court with scorers like Keldon Johnson, Harrison Barnes, Julian Champagnie, Dylan Harper, or even Devin Vassell, he will be able to thrive on defense and stay out of the way on offense, giving him a role from day one.
In the ABA League, Beringer averaged 4.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 18 minutes per game. He is not an efficient scorer yet, but as a true seven-footer, he should be able to find easy points in the paint, although his developmental timeline leaves a lot to be desired.

BOSTON — The Celtics, like 29 other NBA teams, are assigned 20 players to interview at the NBA Draft Combine every May in Chicago. Heads turned last week when Yahoo Sports reported that projected No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg was one of the players Boston interviewed, despite the fact the Celtics hold just the No. 28 and No. 32 picks in the 2025 NBA Draft. Was the interview with the New England phenom an indication that the Celtics are trying to do something splashy on draft night? Not quite, according to Brad Stevens. 'The people we know who we can't get in to work out is how we decide who we want to talk to. Otherwise, we may never get to talk to them again. So that doesn't really have anything to do with any of that. Will there be fireworks on draft night? I can't imagine. But again, who knows? I wouldn't guess with us, no.' The Celtics could be making some splashy moves with big names this offseason amid a financial crunch following a disappointing second-round exit. However, that activity will not be coming on draft night, according to Stevens. 'I think generally, one of the concerns with the new CBA was it might limit trade activity or movement, and I don't know,' Stevens said. 'I don't think, necessarily even big-picture, that's the case. I think there are no specifics at all. But I wouldn't be surprised to see movement continue to happen across the league. But as far as us and moving up to those levels in the draft, I would guess that that is probably not a thing.' The Kevin Durant trade sweepstakes are starting to get momentum ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft as three teams are at the top of his list. Per ESPN's Shams Charania, the Heat, Spurs and Rockets are Durant's preferred trade destinations. Charania reports that Durant would sign long-term extensions with each of those franchises. Durant, 36, is on an expiring $54.7 million deal. So teams looking to trade for the All-Star could be looking to keep him beyond just the 2025-26 season. Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season in 62 games, so even though he's getting older, it's clear he can still impact the game at a high level. He also reported that the Suns "have made clear to six-to-eight seriously interested teams that they will make the best deal for the franchise." Miami was mediocre last season, finishing 37-45 after trading Jimmy Butler midseason.
