Namma Metro to run Yellow Line trains from 5 am on Monday
Bengaluru, Aug 17 (PTI) Namma Metro's Yellow Line services will commence at 5 am on Monday, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) announced on Sunday.
In view of an anticipated rise in passenger traffic following the extended Independence Day weekend, the first trains will depart from R V Road and Delta Electronics Bommasandra stations at 5 am on August 18.
'This special arrangement is applicable only for Monday. From Tuesday, services will resume at the regular start time of 6:30 am," the BMRCL said in a statement.
The corporation has urged commuters to utilise this early service for hassle-free travel. Services on the Purple and Green lines will continue to operate from 4:15 am on Mondays as per the existing schedule, it added. PTI GMS ADB

20 tourists stranded in Ranthambore after guide leaves mid-route: Report
Twenty tourists were stranded in the Ranthambore National Park after their safari vehicle broke down, and the guide abandoned them mid-route in the forest to retrieve another vehicle and never returned. At 6 pm, the canter carrying tourists, including children, broke down, and according to the tourist, the guide left saying that he would fetch another vehicle, NDTV reported. The tourists also claimed that the guide misbehaved with them and never returned, leaving them stranded in the forest from 6 pm to 7:30 pm before they were finally rescued. The matter came to light after reportedly a video surfaced showing tourists in the middle of the forest. The video caught the park administration's attention, which initiated a probe and took action. Three Canter drivers and the guide have been barred from entering the park till the probe is completed, Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Pramod Dhakad told PTI. DCF Dhakad also said that Assistant Conservator of Forests Ashwini Pratap has been assigned to conduct a detailed inquiry. "Those restricted include canter drivers Kanhaiya, Shehzad Choudhary, and Liaqat Ali, along with guide Mukesh Kumar Bairwa," Dhakad said further. With darkness falling, heated exchanges broke out between tourists and the guide, parts of which were recorded in the video. Meanwhile, Ranthambore Tiger Reserve's Field Director and Chief Conservator, Anoop KR, told NDTV that tourist safety is the top priority of the park. He also assured that strict action will be taken against any guide or driver for violating rules and exercising negligence. Ranthambore National Park is one of the biggest national parks in northern India, located in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. It is home to the Royal Bengal tigers. The Canter safari is a 20-seater open bus that operates in some safari zones to explore wildlife.

Independence Day rush spurs rise in rail footfall; calls grow for special trains for Onam
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Major railway stations across the Thiruvananthapuram Division recorded close to a 20% spike in passenger footfall during the Independence Day weekend. The rush, which began on Thursday evening, was managed effectively with the operation of special trains and the addition of extra coaches, said senior railway officials. The surge in passenger numbers is expected to continue until Monday morning. Since Independence Day fell on Friday this year, Southern Railway introduced special services to manage the crowd, including the Mangaluru Junction-Thiruvananthapuram North Special on August 14 and 16, along with return services from Thiruvananthapuram North-Mangaluru Junction on August 15 and 17. Officials said these measures offered much relief to passengers at busy stations. Senior officials of Southern Railway said that the rush is only a precursor to the heavier traffic during Onam. Sources said the passenger footfall is projected to rise by over 40% between September 4 and 7. With this in mind, passengers have urged the Southern Railway to consider deploying additional Vande Bharat Express services for the festive season.
