Despite being three years away, the flag football competition of the Olympics has been a hot topic of discussion amongst current NFL players.

Most recently, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen spoke on the topic. Allen made it clear that he would love the chance to take home a gold medal for the United States.
'I'm not gonna disrespect the guys that are playing flag football right now, but, you know, if there's an opportunity for me to try, I would absolutely love to,' Allen told reporters on Tuesday. 'I've always wanted to compete for my country and, you know, every time the Olympics are on, I'm tuned in and glued to the screen. But I think there's really no greater honor to do that. That'd be really cool.'
Flag football has developed into a much different game than the tackle football played on NFL gridirons, to the point where the current Team USA quarterback Darrell Doucette III has made headlines taking shots at NFL players, saying they shouldn't be given spots on the Olympic roster over longtime flag football players.
That being said, it's hard to imagine a reality where Allen wouldn't dominate the sport. The reigning NFL Most Valuable Player just completed his sixth consecutive season with 40 touchdowns. While Allen has one of the strongest arms in the NFL - averaging 4,048 yards per 17 games - he's also a threat as a runner.

Allen has logged 4,142 yards and 65 touchdowns on the ground in his NFL career, including back-to-back double digit rushing touchdown seasons. At 6-foot-5, Allen has an incredible combination of size, speed, and arm talent.
There are still many decisions that need to be made by USA Football regarding how the country's national team will be selected, but they'll be hard pressed to find a quarterback better equipped for the job than Josh Allen.

We've got 91 days left until the New Orleans Saints open up their 2025 season, which means it's time to continue our countdown with every player to wear No. 91 for the black and gold. The No. 91 jersey currently belongs to rookie defensive tackle Vernon Broughton, who the Saints drafted in Round 3 out of Texas this year. The late Will Smith accomplished more than anyone else to use No. 91, having retired with the fourth-most sacks in franchise history (67.5; his protege Cameron Jordan later surpassed him to claim the all-time Saints record). New Eagles QB is already on thin ice (and training camp hasn't arrived yet)
We may never again see another NFL team hand another more talented quarterback prospect than the Cleveland Browns have given to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Brownies drafted Tim Couch first overall in 1999. The Birds took Donovan McNabb one pick later. The rest, as they say, is history. Then, there was the trade in 2016. Cleveland dealt the second-overall pick to Philadelphia, and with it, the Eagles acquired Carson Wentz. Say what you will about Carson. He set the table for the Birds' first Super Bowl win. Advertisement The Dorian Thompson-Robinson/Kenny Pickett trade wasn't as impactful as landing Donovan or Carson, but it still feels like Philadelphia won out. After all, they earned a fifth-round selection out of the deal. What's strange is that Kenny may make the Browns' roster, and the ceiling for Thompson-Robinson may be a practice squad job, because both are skating on thin ice thanks to a couple of late-round rookies. Kyle McCord's presence on the Eagles roster could spell doom for Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Nothing lasts forever in the NFL, but Pickett and Thompson-Robinson have to be telling themselves that one season would be nice. The former is suffering from 'Shedeur Sanders envy'. The latter seemingly lost his job to Kyle McCord before either played a snap. Advertisement McCord hasn't technically won the job yet, but then again, Philadelphia invested draft capital. That says a lot, and when the rookie stepped on the field to take some reps as the third quarterback, he certainly made the most of his opportunity. It's only June. Training camp hasn't started yet, so there's a long way to go. There are, however, a couple of growing theories, and they might be accurate. Somehow, it feels like we've already seen Thompson-Robinson's ceiling, and McCord might have more natural talent. It seems unlikely that either will play this season in a game that matters, but that isn't the point. Advertisement This is Philadelphia, and a battle for the third quarterback job is just as interesting as any other. Keep an eye on this one as we move through the summer, but if anyone is taking wagers, it's wise to place one on Kyle McCord.
