NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. took to social platform X to voice his approval with Kendrick Lamar's Buick that was the centerpiece of the rappers Super Bowl halftime show. Many gearheads thought the sinister-looking Grand National put on the best performance in the middle of the Philadelphia Eagles pummeling the Kansas City Chiefs.More specifically, Junior responded to a post from sports journalist Ryan McGee who also praised Lamar's choice in vehicles for the show. 'I don't care if you like Kendrick Lamar's music or not,' he posted. 'Any man who makes a Buick Grand National the centerpiece of the #SuperBowl halftime show is a superhero. #GNX.'
In reply to that praising of the rapper's car, Earnhardt said, 'I told Amy 'that's my dream car.''

Likely, Junior just like many other people, believed the Buick he saw on the screen was a GNX. While it's true Lamar owns a GNX, which he showed off with glee last summer, what we saw used as a quasi clown car at the beginning of the halftime show was a regular Grand National modified to look a lot like a GNX.
In other words, Earnhardt really wants a GNX. With all the money and fame he has at his disposal, we're pretty sure the man could buy one. So why hasn't he if that's his dream car?
We don't have any answers, but we do know a lot of people fantasize about owning one of the only 547 Buick GNX cars made for the 1987 model year. They were wickedly fast for their time, roasting exotic cars like Ferraris on the drag strip, becoming a blue collar hero.
But now, the 80s muscle cars fetch six-figure prices, making them anything but a common man's car. Even someone as rich and famous as Lamar isn't going to use theirs in a show like that, especially as he stands on the hood – that would be insane.

Saquon Barkley says his eventual retirement will probably be 'out of nowhere'

Saquon Barkley says his eventual retirement will probably be 'out of nowhere' Show Caption Hide Caption Five NFL games we can't wait to watch in the 2025 season The NFL schedule for the 2025-2026 season has been released. Here are a few games on our must-watch list. Saquon Barkley isn't hanging up his cleats yet, but don't expect to have a warning before he does. The Philadelphia Eagles running back dazzled during his first season in the City of Brotherly Love, playing a big role in delivering the second Super Bowl victory in franchise history. During the June 4th episode of the "Green Light with Chris Long" podcast, Barkley made a different headline this time after he was asked about retirement. The former Eagles defensive end, Long, posed the question about how the star running back will one day walk away from the game. "I'll probably be one of those guys that it'll be out of nowhere," Barkley said. "I'll probably just wake up one day, whether it's next year or two years or four years, and just be like, 'Yeah, it's over.'" While it seems unlikely that retirement could come in the near future for Barkley, it could sound alarms in Philadelphia given the recent run of players calling it an early career. Most recently, it was 29-year-old Frank Ragnow that opted for retirement. The now-former Detroit Lions center was arguably the best in the sport at his position, but said he plans to prioritize is health now. In terms of passion for the game, however, Barkley doesn't envision losing that anytime soon. "I don't think I will ever lose that passion," Barkley said. "I'm just a competitor." He added that the competitive nature will always be there, but likened his eventual retirement to Barry Sanders, who shockingly stepped away from the game after just 10 seasons. The Lions Hall of Fame running back retired at age 30. "One of my favorite players of all time, probably my favorite player of all time, is Barry Sanders, so probably similar to that," Barkley said. "Maybe one day it'll be out of nowhere. I'll probably be ballin' and just be like, yeah, call it quits." Barkley has certainly achieved plenty in his career to this point. He has won a Super Bowl and was named an All-Pro, the Offensive Rookie of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and selected to the Pro Bowl three times. In 2024, he was just 101 yards away from setting the NFL's all-time single season rushing record. Despite that lengthy list of accomplishments, Barkley is still just 28 and only has seven seasons under his belt. If Barkley is using Sanders as a reference, that means he feels he still has some unfinished business – even if he's already checked off most of the boxes.

Saquon Barkley joins Brian Dawkins and David Akers in Madden's '99 club'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley will be the cover athlete for the latest installment in the Madden franchise. Along with gracing the front of this year's game, he's also received another prestigious honor. Throughout the history of Madden, being given a 99 overall is a notable feat that only a handful of players can say they've received. Coming off the best year of his NFL career, Barkley has now broken through this threshold. Amid the cover announcement, the people from Madden also gifted him a customized necklace to welcome him to the "99 Club." With this achievement, Barkley joins an exclusive group of players in Eagles history. He is now the third player to be given a 99 overall. The first Eagle to reach this mark was Brian Dawkins in 2004. Two years later, kicker David Akers also joined the "99 Club." Prior to Barkley, Lane Johnson was the most recent Eagles player to come close, reaching a 98 overall in 2024. After failing to come to an agreement on a new contract with the New York Giants, Barkley opted to depart from the team that drafted him to join the Eagles. This move yielded huge dividends, as his presence helped get the title contenders over the hump. NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA - FEBRUARY 09: Saquon Barkley #26 of the Philadelphia Eagles celebrates with teammates on the sideline in the fourth quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs during Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome on February 09, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. MoreIn his first season with Philly, Barkley came just shy of history by rushing for 2,005 yards in the regular season. He did so in just 16 games, as the team opted to sit him in Week 17 in preparation for the playoffs. Not only were Barkley's rushing yards a career-high, but he also posted his highest yards from scrimmage for a season (2,283). Having a strong backfield threat in Barkley gave the Eagles' offense a dynamic it hasn't had in some time, and made them much harder to contain week-to-week. Led by the star back's historic season, Philly carried this momentum all the way to their second Super Bowl win in franchise history. Landing the cover and a 99 overall are well-deserved honors for Barkley, but now the Eagles star has a tough challenge ahead. Many view landing on the front of the game as a curse due to multiple players falling off afterward. Seeing that the Eagles are poised to remain in the title hunt this season, they'll need Barkley to continue playing at a high level. Barkley set the bar high last year with a dominant first season with the Eagles. Replicating his 2024 campaign is a tall task, but with most of the team's core returning, all the pieces are in place for him to once again be a focal point of the offense.

Saquon Barkley's recent career confession isn't exactly the news Eagles fans want to hear

Nothing lasts forever. Sometimes, we wish that weren't the case. Sometimes, we wish we could bottle up the best memories, shake them up, stir them up, and pour them into a garden so we can grow more of them. If Saquon Barkley never played another snap for the Philadelphia Eagles, he has done his job and given us enough memories for a lifetime. If Saquon Barkley never played another snap for the Eagles, depending on who you ask, he might already be the best free-agent signing in this franchise's history. Here's the best part. He isn't done! He signed a three-year deal when he joined the organization in March 2024. He signed a two-year extension last March, but don't take anything for granted. There are no guarantees he's sticking around to play it out. Some of these podcasts need to vanish and do so quickly. They do. Every day, new ones are born, and most miss the mark like Charles Barkley hoisting one from the three-point stripe. Names aren't necessary. Let's instead focus on some of the winning brands: New Heights, Exciting Mics, and Green Light with Chris Long are three that come to mind almost immediately. During a recent airing of the latter, Chris interviewed Saquon Barkley for about 43 minutes. It's an intriguing watch, but it offers a sad but honest reminder that even the great Saquon is mortal. "I'll probably be one of those guys that (will announce retirement) out of nowhere. I'll probably just wake up one day, whether it's next year or two years or four years, and just be like, 'Yeah, it's over. I don't think I will ever lose that passion. I'm just a competitor. The competitive nature is always going to be there." Yeah, after watching Saquon break long runs every week last season and asking ourselves, 'Where has this guy been?', no one wants to envision a world without him. Can we at least get a few more years out of this and, if at all possible, at least one or two more Lombardi Trophies? Then, if Saquon wants to walk away, we would support his decision. He's like the perfect dessert to a five-star meal. He's at the top of his game on the best roster he's ever played on. As Jalen Hurts said towards the end of Super Bowl 59, Saquon was indeed the 'last piece' to the Eagles' championship puzzle. He's also a fan of Barry Sanders, and we know how his career ended. Barkley's following statement was more frightening than the former. "One of my favorite players of all time, probably my favorite player of all time, is Barry Sanders, so probably similar to that. Maybe one day it will be out of nowhere. I'll probably be ballin' and just be like, 'Yeah' and call it quits." Again, no one wants to think about that. Then again, the running back position is football's most punishing. We've seen Barry retire early. We've read and seen the stories of Jim Brown retiring while still in his prime. No man knows the day or the hour, not even Saquon himself. When he calls it a career, it will be a sad day, one we'll ultimately have to accept. All we ask is a little more time to appreciate this gift. He's an Eagle now. History won't remember him as a member of that team in New York. Neither will we, but let's hope he's having too much fun to think about his mortality right now. This article originally appeared on Eagles Wire: Saquon Barkley talks retirement and Barry Sanders
