How Cheryl is keeping Liam Payne's selfless promise to Bear as she returns to spotlight

Daily Mirrora day ago
Cheryl has stepped back into the spotlight for the first time since the death of Liam Payne - and she is determined to honour his intentions for their young son Bear
It's been ten months since Liam Payne tragically passed away - and his former partner Cheryl is determined to fulfil his wishes when it comes to their son, eight-year-old Bear.

This week, Cheryl announced her first project following Liam's untimely death in October 2024. She has teamed up with skincare giant Nivea, and on Monday a teaser video was released, showing her walking into a studio before holding up a newspaper featuring the lyrics of her 2009 hit, Fight For This Love, alongside "August 2025", over her face.

According to reports, Cheryl had a "non-negotiable request" when it came to her return to the spotlight - she would only take part if she could have her son Bear by her side.

An insider told the Daily Mail: "It was very important for Cheryl to have Bear there with her. They are inseparable... As you can imagine it has been the most heartbreaking few months for the two of them and she has done everything she can to support him. She has had some pretty low ebbs herself, but just seeing Bear happy always puts a smile back on her face."
It's clear that Cheryl dotes on her son and she is determined to fulfil Liam's wishes when it comes to their only child.
Liam previously spoke about his wish for Bear to inherit all his money, and sources say Cheryl will 'do the right thing' by ensuring that's exactly what happens.
The One Direction singer, who fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, was declared intestate as he did not have a will. That meant, as an unmarried parent, his estate was to be shared between any children; he only had Bear.

Cheryl was granted the power of administration of the musician's estate after his death. It is understood Liam's fortune, largely made during his boyband years, was placed in a trust for his son.
The star left a total of £28,595,000, which was later reduced to £24,280,000 after his expenses and debts were paid, according to court documents.
"It is a small consolation that Bear will never want for anything, that he will at least benefit from that. Liam had some very sensible people around him for a time and he adored Bear so much. He always wanted to do the right thing by him financially," a source close to Liam told Mail Online.

Cheryl and Liam welcomed Bear in March 2017 but they went their separate ways when he was just one. The pair remained close, however, and Cheryl's heartbreak was clear following Liam's death.
"As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I'd like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being," she wrote on Instagram.

"Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again."
At the time of his death, Liam was dating British-American influencer Kate Cassidy - but speaking he said in his documentary, Ant Middleton and Liam Payne: Straight Talking, he revealed how much he still treasured Cheryl.
"She's one of the most, if not the most, important people in my life. I'm lucky I have someone who understands what I'm going through," he said.

Cheryl, similarly, harboured no ill will. "There's no animosity whatsoever. We are learning all the time. We're just like any other couple that have gone through this, but we have a few more eyes watching us... Just a few."
She told The Sun in 2019: "I'm actually really happy that we can be the way we are. We love and care about each other a lot and we share a child. It's really important that we're able to have a very healthy good relationship." She added: "We're going to be in each other's lives forever so we've got to figure it out and be grown-up about it."

And Liam once gave fans an insight into their co-parenting agreement. The exes lived close to each other, and while Liam spent regular quality time with Bear, he told how Cheryl had generously given him free rein to do what he wants.
"She is the best mum in the world . I couldn't ask for someone better," he told Logan Paul's podcast Impaulsive. "I get to take my son to school one or two times a week and it's the best thing. The relationship we have now as friends has only grown more.
"We broke up for a reason and now she gives me full autonomy of my life and to do what I do and I know he's [Bear's] taken care of. He is all she cares about and I couldn't ask for more. They live like three minutes from my house. I always glue myself to where he is. My life now is his. My money is his. He's a lovely, lovely boy. We've been blessed."

I've had so many compliments on this sell-out Marks & Spencer lace skirt - here's how to wear the latest version

Those satin slip skirts with lingerie-like lace trims? Lovely, but a bit clingy if you've ever had a baby/have just eaten a massive lunch. White midi skirts? I love the freshness, but can guarantee I'd have tea or toothpaste on there within five minutes. The lace maxi skirt however - now that is a trend I've got on board with, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. I bought Marks & Spencer's lace tiered maxi skirt earlier this year, and have been wearing it consistently throughout the warmer months, getting compliments from the discerning bunch at You magazine every time. It's clearly not just me that loves the skirt - it sold out quickly from M&S stores and online, much to the disappointment of a tres chic colleague who wanted to buy one too. However, the other day I was browsing the Marks & Spencer website when I came across a very similar style from the brand, the Lace Maxi Tiered Skirt (£50). One thing I really rate about M&S clothing is that a lot of their separates come in different lengths, which is helpful if you are 5 foot 9 like me, and a regular length maxi lands more like mid-calf than near the floor. Lace Maxi Tiered Skirt £50 Shop As well as the length of the skirt, I have also appreciated its versatility. You can dress it up for the office, or go super casual at the weekend with trainers and a tee. My only big warning would be to keep an eye on your footwear - I once wore biker-style buckled sandals with my skirt, and spent the whole day grimacing as hardware caught on lace and threatened to rip the skirt part (thank god to the fashion team at You magazine, who let me borrow some less threatening flats). Here are some of the key ways I've been styling the lace maxi... How to style a lace maxi skirt Outfit 1: Silk shirt and sandals Outfit 2: Oversized bomber and baby tee Outfit 3: Smart cardigan and suede shoes Outfit 4: Fine knit and trainers To get more of what you love from your favourite Sunday supplement, follow us on Instagram (@youmagazine), Facebook (YOU Magazine) and X (@YOUMagSocial).

King Charles welcomes rarely seen Royal Family member to Balmoral for summer

Princess Beatrice's stepson will be joining her and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi as they enjoy a summer getaway at the Balmoral estate A seldom-spotted member of the Royal Family appears poised to accompany King Charles and the rest of the Firm at Balmoral. ‌ Charles formally began his break in the Scottish Highlands earlier this week, where numerous relatives are anticipated to join him. ‌ It appears that amongst those invited is a low-profile family member who will get to experience the numerous outdoor pursuits available in the Aberdeenshire countryside. ‌ Princess Beatrice's stepson Christopher Woolf, nicknamed Wolfie, is expected to make the journey to the royal residence alongside her and his father, Beatrice's husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Beatrice, who is also mother to daughters Sienna and Athena, will allegedly participate in the Balmoral retreat, together with her sister Princess Eugenie and her family, plus their parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, reports the Mirror. A family insider revealed to the Daily Mail: "He will enjoy a wonderful holiday of outdoor activities such as wild swimming and cycling." Edo and Wolfie's mother, American architect Dara Huang, have attempted to rigorously protect their nine-year-old son's privacy. Nevertheless, he has now appeared at various public occasions with the royals, including at Sandringham last Christmas, where he participated in the customary walk to church. ‌ His journey to Balmoral will also follow time spent holidaying in Florida with his mother earlier this summer. Wolfie took centre stage at Beatrice and Edo's Royal wedding in 2020, though royal watchers weren't treated to any photographs of him as the couple chose to keep the ceremony private. The youngster served as both best man to his father and page boy for the occasion. ‌ A pal of the pair revealed to the Daily Mail that Wolfie was given this special responsibility to demonstrate how cherished and welcomed he is by Beatrice. They said: "Bea is totally into the stepmum role. She's very concerned about getting it right and making every effort to be a second mother to Wolfie. She's totally devoted to him and talks about him all the time." The source also revealed that Beatrice is determined to ensure Wolfie understands he belongs to two families, even decorating their house with pictures of the lad. ‌ They continued: "Bea has always been really close to Edo's family, so it's natural that Wolfie should become part of hers. "He's a super little boy and extremely cute. It will be interesting to see what happens when they start their own family – but Bea is so caring, his happiness will always be her number one priority." ‌ On Monday morning, Charles reached the Aberdeenshire estate in his official Bentley for his formal reception at Balmoral. The King reviewed regimental mascot Corporal Cruachan IV, a Shetland pony, as it stood alongside handler Corporal Rory Stewart whilst the sovereign examined his Royal Guard. A Guard of Honour, presented by Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS), officially welcomed the King to Balmoral, despite his private attendance at a church service there on Sunday. Following the ceremony, a performance from the Pipes and Drums, comprised of soldiers from across the regiment, including the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Battalions, showcased a display of pageantry closely tied to this year's Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
