Apple's iPhone 17 Pro Max may have the biggest iPhone battery ever
's upcoming
iPhone 17 Pro Max
could feature the largest battery capacity in
iPhone
history, with leaked internal design images suggesting a battery exceeding 5,000 mAh – a significant jump from current models that would put it on par with Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The leak comes from Korean tipster yeux1122, who posted alleged CAD renders on the blogging platform Naver showing the device's internal components. The images reveal a larger internal compartment designed to accommodate the bigger battery, along with a reconfigured layout that includes repositioned
MagSafe
coils and what appears to be space for a vapor-chamber cooling system.
Metal battery covers and improved thermal management
The leaked renders also show the iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a metal-covered battery, similar to the current iPhone 16 Pro but extended to the Pro Max model. This metal covering is designed to improve heat dissipation, addressing thermal management concerns that come with larger battery capacities. The images suggest two battery configurations – an L-shaped version for models with physical SIM trays and a more rectangular design for SIM-free variants like those sold in the United States.

Camera upgrades complement internal redesign
Beyond the battery improvements, the leaked images confirm rumours of a substantially larger camera bump to accommodate enhanced optics. Separate reports from Instant Digital suggest the iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with up to 8x optical zoom, using a moving lens system that can switch between different focal lengths for improved image quality.
iPhone 17 series launch date (expected)
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 lineup on September 9, 2025, with the Pro Max joining the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro. The device is also rumoured to include an
A19 Pro chip
, 12GB of RAM, and support for 25-watt wireless charging.
