TGV SRAAC expands Kurnool plant with thyssenkrupp tech
Considering the high-energy efficiency of the technology of one of the worldwide leading suppliers of electrolysis technology, TGV SRAAC has now selected thyssenkrupp nucera's latest generation BiTAC technology for chlor-alkali electrolysis. The eBiTAC v7 for highly-efficient production of caustic soda using the proven BiTAC bipolar ion exchange membrane process electrolyzer, enables energy consumption at low levels.
TGV SRAAC Ltd has selected thyssenkrupp nucera to expand its chlor-alkali plant in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, increasing caustic soda capacity by 50 per cent from 1,000 to 1,500 tons/day. The project uses thyssenkrupp's energy-efficient eBiTAC v7 electrolysis technology. This milestone strengthens a partnership that began in 2004 and reinforces commitment to innovation and efficiency.
With this safe, proven, and energy-efficient technology, the flagship company of the Indian TGV Group is increasing the production capacity for caustic soda at its plant in Kurnool by 50 percent from the current 1,000 tons per day to 1,500 tons per day. After the expansion of the plant, TGV SRAAC will be able to produce a total of approximately 500,000 tons of caustic soda per year.
'This is a watershed project for us, especially since it involves expanding our plant significantly. We are convinced of the merits of thyssenkrupp nucera's technology, and eagerly look forward to them delivering a state-of-the-art plant,' says T.G. Venkatesh, Chairman of the TGV Group.
The collaboration in the field of chlor-alkali electrolysis between thyssenkrupp nucera and TGV SRAAC, as well as the former Sree Rayalaseema Alkalies and Allied Chemicals Ltd., spans more than two decades. It began in 2004 when thyssenkrupp nucera's bipolar membrane (BM) electrolyzezs were used in the expansion of the chlor-alkali plant at that time. The German electrolysis specialist then repeatedly supported the expansion of production capacities with its chlor-alkali technology.
'We thank the customer for the faith reposed in us. The project is a testimony of our capabilities and commitment to innovation. It also symbolizes the excellent synergies we have in our group, with our China Office collaborating with our India office to support the customer for this project,' says Dr. Roland Beckmann, Executive Director Chlor-Alkali thyssenkrupp nucera.
Kiran Joseph, CEO (a.i.) and CFO of thyssenkrupp nucera India , adds: 'We are honored to have been selected to implement this prestigious project, and our team looks forward to beginning implementation. We have always prided ourselves on our ability to offer 'under-one-roof' solutions including after-sales services for the Chlor-Alkali industry'. Trump non-committal on whether extra India tariffs will go with Russia-Ukraine ceasefire
U.S. President Donald Trump did not confirm whether the additional 25% tariffs he had announced on Wednesday (August 6, 2025), on Indian exports to the U.S., for New Delhi's trade in arms and energy with Moscow, would be cancelled if Russia and Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire. 'Well, we'll determine that later, but right now, they're paying a 50% tariff,' Mr. Trump told a reporter who asked if the additional 25% tariff on top of the 25% 'reciprocal tariff', would go following a ceasefire. Mr. Trump was taking questions at an event at the White House with Apple CEO Tim Cook. The President said he would be imposing a tariff of 100% on computer chips and semiconductors, while announcing that Apple would invest $100 billion in the U.S. Mr Trump had reportedly told European allies on Wednesday that he would have an in-person meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin as early as next week and had plans for a follow-up with Mr. Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Also, on Wednesday, Mr. Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Mr. Putin on Wednesday. Talks 'productive' Mr. Trump described the talks as 'productive' and said he did not know if the additional tariffs on India had anything to do with this. 'And as you know, we put a 50% tariff on India on oil. They're the second largest [purchaser of Russian oil]. They're very close to China in terms of the purchase of oil from Russia. So, I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but we've had very productive talks today,' he said. After imposing additional tariffs on India for trading in arms and energy with Russia, U.S. President Donald Trump said other countries could follow suit, suggesting China by name as a possibility. Asked why he was 'singling India out' for additional tariffs, Mr. Trump said, 'It's only been eight hours. So let's see what happens over the… You're going to see a lot more. You're going to see so much secondary sanctions,' he said.

Mercedes-Benz is planning a slew of new offerings globally as the brand plans to bring as many as 30 models to the market by 2027. In a document prepared for investors, the German luxury automaker revealed its product offensive strategy, calling it 'the biggest product launch program in the history of Mercedes-Benz." Mercedes-Benz Planning A Product Onslaught In 2026-27 The Mercedes-Benz CLA has already been revealed as part of this future roadmap, while the company has also revealed the CLA Shooting Brake, which will arrive in both ICE and electric drivetrain options. In its presentation, the carmaker revealed it plans to introduce two new entry models. These are likely the new-generation GLA and GLB, which will share their underpinnings with the new CLA.
