DCL Expands UAE Footprint After AI-Powered Championship Success
May 01, 2025
The Drone Champions League (DCL) - a global leader in competitive drone racing - is expanding its operations in the UAE following a landmark weekend at the A2RL x DCL Autonomous Drone Championship in Abu Dhabi.
The April 2025 event, co-organised with the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL), saw 14 international teams compete for a USD 1 million prize pool. In a historic moment, an AI-powered drone developed by the Dutch university team MavLab (TU Delft) outperformed a world-class human pilot in a live challenge.
As part of a new five-year roadmap for DCL's growth in the UAE, the league will launch DCL: The Game, a free-to-play simulator designed to make drone racing accessible to a global audience. Additional initiatives include pilot certification programmes, STEM-driven media collaborations with extreme sports creators, and the development of interactive learning hubs.
'The UAE is the ideal launchpad for what comes next,' said Drone Champions League Executive Chair Markus Stampfer. 'The vision is not just to push boundaries in speed and performance, but to inspire a generation, build careers, and unlock the full potential of autonomous systems in everyday life.'
Plans include flight arenas, virtual tracks modelled on global landmarks, and initiatives merging esports, streetwear, and education to engage Gen Z and Alpha.

US Grants Nvidia License to Export H20 Chips to China
Taarek Refaat The U.S. Department of Commerce has begun issuing licenses to semiconductor giant Nvidia, allowing the company to export its H20 chips to China, removing a major obstacle to the AI leader's access to one of its key markets, a U.S. official told Reuters. The move follows last month's reversal of a ban imposed in April on selling the H20 chip to China, which came amid an escalating tariff exchange between Washington and Beijing initiated by President Donald Trump, reaching the level of a trade war. Nvidia Stock Price: 182.74 USD +1.96 (1.09%) Nvidia designed the H20 processor specifically for the Chinese market to comply with AI chip export controls implemented under former President Joe Biden. However, the company later warned that Trump's expanded restrictions would slash its July-quarter revenue by $8 billion. Two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang met with President Trump on Wednesday. In July, Nvidia announced plans to apply for U.S. government approval to resume H20 sales to China, and later received assurances that licenses would be granted soon. The development comes as global tech giants race to build more advanced AI models capable of reasoning and performing tasks autonomously, pushing toward so-called Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), which would surpass human cognitive abilities. Industry leaders are pouring resources into making AI-powered tools, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, Meta AI, and Anthropic's Claude, indispensable for consumers and developers alike, a push fueled by high-performance chips like those Nvidia produces. read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Chelsea to Host Bayer Leverkusen in Pre-Season Friendly
Rana Atef Chelsea will play their first pre-season friendly match in preparation for the 2025–2026 season when they host German side Bayer Leverkusen this Friday evening at Stamford Bridge, with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 PM Cairo time. The match marks the first test for the London side under the leadership of new head coach Enzo Maresca, following their FIFA Club World Cup triumph last June. It is a highly anticipated occasion to get a glimpse of the team's form, especially after a busy summer transfer window. Several new signings are expected to feature against Leverkusen, including Jamie Gittens, Willian Estevão, and Dutch defender Jorrel Hato, who joined from Ajax in a £37 million deal. Fans are also eager to see João Pedro and Liam Delap make their Stamford Bridge debuts, after both impressed during the Club World Cup—particularly Pedro, who scored three goals in his last two matches of the tournament. On the other side, Bayer Leverkusen will make their appearance under the guidance of Dutch manager Erik ten Hag, who took over the team following significant technical and administrative changes. These changes included the departure of several key players such as Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Granit Xhaka, while the club brought in Mark Flekken, Jarell Quansah, and Malik Tillman. Additionally, Leverkusen extended the contract of Czech striker Patrik Schick until June 2030, keeping him as a central figure in the club's long-term project—his previous deal was set to expire in 2027. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
