The Wisconsin Badgers (18-5, 8-4 Big Ten) and Iowa Hawkeyes (13-9, 4-7) clash in a Saturday matinee in Iowa City. The opening tip at Carver-Hawkeye Arena will be at 1 p.m. ET (NBC). Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's college basketball odds around the Wisconsin vs. Iowaodds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.
Wisconsin -- No. 19 in the USA TODAY Sports Men's Basketball Coaches Poll -- drubbed the Hawkeyes when the rivals met in Madison Jan. 3. UW easily covered as a 6.5-point favorite in a 116-85 triumph. The Badgers have gone 7-2 against the spread (ATS) since. That includes a 76-64 home win over 9.5-point underdog Indiana on Tuesday. Efficient-on-offense UW splashed on a dozen 3-pointers in that win, and the squad has connected on 42.6% of its triples in its last 5 games.
Iowa's Jan. 3 setback at Wisconsin is part of a stretch that has seen the Hawkeyes go 2-7 ATS. UI is 0-6 ATS since Jan. 14; across those 6 games, the Big Ten's worst defense (79.0 points per game) has yielded 85.4 PPG on a 53% mark from the field.

Wisconsin at Iowa picks and predictions
Prediction
Wisconsin 82, Iowa 79
No interest. PASS.
Iowa has been torched in the paint, but its defensive numbers don't match some support analytics, and the Hawkeyes are a regression candidate we're catching at the right time. Recent games aside, UI is also usually quite good at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and is coming off playing quite well in the Tuesday setback against Purdue.
Recent road games, even in ones that finished with straight-up and/or ATS wins, have been more of a down note for UW than what meets the eye. Figure a middle-pace Badger squad being ripe for a 3-driven backdoor falter at minimum.
BET IOWA +5.5 (-105).
The Under has gone 3-1 across the last 4 games for each side.
Wisconsin excels in forcing tough shots, and the Iowa defense figures as underrated in general. Look for the Hawkeyes to be responsible on defense after allowing the c-note at Madison on Jan. 3. And perhaps the noon local start makes for a sleepy start.
BACK THE UNDER 161.5 (-105).

Could the Tampa Bay Buccaneers make a move for a star defender skipping minicamp?

Could the Tampa Bay Buccaneers make a move for a star defender skipping minicamp? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have as near to a complete roster as a team can ask for in this current age of football. Jason Licht's work with his staff while building this current roster of Tampa Bay Buccaneers has not been without growing pains. It took some bad draft classes, trades, and signings to get the process down, but after winning a Super Bowl, he is ready for another. The fast track to getting a second one may be right in front of him. A trio of notable veteran defenders, who are unhappy with their contracts, are skipping the start of their team's mandatory minicamps. T.J. Watt of the Steelers, Trey Hendrickson of the Bengals, and Jalen Ramey of the Dolphins all have been speculated to be the topic of trade rumors at some point this offseason, but could they make sense for the Bucs? Both Hendrickson and Watt would be significant upgrades and solutions to their issues at the edge position. While they have Calijah Kancey and Haason Reddick poised for breakout years, they could use a dominant presence they can lean on. Both Hendrickson and Watt fit that bill. As for Ramsey, the cornerback position is filled with youth, so adding Ramsey not only gives them a reliable outside option but also gives them a veteran voice in the group. A move for any three of them would require a decent amount of draft capital, so it remains to be seen whether Jason Licht can pull the trigger on acquiring one of them. If he were to do so, it would signal the Bucs being all in on the 2025 season.

Who would win between the 2018 and 2021 Rams? GM Les Snead has his pick

Who would win between the 2018 and 2021 Rams? GM Les Snead has his pick The Los Angeles Rams have made two Super Bowls in the past 10 seasons — once in 2018 when they lost to the New England Patriots and then when they won in 2021 over the Cincinnati Bengals. Both made the Super Bowl in different manners, as the 2018 team relied on a high-powered offense under second-year head coach Sean McVay. The 2021 team, meanwhile, swapped Jared Goff for Matthew Stafford under center and had a much more balanced approach between offense and defense. Les Snead was also the general manager of both teams and had a simple answer when ex-Titans GM Ran Carthon asked him which team would win in a game. "2021," Snead said. "They won it. They were very connected. There were a lot of people on that team who were part of '18. So there's that element of the hunger, really the starvation of that taste versus that element of when you first get there." The key elements of Snead's reasoning make sense: The 2021 won it, so clearly they were the better team. They also had the intangible element of having a taste of the Super Bowl, missing out on it and getting another shot at a ring. Clearly, too, Snead doesn't want to get into the Goff vs. Stafford argument. While Goff thrived under McVay, Stafford was good enough to take the team over the edge where Goff could not.

Iowa star invited to USA Basketball AmeriCup team trials

After an impressive junior season with the Iowa women's basketball program, forward Hannah Stuelke has been selected to participate in the 2025 USA Basketball Women's Americup Team trials, which begin June 17 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She will be joined by 20 other players from across the country who were also selected by the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee. In addition to Stuelke, three Big Ten players, including Ohio State's Jaloni Cambridge, USC's Kennedy Smith, and Oregon's Grace VanSlooten, are among the 20 others invited. Advertisement 'On behalf of the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Committee, I am proud to announce a talented group of 21 athletes who will compete for their place on the 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup Team,' said Cori Close, USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee chair. 'About half of these young women have already claimed a gold medal with USA Basketball, so they bring great international experience with them. They are sure to be fierce competitors at trials. We look forward to choosing the group who will best represent the U.S. at the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup.' Stuelke is one of seven participants making their USA Basketball debuts. Kara Lawson (Duke) will serve as head coach, with assistant coaches DeLisha Milton-Jones (Old Dominion University) and Jennie Baranczyk (Oklahoma). At trials, court coaches Jim Flanery (Creighton University) and Robyn Fralick (Michigan State) will assist. Advertisement Following the selection of the 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup Team and a training camp in Colorado Springs, the United States will travel to Santiago, Chile, for the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup, set for June 28-July 6. The 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup Team will open Group B with host nation Chile, followed by Colombia, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. The winner of the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup will earn a berth to the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup, set to be held in Berlin next summer. Since the event's inception in 1993, the United States has captured four AmeriCup gold medals, including titles in 2019 and 2021.
