Taste of the Town: BAE Korean Grill gets ready for the Orange Bowl Food & Wine Celebration
Bae Korean Grill
, offering a sneak peek of what's to come at this year's Orange Bowl Food & Wine Celebration presented by Florida Blue, which takes place Friday night.
Both the restaurant and the event are housed inside Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, where 40 local restaurants from South Florida will participate in this year's extravaganza to celebrate food, drinks and entertainment. The event supports
Orange Bowl Cares
initiatives, benefiting youth sports and education.
"We go into schools and build media centers. It's all about education, community, and giving back to youth sports," explained Orange Bowl Committee President Henri Crockett. "That's what Orange Bowl was founded on—coming into communities trying to make a real impact."
Participating restaurants will bring their A-game as attendees vote on favorite dishes, with chefs competing for coveted awards.
Bae Korean was a winner last year, and Torres feels confident about their chances this year.
"I'm not nervous. I'm used to it," he said. "All we have to do is serve really good food, be confident in what we're doing and what we're serving, and make good interactions with our guests. That's what we do every night anyway."
Bae Korean Grill is owned by half-brothers Hai Nguyen and Eric Douglas, who have created a cool vibe inside this eye-catching spot that attracts both locals and tourists.
Regarding their participation in the Orange Bowl Food and Wine Celebration, they emphasized the importance of community.
"That's something that's really important to us because you're giving back to the community because they're the ones giving back to us," Nguyen explained.
And, they're confident about their chances of winning again.
"We're super competitive," Douglas added. "There's no doubt about that."

Jessica Alba was just spotted in Miami — her new boyfriend's hometown
The plot involving Jessica Alba's love life thickens. The 44-year-old actress has been linked for the last few months to 'Top Gun: Maverick' actor Danny Ramirez. On Monday, Alba was spotted by paparazzi at 1 Hotel in Miami Beach. In the Daily Mail pics, the 'Honey' star is strolling in the sand holding her 7-year-old son Hayes' hand. Coincidence? Ramirez is originally from Miami, and apparently still has family here. The 32-year-old wasn't seen in any of the snaps, but we can't help but wonder if he wasn't far off. Though born in Chicago, Ramirez was raised in the Magic City, attending Pitbull's alma mater Coral Park Senior High School in the Westchester area. He is a big Hurricanes fan, telling UM's website he went to his first game vs. Boston College at the old Orange Bowl when he was still in second grade, and painting a huge 'U' on his chest. And anyone curious for clues on Alba's Instagram was out of luck. Though she did confirm (sort of) that she was in town, posting a picture of her on the beach drinking out of a coconut. The simple, one-word caption: 'Sunshine.' Alba filed for divorce from movie producer Cash Warren in February. Besides Hayes they also share two teen daughters Honor, 17, and Haven, who turns 14 on Aug. 14. Warren seems cool with his ex's current situation. 'I'm happy for her,' Warren told TMZ last month. 'I don't know him, but he seems like a good guy.' Attention, Danny: If you weren't in town for this outing, the first Hurricanes game of the season is Aug. 31 at Hard Rock Stadium vs. Notre Dame. Schedule set for bowl games, College Football Playoff
The college football season, set to kick off in August, will culminate with the College Football Playoff national championship game in Miami on Jan. 19. A five-week bowl season begins Dec. 13 with a noon ET kickoff in Atlanta in the Cricket Celebration Bowl, but cheer up grasshopper, there are 44 total games scheduled to be played after conference title games are in the books. A team who doesn't receive a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff has the potential to play games in six consecutive months, with 17 possible games for teams participating in conference championship games in December. The marquee games in the College Football Playoff are scheduled to begin Friday, Dec. 19 with one game and continue with three more Saturday, Dec. 20. Winners advance to the quarterfinals played Dec. 31 (Cotton Bowl, Arlington, Texas) and a tripleheader on Thursday, Jan. 1 (Orange Bowl, Miami, noon ET). The Rose Bowl in Pasadena kicks off at 4 p.m. ET and is followed by the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans at 8 p.m. ET. The CFP semifinals are Thursday, Jan. 8 (Fiesta Bowl, Glendale, Ariz., 7:30 p.m. ET) and the following night in Atlanta (Peach Bowl, 7:30 p.m. ET).
