Nigeria ‘stand with Lookman' after his rage against Atalanta
The striker broke his silence on the club refusing to accept the latest offer from Inter, which is believed to be worth €42m plus €3m in add-ons.
La Dea are requesting €50m, but he insists the proposal is sufficient for a sale and they are 'blocking the opportunity for reasons I do not understand.'

He announced via Instagram that he has made a formal transfer request to Atalanta, although never mentioning Inter, this is his desired destination.
'As a result and after many months of broken promises and what I feel has been poor treatment towards me as both a human being and as a professional footballer, sadly I feel I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right and I feel that enough is enough. I can confirm I have now handed in a formal transfer request.'
Now the Nigeria national team has got involved with the situation, posting a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, that puts the blame squarely on Atalanta.
'We stand with Ademola Lookman,' read the official Super Eagles team account.

Atalanta in turn feel that they are being unfairly maligned by holding out for a €50m asking price, one which other clubs may well be prepared to pay.
Set to turn 28 in October, Lookman was purchased from RB Leipzig for €10.85m plus add-ons in 2022 and flourished, winning the Europa League with a hat-trick in the Final and being named African Player of the Year.

Inter Milan Will Only Sign A Defender If They Sell One – Genoa Star Tops Shortlist
Inter Milan will only sign a defender this summer if they sell one, with Genoa's Koni De Winter at the top of their shortlist. This according to today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. It has long seemed as though Inter would move for a defender this summer. After all, the Nerazzurri's current backline isn't getting any younger. The likes of Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi will turn 34 and 38 respectively next season. Therefore, Inter have been targeting defenders who are much younger than that for months. And in the meantime, Inter have taken steps to lower the average age of the squad. They've signed young players like Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique, and Ange-Yoan Bonny. As well as bringing Francesco Pio Esposito into the first-team fold. (Photo by) According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, though, Inter are not going to sign a defender without selling one first. The likeliest candidate would probably be Yann Bisseck, the newspaper notes. However, the Nerazzurri are in no hurry to sell the German international. Meanwhile, Bisseck himself is also more than happy to say. He reportedly gave the cold shoulder to Crystal Palace after the Premier League club made an offer for him. If Inter were to sell a defender this summer, however, the Gazzetta name Genoa's Koni De Winter as the player they would be most inclined to move for as a replacement.

Atalanta At The ‘Point Of No Return' As Lookman Holds Them To Agreement & Demands Inter Milan Transfer
Atalanta are at the 'point of no return' with Ademola Lookman after the forward very publicly held them to a behind-the-scenes agreement. This according to today's print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They even claim that La Dea had informally promised that the Nigerian could leave for €35-40 million. Yesterday the biggest bombshell yet in the summer transfer soap opera between Ademola Lookman, Atalanta, and Inter Milan arrived. Behind the scenes, the 27-year-old former RB Leipzig forward has been pressuring Atalanta into selling him. By all accounts, he only wants Inter this summer. Lookman had already scrubbed all traces of his current employers from his social media accounts a couple days prior. That was not exactly a subtle way to send a message. But yesterday, Lookman took his grievance to a new level. He openly demanded a transfer. Furthermore, there were harsh words as the player accused Atalanta of 'poor treatment' and 'breaking a promise.' Atalanta Held To Agreement By Ademola Lookman BERGAMO, ITALY – JANUARY 18: Ademola Lookman of Atalanta BC looks on during the Serie A match between Atalanta BC and SSC Napoli at Gewiss Stadium on January 18, 2025 in Bergamo, Italy. (Photo by) The Corriere dello Sport report that Lookman's fury stems from a promise that he'd received from Atalanta. The Bergamo club may not have made anything official. But after last summer, when they had turned down an offer from Paris Saint-Germain for Nigerian, they made a gentleman's agreement with the player. Lookman stayed at the Gewiss Arena somewhat reluctantly last season. But it was with the understanding that he would have the green light to leave this summer. Lookman alludes in his public transfer request to an agreement that he could leave for a 'fair' offer. According to the Corriere dello Sport, the 27-year-old's representatives had discussed a figure of around €35-40 million with Atalanta. That would be something of a compromise. It would be sufficient that Atalanta would still make a healthy profit – even with the sell-on fee they owe to RB Leipzig. And at the same time, such an amount would not deter a club of Lookman's choosing from making an offer. Therefore, the Corriere notes, Lookman had hoped to hold Atalanta to that this summer. After agreeing personal terms with Inter, Lookman's representatives advised the Nerazzurri to make an offer of €40 million. Inter did so. And Atalanta rejected that initial bid. So the Nerazzurri increased their offer to €45 million with add-ons. Once again, La Dea rejected this second offer. (Photo by) And this has left Lookman furious, and feeling that he had not option but to hold Atalanta to their agreement much more publicly. As the Corriere dello Sport note, Lookman's drive is not financial. He's ready to accept lower wages at Inter than he could have gotten at Napoli, or on even an extension with Atalanta. Furthermore, Atalanta have been incredibly cagey in talks with Inter. They have not even set a price tag they consider fair. That's left the Nerazzurri unable to gauge what to bid. However, Lookman's big move yesterday has ensured that there is no coming back for he and Atalanta. The Bergamo club are hardly going to think about trying to keep hold of Lookman, who's under contract until the end of June 2027. The point of no return has been reached. Now, the Corriere report, Atalanta will have to find the right way to de-escalate a situation that has become a hot potato.

Report – Inter Milan Hoped For Atalanta Talisman's Public Transfer Request Behind The Scenes
Inter Milan had reportedly hoped for a public transfer request from forward Ademola Lookman behind the scenes. This according to today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. Report – Inter Had Hoped For Public Ademola Lookman Transfer Request BERGAMO, ITALY – MAY 25: Ademola Lookman of Atalanta BC looks on during the Serie A match between Atalanta BC and Parma Calcio 1913 at Gewiss Stadium on May 25, 2025 in Bergamo, Italy. (Photo by) And according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Lookman's statement was exactly what Inter have been hoping for. The Nerazzurri know that they need some leverage in talks with Atalanta for the 27-year-old. And furthermore, Inter are aware that the leverage would have to come from Lookman's camp. Inter were relying on Lookman and his representatives to lean on Atalanta in the last few weeks. Then, the Nerazzurri felt that the player's social media antics after Atalanta rejected their second offer were another boost. But such a harsh and unambiguous statement from Lookman takes things several steps further. Inter are now hoping that Atalanta will finally feel the heat, and come to the table to negotiate.
