Zodiac Signs: Outdoor Adventurers vs Couch Potatoes

Time of India28-04-2025
Ever curious about which zodiac signs would prefer to climb a mountain rather than crawl into bed? While some are addicted to the rush of fresh air and the hum of nature, others like the cosiness of a known blanket and a good show to binge. Whether you're the one lugging a backpack or steeping a cup of tea, your zodiac sign may hold the key. Let's check out which signs are comfortable with the great outdoors—and which just want to stick around the house.
The Outdoor Adventurers
Aries
Aries love action and thrills. They're always looking to explore, climb, sprint, or dive into something. The outdoors is where they get to burn energy and pursue adrenalin.

Sagittarius
Sagittarius is the genuine free spirit of the zodiac. They adore open spaces, new geography, and the sense of liberty that accompanies being out there. The more unplanned, the better.
Leo
Leos adore sunshine, laughter, and action. If it's a day at the beach, a hike with friends, or a starry night festival, they're there. A little flair in nature fits them to a tee.
Gemini
Geminis are curious and love variety, so the outdoors is an ideal fit. They love to try new things—kayaking, rock climbing, or just a hike. As long as it's intellectually stimulating, they're game.
Aquarius
Aquarius appreciates the outdoors in reflective, sometimes unorthodox ways. They're attracted to stargazing, walks in nature, and green-friendly getaways. It's as much about discovery and significance as it is about fresh air.
The Indoor Loungers
Cancer
Cancer is most content in comforting, familiar surroundings. Home is their haven, where they can relax and renew themselves. A rainstorm and a snuggly blanket are more their style.
Taurus
Taurus is all about relaxation and tranquillity. They like nature, but from the picnic blanket, not the mountain peak. Indoors, they get to indulge in their favourite foods, music, and naps without disturbance.
Pisces
Pisces is dreamy and imaginative, with their head often in the clouds or lost in creative activities. They love calm environments and time alone, and indoor spaces are ideal for them to relax. A movie marathon or reading is bliss to them.
Libra
Libra loves beauty and balance, and usually finds these indoors. A nicely decorated room or a nice bath is so much more enjoyable than camping outside. They'd rather have harmony than adventure.
Virgo
Virgos love serene, tidy rooms, and staying indoors makes them feel put together and solid. Though they may appreciate a walk in the park, they feel more comfortable in a room where they have the ability to be in control. Peace and order are what matter.
Scorpio
Scorpios are all about secrecy and intensity and tend to find that easier indoors. A peaceful room with soft lighting is preferable to them over a busy trail. Solitude is their niche.
Capricorn
Capricorn values nature, but normally with an agenda, such as a hike that also serves as exercise. However, they are frequently drawn to ordered, functional indoor settings. Relaxation has to be earned.

Ronaldo is engaged, but how is he living together with Georgina in Saudi Arabia unmarried?

Saudi Arabia prohibits unmarried couples from cohabiting, but recent leniency for foreigners and tourists signals cautious legal evolution/ Image: Instagram Cristiano Ronaldo 's recent engagement to Georgina Rodríguez has drawn renewed attention to Saudi Arabia 's strict cohabitation laws. Despite longstanding legal prohibitions against unmarried couples living together, the football star and his partner have openly shared a home in Riyadh. As Ronaldo now signals a lifelong commitment to the Kingdom, his case highlights how Saudi law is evolving for foreigners, and where the lines still remain firmly drawn. Ronaldo's engagement and his long-term commitment to Saudi Arabia Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are now officially engaged, marking a new chapter in a relationship that began in Madrid nearly a decade ago. Rodríguez confirmed the news with a photo of a large ring and a caption in Spanish: 'Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.' The couple first met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant and Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid. Their connection, as Rodríguez has described in past interviews, was 'love at first sight.' The relationship quickly deepened, and the pair have since built a life together that spans continents, clubs, and now countries. Though they have not publicly announced a wedding date, Ronaldo has referred to Rodríguez as his wife on multiple occasions. At the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, he said during his acceptance speech: 'It's a big pleasure to win this trophy. My oldest son is here, my wife is here.' Today, they are raising five children together, daughters Bella and Alana, as well as Ronaldo's older children Cristiano Jr., by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like People Aged 50-85 With No Life Insurance Could Get This Reassured Get Quote Undo Eva, and Mateo. Their life together is currently based in Riyadh, where Ronaldo plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. In July 2025, he made his most definitive statement yet about his future, saying in a video released by Al-Nassr: 'My family always supports my decisions, and we're happy here in Saudi Arabia... That's why we want to live here and build our lives here.' At 40, Ronaldo revealed that while his current contract extends for two more years as a footballer, his connection to the Kingdom goes far beyond the sport. 'I will stay two more years as a football player, but also for life because my contribution to this country is not only for football... I want to be part of the country's growth forever.' He described Saudi Arabia as a land of 'peace and safety' , adding that he and his family feel deeply welcomed by the local people and culture. 'We don't need to prove anything to anyone,' he said. 'I love the culture. I'd just say: come and see it for yourself.' Living together before marriage, a legal grey zone Until recently, it would have been legally impossible for Ronaldo and Rodríguez to cohabit in Saudi Arabia. The country's legal system, rooted in Islamic Sharia law, formally prohibits couples from living together outside of marriage. These rules are generally upheld through legal, social, and cultural norms. Yet, since Ronaldo's arrival in late 2022, following his high-profile departure from Manchester United , he and Rodríguez have openly lived as a family in Riyadh without facing any penalties. This arrangement raised immediate questions, especially among those familiar with the Kingdom's legal environment. According to the Spanish news agency EFE, local authorities made an unofficial exception in Ronaldo's case. Two Saudi lawyers told EFE that while the law technically remains in place, it is no longer consistently enforced for foreign nationals: 'Although the laws still p rohibit cohabitation without a marriage contract, the authorities have begun to turn a blind eye and do not persecute anyone. Of course, these laws are used when there is a problem or a crime,' one lawyer said. Another legal expert added: 'The Saudi Arabian authorities, today, do not interfere in this matter [in the case of foreigners], but the law continues to prohibit cohabitation outside of marriage.' These remarks make clear that Ronaldo's high status and visibility have likely afforded him a degree of leniency not available to most. Beyond his $700 million Al-Nassr contract and equity stake, the fact that he and Rodríguez are raising five children together and already committed, waiting only for the 'perfect click' to formalize their engagement, reflects how their near-married family life must have influenced the Kingdom's to grant them unofficial leniency. What the law says, and who it applies to Saudi Arabia's cohabitation laws, rooted in Islamic teachings, consider marriage the only sanctioned structure for romantic relationships and shared domestic life. Cohabitation outside of marriage, though not always explicitly codified, is treated as a criminal offense under the broader legal framework. For most residents and foreign workers, living together as an unmarried couple can result in severe penalties, including: Fines: Depending on circumstances, financial penalties can be significant. Detention: Individuals may be detained during investigations. Deportation: Foreign nationals found violating cohabitation laws are often deported and banned from returning. Legal Prosecution: Charges may lead to trial, especially if compounded by other legal breaches. Professional Consequences: Employers can terminate contracts or revoke sponsorships. Saudi society also places high value on moral conduct, family honor, and public modesty, reinforcing these legal expectations culturally. New law allows hotel stays for unmarried foreign tourists While domestic laws remain strict, Saudi Arabia has recently introduced specific legal relaxations for foreign visitors, particularly around hotel stays. In a bid to grow its tourism sector, the Kingdom now allows unmarried foreign couples to share hotel rooms without providing proof of marriage. This change applies only to foreign nationals. Saudi citizens are still required to present legal documentation of marriage if they wish to stay together in a hotel. The new regulation represents a calculated step toward accommodating international norms while preserving domestic standards. Importantly, this hotel exemption does not extend to private residences or long-term cohabitation. Foreign residents who live and work in Saudi Arabia are still generally expected to follow the country's broader legal framework, unless, as in Ronaldo's case, unofficial leniency is granted.

Transforming confusion into curiosity: Guide for high schoolers navigating their future

Navigating high school uncertainty: Here's how to transform confusion into curiosity for life design (Image: iStock) If you are a high schooler who feels uncertain about the future, here's a way to look at it: confusion is not failure, it is an invitation to explore what excites you and find your values. The pressure to have your 'plan' sorted out by the time you are 17 can make confusion feel like a problem to fix but in reality, it is a natural state at the start of any design process and most students at that age are figuring things out. What if we could be proficient "life designers"? Bill Burnett and Dave Evans, authors of Designing Your Life , put it this way: 'You can't know where you're going until you know where you are.' In their Stanford course, and in the Life Design lab courses at Ashoka University, NID and the ISB, they teach students to be designers. Designers start with curiosity, asking questions and trying things. Life works much the same way. Is the pressure to choose a career path by 17 harmful? Rethinking high school success (Image: iStock) High school is at times a rat race, from choosing a stream of education to marks to future employment. We live in a world today where nothing remains static for long so an antiquated model of education has no place in the modern scheme of things. The need of the hour is not just another topper in academics but a mind shift from confusion to curiosity. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Simple Morning Habit for a Flatter Belly After 50! Lulutox Undo From confused to curious: A high schooler's guide to life design In an interview with TOI, Navyug Mohnot, Life Coach, Educator and a visiting faculty member at the National Institute of Design, suggested, "Instead of demanding that you predict your entire career path, life design invites you to explore the possibilities one step at a time. The question shifts from 'What do I want to do forever?' to 'What can I try next?' These smaller, less intimidating questions create space for experiments — shadowing someone at work, volunteering for a cause, joining a new club. " Psychologist Carol Dweck's research on growth mindset reinforces this: the more you see skills and interests as things that can grow, the more likely you are to explore widely. This mindset shift, from confusion to curiosity, is the foundation for designing a life that is not only successful but meaningful. Are high school students being pressured to have their futures figured out too soon? (Image: iStock) Asserting that curiosity is the only tool one should carry, Mamta Shekhawat, Founder of (a study abroad platform), recommended, "It can be tempting to believe in a world where the career options are endless and opportunities vast that you must have it all figured out by the time school is over — but you do not need to. This is why we encourage students to move beyond the traditional career path and realise that life is not about getting a job but rather discovering your passions, learning new skills and evolving over time. " A global education is essential in this. Once you move out of the local environment, it only shows different cultures, trends and ways of thinking to make your life a new style. The mission should be to take students from confusion to clarity, pressure to purpose and help high schoolers get into the best universities and programs around the world.

Janmashtami 2025: Food rules and do's and don'ts to follow while fasting

Janmashtami, the celebration of Lord Krishna's birth, is approaching. Devotees will observe fasts, either abstaining from food and water or consuming only fruits and milk. The festival includes offering 56 dishes to Lord Krishna. Experts advise mindful snacking, staying hydrated, and eating light, Satvik meals. Donating food and feeding cows are considered noble acts. The vibrant festival of Janmashtami is around the corner. This day commemorates the birthday of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu and is celebrated on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the month of Bhadrapada. This year, the festival falls on August 16, 2025 (Saturday). On this day devotees observe fast and then celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna at midnight by offering him chhappan bhog, which means 56 dishes and the bhog thali includes his favourites like makhan mishri, panchamrit, makhana paag, gopalkala, and more. Types of fasts On Janmashtami, devotees observe either of the two types of fasts Nirjala fast: In this fasting, devotees abstain from both food and water throughout the day and they break the fast at midnight after offering prayer and aarti to Lord Krishna. Phalahar fast: As the name suggest, in this fast devotees eat fruits, milk and water and refrain from consuming grains, legumes, and vegetables. Key food rules to follow while fasting Be mindful of your festive snacking: It's crucial to be aware of what you consume during fasting, as snacking often leads to overindulgence. Avoid fried options like fries and pakodas, and instead, opt for healthier choices like nuts (such as almonds), makhanas, and fruits. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your New Zealand escape starts with Singapore Airlines Fly with Singapore Airlines Book Now Undo Almonds are especially beneficial for heart health, weight management, and diabetes control. Additionally, almonds provide a healthy source of energy to keep you active, particularly during fasting. Their satiating nature can also make fasting more manageable. Stay hydrated: Optimal hydration is essential for various bodily functions, and it becomes even more important during fasting. Dehydration can cause fatigue, headaches, and irritability, which are undesirable when fasting. Ensure you consume an adequate amount of water. Other options to stay hydrated include fruit juices, coconut water, etc. Opt for light and Satvik meals: Satvik foods, known for their purity and ease of digestion, are ideal for fasting. These meals align with the spiritual essence of Janmashtami while providing the nourishment needed to keep your energy levels up. Include fruits, yogurt, almonds, and grains like buckwheat (kuttu), amaranth (rajgira), and water chestnut (singhara) in your diet to stay balanced and energized. Break your fast mindfully: Breaking your fast mindfully is important as it helps your body adjust smoothly after a period of not eating. Consuming too much or too quickly can lead to bloating or discomfort. Starting with lighter, easy-to-digest foods gives your stomach time to adjust and process food properly. It also helps maintain steady energy levels and prevents overeating, which is better for your overall health. Listen to your body: Fasting is more than just abstaining from food; it involves paying attention to your body and recognizing its needs. If you start feeling weak or dizzy, it's essential to break your fast with light and healthy foods. Nutritionists emphasize that fasting should refresh and cleanse your body, not leave you drained. If you have health issues like diabetes or low blood pressure, consult a healthcare professional before you begin fasting. Dos: Eat fresh fruits: As per experts, to keep the body energized, it is recommended to eat fresh fruits or even dry fruits. Fruits like apples, blackberries, bananas, grapes, walnuts, almonds, and dates can be consumed, which will keep you active and boost immunity as well. Donate food: On this day, donating food and water is considered a noble act. And when you are observing a fast, it is suggested that you donate food to the needy. It is believed that the act of donating brings happiness and prosperity. Also, during the Janmashtami fast, feeding the cows is considered noble, as cows are very close to Lord Krishna. Consume milk and curd: This festival is incomplete without milk and curd. While fasting, you may indulge in shakes made with fresh fruits, or you may drink sweet lassi or salty lassi made with curd and sendha namak. Savoury snack: In many regions, people observe the nirjala fast (avoid food and water) on Janmashtami, while others eat vrat ka khana. If you follow the latter, you may indulge in sabudana papad, sabudana khichdi, kuttu paratha, or samak rice cooked in desi ghee and sendha namak to keep the body healthy and energized. Don'ts: Avoid meat and eggs: While observing a fast, the consumption of meat and non-vegetarian food is strictly prohibited. Avoid onions and garlic: On this day, people avoid eating and cooking onions and garlic. Also, the feast or bhog prepared for the Janmashtami festival doesn't use onion or garlic. Avoid tea or coffee: As per experts, one should avoid indulging in tea and coffee, as they create acidity and may cause uneasiness, heaviness, and headaches while fasting. Avoid alcohol: On this day, people also avoid consuming alcohol, tobacco, and cigarettes. Avoid oily food: It is also suggested to avoid oily foods to keep the gut healthy and avoid laziness. As per experts, oily food slows the digestion process, and hence, during fasting it might lead to health issues. All Images Courtesy: istock
