Accompanied by strong winds, the storm that struck Saturday afternoon engulfed the region into quasi-darkness and toppled trees.
Earlier, the Saudi National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) had cautioned that parts of Al Qassim would be affected by active winds that could lead to near-zero visibility and advised people to monitor weather alerts and heed safety guidelines.
For Sunday's weather, the centre forecast moderate- to- heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by hail showers and dust-raising winds in parts of the Saudi regions of Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Mecca, Riyadh, and Al Qassim.
Light-to- moderate winds are meanwhile expected in parts of Ha'il in north-western Saudi Arabia, the Eastern Province, and the Northern Borders, extending to parts of Al Jawf and Tabuk in the north west. Active winds are also anticipated Sunday in Medina, limiting visibility in chunks of the region.

Massive Search Underway As 9-Year-Old Saudi Boy Swept Away In Turkey's Haldezin River

Search operations are underway in northern Turkey for a 9-year-old Saudi boy, Faisal, who was swept away by the fast-moving Haldezin River in the Çaykara region of Trabzon while on vacation with his family. The incident occurred two days ago, prompting an immediate large-scale search operation involving around 200 emergency responders. Turkish authorities, led by the Governor of Trabzon, are closely monitoring the situation despite challenging conditions caused by the river's strong currents. Rescue teams remain on high alert and are working tirelessly around the clock in hopes of locating the missing child. NCM Forecast: Hot To Extremely Hot Weather Expected At Holy Sites During Hajj

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) announced that the expected weather conditions in the holy sites during this year's Hajj will be hot to extremely hot. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 40 and 47 degrees Celsius, and minimum temperatures range between 27 and 32 degrees Celsius. The humidity levels are expected between 15 percent and 60 percent. The CEO of NCM Dr. Ayman Ghulam indicated that winds will be northerly to northwesterly at speeds ranging from 25 to 35 km/h, with dust-raising, which may lead to reduced horizontal visibility, especially in open areas and highways. He noted the possibility of thunderstorms forming in the highlands of Taif, extending their impact to the holy sites during the period from Dhul Hijjah 8 to 13, accompanied by active downwinds that stir up dust and dirt.
